Chapter 9
Its been a couple of days now, I am recovering from the surgery and I was still in pain when I moved at all.
I spend most days down stairs, on the couch. I even have spent the night here last night cause I was in to much pain to move up the stairs, and also cause I was tired.
Jaxson didn't lie when he said he would take care of me though. He has been there for ever need I have had. He even got me a phone so I don't have to yell his name every time I need him for something.
But he isn't the only one helping me, Tyler and Zack have both been hanging out with me and helping me when Jaxson has to go to the pack house.
But today is going to be a little different. The boys all have to go to a meeting with the head warriors, i'm not sure what for, but there's no one to take care of me.
That was what I thought till Jaxson walked into my room and said his parents were coming to help me if needed.
I was, of course, shocked. His parents don't even know me, but are coming to help me?
I don't want to seem pathetic in front of them when I need someone to help pull me up with little pain.
"Carolina?" Jaxson called for me. "Yes?" I yelled back from the living room. He was probably trying to figure out where I was. Me and Jaxson's relationship has been doing better. Well, the only problem is me, but I have been working on it.
"There you are." He said once he saw me.
"I have been in the same place for the past few days." I pointed out but he didn't comment on that. "I just wanted to tell you, Tyler and Zack are going to be here in 10 minutes and my parents will be here in 5." He told me making my nerves pick up.
"What if they don't like me?" I asked, like I have been asking sense I found out they were coming over. "I have already told you that they already love you. I have talked to them and both of them are just excited to meet you finally." He said grabbing my hands, trying to reassure me.
It didn't really work.
He just shook his head when he saw I wasn't going to calm down. He stood up kissing the side of my head, before asking "Is there anything you want before they get here?"
"No, i'm good." I tell him and just then the front door bell rung. "I guess when they said 5 minutes they meant 1." Jaxson said mostly to himself but I laughed anyway.
He bent down giving me a small kiss before going to answer the door. Jaxson has started the habit of when ever he leaves the room even for a second he gives me a small kiss. It's sweet for sure and has helped me get comfortable quicker, with physical stuff.
"Mom, Dad. Hey" I here him say. I turn around trying to get a look at them without them seeing me but gave up quickly when I saw his mom looking around.
"Hello, now where is your beautiful mate you have been telling us about?" I hear his mom say. At least they think I am beautiful, even though they have never seen me.
"She is hiding away in the living room. She is a little nervous, like I said she would be, but she will warm up quickly, I promise." He told them. I hear them start walking into the living room. As they walked in I look at them.
His mother is beautiful, she has long straight black as night hair, and beep green eyes, like Jaxson's. And his father looked exactly like Jaxson face-wise, just with blonde hair instead, and blue eyes.
"Hello, sweetheart. My name is Carol and that's what I wish for you to call me." She said sitting right next to me. "Ok." I said quietly.
I looked at Jaxson, wondering if his mother was always this outgoing. "Oh, she really is a cutie. So shy and bashful." She said about me to Jaxson and her husband.
I couldn't tell if that was a good thing or not, and I think Jaxson saw my confusion cause he said "In this case it's a complement."
"Ok, thank you, Carol." I said trying to force a nice smile.
"Come on Robert, introduce yourself." Carol said to her husband, making him roll his eyes.
"Hello, Carolina, as you heard my name is Robert, you may call me what you wish." He said moving to sit down in the reclining chair. "Ok, Robert." I said not knowing what else to call him.
"When is Tyler and Zack going to be here?" I asked Jaxson.
He chuckled and said "Why, you want me to go already?" As a joke of course. "No, just curious." I said back to him lightly laughing. "You are always curious, but they should be here in a few minutes, and then I will be leaving you here, ok?" He asked, like I really had a choice.
I just nodded and looking back to Carol.
She smiled at me and I gave a small smile back.
"Just so you two know." Jaxson said catching his parents attention.
"Carolina said she was feeling better today, so try and let her do a few things on her own.
I want to make sure she is walking around and not letting her ribs get stiff sitting here all day. " He told them.
"That's good news then." Robert said "When are you scheduled to get that off." He asked referring to my cast around my torso. I looked at Jaxson not really sure.
"In a couple of weeks." He said.
"Will I be introduced then?" I asked curious about the whole thing. "That's up to you. If you feel like you are ready then, then yes. But there is no rush." He told me. Making me nod.
