My Best Friend's Massive Surprise (She's Got a MASSIVE Secret #7)

By Olivia Kinx

Chapter One

“Morgan, thanks so much for this,” I told my bestie as we did our hair together in the bathroom. “I’m so anxious that my stomach hurts. If I were going out alone, I really don’t think I’d be able to do it.”

Morgan gave me a grinning side-eye in the mirror’s reflection as she ran her comb through hair the color of daffodils. Her eyes were such a striking shade of blue that I half-expected them to start glowing.

“No problem, Kay,” she said. “But I said it before and I’ll say it again, you don’t need a dating app to meet someone.”

“For my purposes, I do,” I chuckled.

“Oh yeah, sorry I keep forgetting,” she answered. “Hinge can’t guarantee you’ll get what you need.”

“Definitely not,” I said.

I discovered my bisexuality back in college, where me and Morgan had been roommates. After exclusively dating women for the last few years, I decided it was time to give a man a shot for once.

Except, I had no time for ‘normal-sized’ men, if you get what I’m saying. My desire to be with a man was based on a very specific, very pure physical need, which was why I signed up for the dating app called Bigger Than Most.

Morgan paused, tilting her head, her damp golden hair dripping on her bare shoulders. “How does BTM verify a guy’s, uh…claims?”

“Pictures,” I said. “From what I hear, the app has a pretty thorough verification process. They can’t get away with lying about the size.”

Morgan resumed brushing her hair, though she did so with a concerned look in her eyes.

I watched through the mirror as she ran the comb’s teeth through her thick hair, floral-scented drops of water dripping onto her golden flesh.

A bead of moisture rolled down the back of her neck, then down the length of her spine.

Her dress was low-cut in the rear, the black satin dropping away to expose her back.

Little beads of perspiration glistened on her tanned skin like dew on morning flowers, each rolling at various speeds down toward the base of her spine.

The dress was short, just an inch or so away from being a bona fide cocktail skirt, but Morgan could always wear the skimpiest outfit with an air of casual elegance.

She shifted her weight from her right leg to the left, causing her upper thigh to flex slightly. The hem of her dress clung tightly to her left thigh, her knee bent slightly, making her calf flex as well.

God, being hot comes so naturally to Morgan, I thought, trying not to let my gaze linger on her for too long.

Yes, I’d harbored a crush on Morgan since the day we met. She’d even hinted that the crush went both ways, but we’d never acted on it. As many times as my best friend drifted into my fantasies at night, our friendship was just too important.

“If the guy seems weird, just walk away from him,” Morgan said. “I don’t trust dating apps, I really don’t.”

“Because you’re a Luddite,” I laughed.

“Because it takes half the fun out of meeting someone,” she countered, thrusting the comb for emphasis. “Technology turns relationships into part of an algorithm.”

“Or it’s just convenient,” I said.

“Not for me,” she chuckled. “I like those awkward first moments, when you catch someone watching you from across the room. When you don’t know each other’s names yet. When you’ve never bothered to have some website’s algorithm determine whether or not you’re a match for one another.”

I felt a pang of annoyance. “Yeah well it’s easy for someone like you,” I shot back, more harshly than I meant to. “You can’t walk down the street without getting a phone number, Morgan.”

“Hey,” she said, threading her arm through mine, her gentle fingertips sliding down the inside of my forearm before intertwining with my own. “You’re a sexy little minx, Kay,” she insisted. “A verified baddie.”

Her easy compliments sliced right through my annoyance, my insecurity. I laughed, but shook my head. “Not on your level.”

“You’re only saying that because I’m blonde,” she shot back, grinning, squeezing my hand. “For my money, brunettes are way hotter than blondes.”

“It’s not just that,” I said with a deferential tone. I lowered the comb from my hair, resisting the urge to look jealous as I compared myself to Morgan in the mirror’s reflection. “You have a way of, I dunno…just naturally being gorgeous.”

She paused, quiet for a moment. She circled her thumb against my palm. I knew her touch was just a show of platonic reassurance, but still, I couldn’t help it when the sensation made my heart race.

“Hey,” Morgan said. “Look at me.”

I turned away from her reflection, toward her. She slid her fingers through the gaps between mine, clasping my hand tightly.

“I’ve always been jealous of how pretty you are, Kay,” Morgan said.

I snorted awkwardly. “No way,” I said.

She was about to say more, but then my phone vibrated. Another text from the guy I matched with on Bigger Than Most.

Morgan shrugged, laughing. “Go on,” she said. “Answer his text. The algorithm demands it.”
