Chapter 19 #4

“You are my first love, Devon. I was never in love before, in fact, I don't think I even believed in love and thought that feeling was just a great passion confused with love, but I was a fool.

With you, I discovered that this feeling I didn't know actually exists. What I feel for you is so immense that it scared me.”

“I love you and I don't want to be apart from you. I want us to live together, to be together. I'll do whatever it takes to be with you.” —I paused, took a breath and said what I desired with all my heart— “Marry me, Devon. Let's form a family with Aurora, let's make our family a reality.”

She looked at me perplexed. When she spoke, I realized she was also going to confess something to me. Her voice was soft, but determined.

“William, I love you, and you are my first love too.

I think it's time to open our hearts completely.” —She sighed, took a breath and began her story— “When I married Lino, I thought I loved him and I was convinced of it until I met you,” she said, and hearing that made me so happy that I couldn't help but smile.

“I didn't have a loving family; the only one who showed me affection was my father, but he passed away many years ago. My mother and sister always treated me with coldness and contempt. From my mother, I only received reproaches and mistreatment, and my sister always saw me as competition and imitated my mother in everything concerning me.”

“When my father died, I was completely alone and unprotected, then I met Lino who made me feel loved and cared for, and that was enough for me to cling to him and think I was in love.

The truth is I wasn't, and I suppose he wasn't either because you see how he abandoned me as soon as he found out I couldn't give him children.”

“I only knew true love when I met you. At that moment, I knew what it was to unconditionally love someone. You made my heart race just by looking at me, and when you touched me, I thought I was in heaven. The day I left here convinced I had lost you, I knew I would never forget you or feel this way about anyone else.”

Hearing her confession, I felt conflicting emotions.

Knowing I was her first love filled me with enormous pride, and understanding that Devon loved me in the same way and with the same intensity that I loved her made me happier than I ever thought possible.

On the other hand, learning about her family history and knowing that her family had treated her that way infuriated me so much that I could feel the anger taking over, which surprised me because it wasn't usual for me to feel this way about people I didn't know.

Her mother and sister already had all my abhorrence, and I wasn't going to allow them to get close to either my woman or my daughter.

Devon's family was Aurora and me, nothing more.

I wished I had met her earlier to spare her the suffering she had endured.

I wanted to care for her, protect her from everything and everyone. I wanted her to be immensely happy.

Devon lowered her head sadly, but I wasn't going to let those horrible people sadden my woman. I gently lifted her chin.

“My sweet doctor, you're the doctor of my heart, and I love you so much that I too thought my life without you would be monotonous and cold. Marry me, my love. I can't promise we won't have storms, tornadoes perhaps, but we'll try to overcome all that together.”

“I'm afraid of disappointing you. What if later on you realize you want another child?” she asked, and I could understand her fear.

“Disappoint me? You could never disappoint me.

You can't imagine the pride I feel having you by my side and being the person you love,” I stated, bringing my hands to her face and giving her a chaste kiss on the lips.

“I'm the one who thinks I don't deserve you.

Everyone says you're an angel, and I'm sure of it because you burst into my darkness to illuminate my life and my daughter's; and I have a lot of demon in me, but by your side and with your kindness and love, I'm a better person, I'm the best version of myself.

You see, I'm the one who should be grateful to life for having you by my side and for you loving me.”

“I'm not an angel and you're not a demon; most people have been on both sides. If anything, we complement each other,” she said, and turned her face to kiss one of my hands with such tenderness as no one had ever done before. “And what about children?”

“I'm already a father, if that's what worries you. And if I weren't, I wouldn't worry about it either.”

“Are you sure?” she asked.

“I am. So?” I insisted.

“Do you really want us to get married?” she asked again, but this time with a smile of happiness that lit up the room.

“It's what I want most.”

“Then let's get married.”

My smile was automatic. I could never have imagined the happiness I felt at that moment.

It was something unparalleled; I wanted that moment to never end.