I looked back as Carol, taking a deep breath before starting a conversation with her. "What was it like for you, getting introduced?" She seemed shocked I would ask such a thing but smiled at me, thinking back at the memory.
"It was lovely, there was music and dancing. Of course I was nerves at first but then it drifted away." She told me making me smile. "That sounds not so bad." I said thinking about it from her perspective.
The front door bell started ringing again after a few minutes of light conversation.
"I'm going to go ahead and good. Bye thank you for helping Carolina for the day. And you make sure to tell them if something hurts." He said pointed at me. I nodded my head and he gave me a small kiss, like always before saying good bye.
I was a little embarrassed he kissed me right in front of his parents, but when I looked at them they didn't seem to mind it. I took, what felt like my millionth deep breath, as I heard the front door close, and Jaxson leave.
This is the first time he hasn't been in the same building as me, and I was honestly sad. I think his parents noticed cause his mother wrapped her arm around me and said. "He will be back as quickly as possible. That boy will not stay a second longer away from you then need."
Her sentiment made me smile, he cares for me and that's all that matters.
"Have you already eaten breakfast?" Robert asked me. I shook my head no and said "Jaxson said to wait, cause you guys hadn't eaten yet, and he wanted us to eat together." I repeated what he had said to me when I asked for breakfast.
"I will go cook us something up then." Carol said standing up. "Can I help?" I asked looking up to her. "I don't see why not." She said. She held her hands out for me to use to help stand up. It was a little painful but not unbearable.
It took maybe 15 minutes to finish off everything and set the table up. Robert joined us and we all ate together. We had talked small talk, and they were both nice. I guess I didn't have to much to worry about.
It was 2 hours till Jaxson came back and even then Carol, Robert, Tyler, and Zack stayed with me and talked with me. It was fun and I laughed a lot, even though it hurt a bit.
"So son, are you starting the planning for the Alpha meetings?" Robert asked Jaxson. "Yeah, I probably start tomorrow sense it is only 2 months away." He answered.
"What are the Alpha meetings?" I asked.
"They are meetings we like to do yearly, where ranks of each pack come here and we discuss big things that can effect all of us, like rouges or a over powered pack that aren't following the laws." Jaxson explained to me.
"You will probably sit through it with me.
" He added "It's a good place to learn names and learn how other packs work.
" Carol said to me making me nod and listen to the information Jaxson did have about the event.
It sounds a little boring, but if Jaxson wanted me there, then that's where I will be.
That meeting felt like a lifetime, normally I don't get so bored or annoyed in meetings, but today was so different. I felt nervous and jittery without Carolina. And through out the meeting I was texting with my mom about what they were doing and how she was feeling.
I know it's bad not being able to be away from her, even if its just a couple of hours, but I have not had time to get used to this. I have spent this past weeks right next to her. I just got to comfortable.
"Jaxson?" Tyler called out to me, pulling me away from my phone. Him, Zack, and the head warriors were all staring at me, some with knowing smiles and others with confused looks.
People in the pack have of course started to figure out I found my mate.
"Sorry." I say setting my phone down and away from me. I try relaxing myself a bit as Tyler goes back to saying the new patrol teams and schedule.
"My I ask a question Beta." One of the newer head Warrior asked once Tyler was finished reading everything off. "Sure Warrior Finn." Tyler said.
"Is there a reason we are switching up the teams and schedule?" He asked. So of the older wolves chuckled and glanced at me. It was obvious to them.
"How much do you want to say right now Alpha King?" Tyler asked me, noticing my uncomfortable movement. "I think we can tell them, they are all very loyal and they could help." I said after thinking a bit.
"As you wish. The Alpha King has found his Queen." Tyler said nonchalantly, but a smile broke out on my face. "Her name is Carolina and she is learning everything she can before she is officially introduced, I don't want information about her getting out of this room though." I added.
"May we see a picture of her?" One of the older head warrior, Warrior Quinn asked. "Sure." I said pulling out my phone and going to my photos looking through some of the photos she took of herself when I handed her my phone.
When I showed them one of the pictures they all commented her and said some stuff along the line of 'she is going to make a perfect queen.' I smiled at the thought of going back home to her.
The rest of the meeting we talked back and forth about changes needing to be made to protect the new queen.
I was very pleased with my head warriors and there concern for Carolina.
I know she will be in good hands with any of these men.
