Chapter 9 The Hot Spring Kiss
Water splashed up around me as Pei Yuchuan jumped into the pool with me.
In the rapid descent, he reached out and caught me.
His large palm held my waist, pulling me almost fully into his arms.
Splashes rose again and again. I suddenly remembered our days studying abroad.
Back then the apartment had a bathtub. Pei Yuchuan liked to fill it with warm water and carry me, still in my pajamas, into it.
The thin mist on the mirror reflected our tangled shadows.
He would press close to my earlobe and murmur the same words over and over.
Now I looked up at the drenched Pei Yuchuan.
Water dripped from his hair, sliding down my collarbone and further.
My body still remembered him. It heated instantly at the contact.
The hot spring was not deep. Once I stood steady, I tried hard to pull away.
Pei Yuchuan did not let go.
His palm pressed against my spine, drawing me against his chest.
"Show me the photo you secretly took of me today?"
I forced out, "I took one of Pei Xi."
He traced my brows and eyes in the air, then said low after a pause, "Liar."
"I spoke with Gu Yan this morning. She said you have not let go of your ex."
"Wen You, after three years apart, do you still think about me?"
I wanted to deny it at once. The moment our eyes met, the words stuck in my throat.
He suddenly pulled me deeper into the hot spring.
Warm water closed over me completely.
He gripped the back of my head and his lips came down.
Every sense flared at once. In the suffocating rush my heart pounded hard.
I tried to break free but could not. His kiss stayed just as commanding.
When oxygen ran low, my thoughts drifted.
I remembered that Christmas years ago. He had kissed me the same way, endless feeling in his eyes.
Wet clothes clung to us. The rough pads of his fingers trailed from my neck to my collarbone.
I trembled and almost unconsciously wrapped my arms around his neck.
Just before I suffocated he pulled me up. I gasped in deep breaths.
Before I could steady myself he gripped my waist again, leaning in for another kiss.
I remembered what Gu Yan had told me earlier—Pei Yuchuan was already engaged and about to marry his fiancée.
What we were doing felt completely shameless.
I used all my strength to stop him.
"Pei Yuchuan, we broke up three years ago."
"Isn't it disgusting to do this with an ex?"