I felt an indescribable happiness and a peace that invaded my entire body.

Could there be anything more perfect? If anything was still missing to make that moment sublime, it was joining with her in body and soul.

I moved closer and kissed her, pouring into that kiss everything I felt for her.

“You make me the happiest man in the world.”

“That's because I'm the happiest woman in the world,” she affirmed, with that enchanting smile that illuminated her beauty.

“Tomorrow we'll start with the preparations and tell Aurora.”

“Preparations?” she asked, horrified?

“I mean going to register at the Civil Registry, but I see that topic didn't appeal to you much. Don't you want a big wedding?” I asked, confused.

“No,” she said, emphasizing it by shaking her head. “I just want to be with you, with Aurora, and with our loved ones. I'm not interested in having a big wedding, just celebrating our love with the people we love.”

Until that moment, I thought almost all women wanted to experience a dream wedding, but Devon was showing me that wasn't the case, that the dream wasn't in how luxurious or spectacular the party was, but in experiencing it with your great love.

And I was going to have that privilege. I felt fortunate like no one else.

My previous experience was dreadful. Cristina had demanded a pompous wedding with so many guests that I couldn't even remember them all.

As she had repeated to the point of exhaustion, ?The wedding of the century?, a social event that no one would forget, though she forgot it hours after it ended.

For me, all that charade had been true torture.

The only thing I felt was that we were exhibiting ourselves for a group of strangers who didn't matter to me and whom I would never see again.

At the time, just to keep her from bothering me and to prevent her from getting upset and harming the baby, I had fulfilled all her whims and ended up at a party that seemed more like a Hollywood event than a wedding.

And I had felt that, instead of preparing for my wedding, I was heading toward my execution.

I looked at Devon who was staring at me horrified at the idea of that type of wedding and understood that not all women desire a wedding like that.

For Devon, the only important thing was love, our love and that of the people we loved, and that's how it really should be.

I loved her more for that, if it was possible to love her more than I already did.

“Then that's how it will be, and you can't imagine how happy that makes me,” I said, moving closer to kiss her.

“Me too,” she said, relieved, “for a minute I thought you wanted a big wedding.”

“I only want to be with you and Aurora, the two women I love, nothing more.”

“Perfect, that's how it will be,” she said, and hung from my neck and kissed me.

“How shall we celebrate? Sex or champagne?” I asked, looking at her and winking.

She looked at me with a mischievous smile.

“Sex,” she said, and kissed me again.

“I couldn't agree more with you, Dr. Dulcet.”

We kissed again, but this time the innocent kiss quickly transformed into a passionate one. I made her lie down on the bed, but I turned her so she was face down. I caressed her back, running my fingers along her spine. I reached her buttocks and kissed them with veneration. That ass was perfect.

“Raise your hips, my love,” I asked, and noticed she was hesitant, probably due to the shyness of being so exposed to me, but I was going to help her overcome it. With me, she shouldn't have any modesty, so I helped her rest her knees on the mattress.

I plunged into her sex from behind. We both moaned. With my hands on her hips, I began to thrust into her harder and harder while she moaned non-stop. I accelerated the rhythm when I noticed Devon beginning to tense up and pant uncontrollably.

“God, my love, you're amazing.”

“William, aaah.”

Her spasms squeezed me tightly and catapulted my orgasm, which was devastating.

Something exploded inside me, like thousands of fireworks that made me stagger.

I rested my chest on her back, trying to calm the frantic beating of my heart.

After a few minutes, I withdrew from her to turn her around and have her face me so I could kiss her lips.

Devon was flushed, her beautiful gray eyes shining from what we had experienced minutes before, her long hair was spread across my bed, and her lips, swollen from my kisses, were parted and an invitation to passion.

She was feminine beauty incarnate in my woman.

“I love you, William.”

And those were the most wonderful words I had ever heard.

“And I love you with all my heart.”
