15. Selene #2

“Tell me to stop.” He meets my eyes in the mirror, his gaze burning with desire. “Tell me you don’t want this, and I’ll walk out that door right now. I’ll sit on that sofa and behave myself for the rest of the afternoon.”

I open my mouth to do exactly that.

What comes out instead is: “Don’t you dare stop.”

Dylan

The permission tears through me like wildfire.

She’s been so careful these past weeks, maintaining distance even as she let me closer, and I’ve been walking a knife’s edge between hope and restraint. But now she’s pressing back against me, her eyes heavy-lidded in the mirror, and I’m done being patient.

I spin her around to face me properly, and the sight of her in this dress. God, this fucking dress. It makes me want to drop to my knees and worship her.

“You have no idea.” I cup her face in my hands, tilting it up toward mine. “You have no idea what you do to me. Walking around in these outfits, letting me touch your hair, making those little sounds when you think I’m not listening-”

“What sounds?” Her voice is breathless, defensive.

“The ones you make when I kiss your shoulder. The tiny gasp when my hand brushes your thigh.” I lean in close, letting my lips hover just above hers. “The way you whisper my name in your sleep.”

Her eyes widen. “You’ve heard… when did you-”

“That night I drove you home. You fell asleep in the car.” My thumb traces her lower lip, watching it tremble under my touch. “You said my name. Just once. A prayer, or maybe a curse. I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it since.”

She stares at me, and I watch the war play out behind her eyes. The part of her that’s been hurt, that’s afraid, that has every reason not to trust me again, battling against the part that still wants this, still wants us.

“You look so beautiful, baby.” I tilt her face up, forcing her to meet my gaze. “You’re driving your husband absolutely mad.”

Something shifts in her expression. The resistance crumbles.

“Then do something about it.”

I crush my mouth to hers.

She tastes of the mint tea she was drinking earlier, and underneath that, a taste uniquely her.

Warm and intoxicating. Her lips part under mine, and I sweep my tongue inside, groaning at the contact.

It’s been so long. Over a year since I’ve kissed her like this, since I’ve felt her melt against me with a whimper that goes straight to my cock.

My hands find her hips again, hauling her against me until there’s no space left between us. She gasps into my mouth as she feels how hard I am, her fingers curling into the fabric of my shirt.

“Dylan…”

“I know.” I kiss along her jaw, down her throat, following the rapid flutter of her pulse. “I know, baby. I’ve got you.”

I walk her backward until her shoulders hit the wall beside the mirror. The impact makes a soft sound, and she arches into me, her hands sliding up my chest to grip my shoulders.

“We shouldn’t…” She breaks off with a moan as I suck on the sensitive spot where her neck meets her shoulder. “The premiere, I have to… oh, God…”

“We have time.” I pull back just enough to meet her eyes, checking, making sure. “Tell me what you want, Selene. Tell me and I’ll give it to you. Anything.”

Her gaze drops to my mouth, then lower, to where our bodies are pressed together. When she looks back up at me, her eyes are almost black with want.

“I want you to touch me.” Her voice is barely a whisper. “I want you to make me forget every night I spent alone in that mansion, waiting for a husband who never came home.”

The words cut deep, as she intends them to, but they also fuel something desperate inside me. I left her alone. I neglected her. I let her waste away in an empty house while I chased accolades that meant nothing.

I’m not going to make that mistake again.

“I’m going to make you feel so good.” I press my forehead to hers, holding her gaze. “I’m going to touch you until you can’t remember your own name. And then I’m going to take you to that premiere, and I’m going to stand beside you while the whole world sees what I almost lost.”

I kiss her again, softer this time, with all the tenderness I should have shown her for seven years. My hand slides down her side, over the curve of her hip, finding the slit in her dress that I noticed when she walked out of the dressing area. My fingers slip inside, trailing up her bare thigh.

She shivers against me, her breath coming faster.

“Tell me if you want me to stop.”

“Don’t-” She grabs my wrist, holding my hand in place. “Don’t stop. Please.”

