Epilogue

Wade Cooper

“Man, I can’t believe you refused to be reinstated in the military? What were you thinking? That was all you ever wanted!” Marcus shakes his head at me as he fixes his bow tie.

“Yeah, I wanted it badly, but I know there’s something else I want and that’s being with Ava and the kids. Remaining on the police force and accepting the promotion was my best option.” I look at my watch, unable to wait a few more minutes before claiming Ava as my one and only wife.

“I agree with that too. Ava is just three months away and she always needs her husband by her side.” Jordan says from where he is seated in the dressing room.

“You’re both suckers for love. Some things never change.” Marcus huffs. “Groom, are you ready to walk down that aisle?” Marcus smiles .

“Never been more ready.” I straighten my tuxedo before stepping out of the beach house and heading down to where the guests are already seated.

The officiator announces my entry, and the tiny crowd applauds as I walk down the sandy trail towards the beach. We decided to have a small wedding by the beach because doing it in the city would mean trying to avoid the press who wanted to get a glimpse of the famous opera star and billionaire’s son’s wedding.

My parents, Ava’s mother, and a few of our friends were present to witness the happy moment. The captain even flew down here just this morning to be with us.

“Now, the flower boy and ring bearer.”

DJ, dressed in a pink suit, walks down the sand as his tiny hand throws the petals on the ground. Everyone gushes over how cute he is, and he manages to reach the end of the trail to meet me. I pick him up as we wait for our beautiful bride to arrive.

“Now, the moment we have all been waiting for. Our gorgeous bride arrives!” Everyone roars as an angel walks down to me.

Ava wanted a simple dress to match the simple background of the wedding and her choice couldn’t be any more perfect. With her hair tied in a low bun and her small bulge protruding, she had the brightest smile on her face as soon as she saw DJ and I waiting for her.

It has never been clearer to me—I’ll love this woman till my very last breath.
