Chapter 6 #3

I turned in his hold, just enough to face him, not to pull his hand from my arm, and tipped my head back…and told the truth.

“Jealous,” I repeated. “Of what Brakkor and Jocelyn have.”

When Korrad winced, I knew I’d gambled and lost. His hand fell away from my arm. “I’m sorry, Kesha. You know I can’t be your Mate—”

Desperate to ease his guilt, I lunged forward, reaching for his shoulders. “Not Mating, you idiot. I just want—”

He’d frozen, and now his expression was carefully neutral as he stood in my hold. “Want what?” he whispered.

Oh, fuck it.

I surged up on my toes, pulling him down toward my mouth, and didn’t bother stopping the way I whimpered as our lips met. If I didn’t know better, I would say that his chest growled—is that a thing?—as his arms wrapped around me, and then I wasn’t thinking much at all.

Korrad’s mouth was hot and demanding, his beard rough against my skin as his lips slanted over mine. I made a desperate sound into his mouth, my fingers curling into the thick muscle of his shoulders, and he groaned in response—a deep, vibrating rumble that I felt all the way down to my toes.

His tusks pressed against my cheeks, the smooth enamel cool and strange, but not uncomfortable. A reminder of how different he was, how male he was, how mine he was.

His hands were everywhere, and I wasn’t objecting.

One gripped my waist, his thumb digging into the soft flesh just above my hipbone, possessive and firm. The other cupped the back of my head, his fingers tangling in my curls, holding me exactly where he wanted me.

Yes please.

His claws pricked my scalp, not hard enough to hurt, just enough to send a shiver down my spine. I arched into him, my breasts crushing against his chest, my nipples tightening under the friction of my bra and his shirt.

His kiss wasn’t gentle. It was hungry, almost frantic, like he’d been starving for this and now that he had me, he couldn’t get enough. His tongue swept into my mouth, thick and insistent, and I met him stroke for stroke, my own tongue tangling with his.

I whimpered again, the sound swallowed by his mouth, and his grip on my waist tightened, his claws flexing against my skin.

Then his lips left mine, trailing down my jaw, his beard scraping deliciously against my sensitive skin.

I tilted my head to give him better access, my breath coming in sharp little gasps as he nipped at the hinge of my jaw, the shell of my ear.

His tusks brushed my jaw, and I shivered, my fingers digging into his shoulders.

“Korrad,” I breathed, and his name on my lips seemed to snap something in him.

With a low growl, he pressed me back against the door, his body pinning mine. His thigh slid between my legs, and I rocked against it instinctively, the pressure sending a jolt of pleasure straight to my core. My pussy throbbed, aching and empty, and I rolled my hips again, chasing the friction.

His mouth found mine again, his kiss even more desperate now. His tongue stroked deep, his teeth nipping at my lower lip, and I moaned into his mouth, my nails raking down his back. His hips rolled, grinding his cock against me, and I gasped at the sensation, my body tightening with need.

He braced one huge forearm to my left, as his other hand gripped my hip, holding me in place. I was bracketed by this huge male, and rather than feel alarmed, I felt safe and unbelievably aroused.

The hard ridge of his cock pressed against my stomach, thick and heavy through the fabric of his jeans. I could feel the heat of him, the sheer size of him, and my body clenched in anticipation.

Yes!

Oh Lord, yes.

I needed this so badly—needed him so badly.

Whimpering, I rocked against his hardness, the seam of my jeans pressing against my clitoris and sending white-hot sparks through my brain. I was mindless now, panting for breath as I took what I wanted from him.

Took what I wanted…

I was…I was taking from Korrad, wasn’t I?

As usual.

That thought—that guilt—had me pulling away from his mouth with a gasp. Unfortunately, that movement pushed my pussy against his thigh again, sending another spike of need through me, causing me to groan and drop my head back against the door with a thunk.

Korrad let me go. I told myself this was good, because if he had chased me, I wouldn’t have been able to resist him.

Instead, he bowed his head, his weight supported by his forearm braced against the door, and breathed as heavily as I did. His eyes were screwed closed, and I had to resist the urge to reach up and brush his hair away from his forehead.

What was I doing?

Korrad had given me a home, safety, acceptance, and love for my son…and what had I given him? A headache.

I couldn’t take anything more from him.

His heart still belonged to Sharra, and I wasn’t her.

“Kesha,” he murmured, eyes still shut, as if maybe he wasn’t sure what he was asking.

My breath wrenched out of me in a sound that was half-laugh, half-sob. Lord, I wanted him! But despite everything he’d said, I was keeping score.

And now I wasn’t sure if I was winning or losing.