My fingers find the edge of her underwear, lace so delicate it feels like it might disintegrate under my touch. I trace the fabric slowly, teasingly, watching her face in my peripheral vision as her eyes flutter closed.

“Look at me.”

Her eyes snap open.

“I want to see you. I want to watch every expression, every reaction. I spent a year imagining what this would be like, and I’m not missing a single second.”

She nods, her teeth catching her lower lip as I slide my hand beneath the lace.

The first touch of my fingers against her center makes us both groan. She’s wet. So wet already, soaking against my palm as I cup her, letting her feel the pressure without giving her the friction she needs.

“God, Selene.” I rest my forehead against hers, breathing heavily. “You feel incredible.”

“Please…” She rolls her hips, trying to chase the contact. “Please, Dylan…”

“I’ve got you.” I find her clit and press gently, circling with my fingertip. “Just let go, baby. Let me take care of you.”

I watch her face as I touch her, memorizing every gasp, every flutter of her lashes, every soft sound that escapes her throat. She’s trying to stay quiet. We’re not alone in the apartment, after all, but the effort is clearly costing her.

“That’s it.” I increase the pressure, changing my angle until I find the rhythm that makes her knees buckle. “That’s my girl. You’re so beautiful like this.”

Her hands are gripping my shoulders hard enough to bruise, her head falling back against the wall. The crystals on her dress catch the light with every heaving breath, turning her into a vision I’ll never forget.

I slip one finger inside her, then two, curling them against the spot that always made her cry out. She bites down on her lip so hard I’m afraid she’ll draw blood, a strangled moan escaping despite her efforts.

“Let me hear you.” I curl my fingers again, pressing my thumb against her clit. “No one’s going to come in. Let me hear how good you feel.”

“Dylan…” My name comes out broken, pleading. “I’m… I can’t…”

“You can.” I pump my fingers faster, my thumb working her clit in tight circles. “Come for me, baby. Let go. I want to feel you fall apart.”

She shatters.

Her whole body tenses, her inner walls clenching around my fingers as the orgasm crashes through her.

She cries out, loud enough that anyone in the hallway would definitely hear.

I swallow the sound with my mouth, kissing her through the waves of pleasure until she’s trembling and gasping against me.

I slow my movements, gentling her down, placing soft kisses against her temple, her cheek, the corner of her mouth.

“That’s it.” I carefully withdraw my hand, smoothing her dress back into place. “That’s my girl.”

Selene’s eyes are glazed, her cheeks flushed, her lips swollen from my kisses. She looks thoroughly ravished, and we haven’t even done half of what I want to do to her.

“That was…” She trails off, seemingly unable to find words.

“Just the beginning.” I cup her face again, pressing a tender kiss to her forehead. “We have tonight, and tomorrow, and every day after that. I’m going to spend the rest of my life making up for lost time.”

She laughs, a breathless sound. “You’re very confident about the rest of your life.”

“I’m confident about you.” I pull back just enough to meet her eyes. “I’m confident that you’re it for me, Selene. You always have been. I was just too stupid to see it.”

Her expression softens, some of the post-orgasmic haze clearing to reveal vulnerability underneath.

“We still have a lot to talk about.”

“I know.”

“This doesn’t mean everything’s fixed.”

“I know that too.” I smooth a strand of hair back from her face. “But it’s a start, right? It means you’re willing to try?”

She’s quiet for a moment, studying my face like she’s looking for something. Whatever she finds seems to satisfy her, because she nods slowly.

“It’s a start.”

The tightness in my chest finally begins to loosen and a smile slips up my face.

“Then let’s get you to your premiere, wife.” I step back, offering her my hand. “You have a film to celebrate and an industry to conquer. And I plan to be right there beside you for all of it.”

She takes my hand, her fingers interlacing with mine.

“You better be.”

“Wild horses, baby.” I bring her hand to my lips, pressing a kiss to her knuckles. “Wild horses.”
