Chapter 16 Missing cupcakes
As it was the weekend and everyone took some rest in their rooms, the way Steve got scolded by the smith couple still disturbed Eva
She made the cupcakes again to lift the mood of the family members., as she already declared.
In one hour she was ready with another set of cupcakes, which were again decorated with beautiful icing. After getting satisfied with her work, she entered the dining room, where the family was waiting for her to join them for lunch.
Eva kept the decorated tray of cupcakes in the center of the glass dining table and got settled for lunch. Rose and William were looking at the cupcakes in astonishment, as it was looking so perfect
“Wow! Dear, you are a perfectionist." Rose complimented Eva
Steve was not even glancing at the cupcakes, as the incident had already disturbed him in the morning.
So he was just finishing his lunch, and Stephen was also doing the same, but he wanted to taste the cupcake, but that will make him a subject of suspicion.
William was so eager to taste the cupcake that he quickly finished with his lunch. Eva giggled at his excitement and served a cupcake on his plate.
The moment William tasted it, he started raising Eva’s cooking skill
'You know Robert wasn’t exaggerating when he told you that you didn’t need any of these classes as you are a perfectionist. Well done, dear.’
‘Thank you."
Rose also praised her, and as she took the first bite, the memory of her dear friend came back to her. She was also a great baker like Eva, so she got this in her genes.
While Stephen remained focused on his plate, Eva turned towards him and served a cupcake on a quarter plate, sliding it towards him.
“He doesn’t like sweet Eva,” William told Eva
“Hmm, maybe he will like it though; I mean, what’s the harm in tasting it .“
Rose raised an eyebrow at her confidence, whereas Stephen noticed her tone. It was like she was implicated in something. did she have a doubt on him?
William was finished with one when he saw Stephen was not taking any interest in the cupcake, so he suggested
“Don’t bother him, dear; you can give it to me. I am all ready to eat one more.
"No, William, you already had one, and that’s all for you."
William huffed in annoyance, whereas Eva then slid the plate that she served to Stephen and passed it near Steve
“No thanks,” Steve said in a rude tone and left for his room in long strides
“Look at him first. He ate all the cupcakes yesterday and now he is showing useless attitude to us. “
Rose uttered, getting irritated by Steve’s attitude.
Eva was feeling sad for Steve; she was very sure that Steve didn’t do that. But she knew her limits too, as she couldn’t interfere in their matters.
After lunch, when the family left their rooms, Eva served cupcakes on a plate and decided to chat with Steve. After all, Steve always supported her when she needed it
She slowly reached near Steve‘s room and knocked on it
“Who is it?” An enraged voice was heard
“ Can I come in? “ Eva just peeked inside his room
Steve got up from his bed in surprise. He opened the door wide for Eva to enter
"What are you here for?”
Eva forwarded the plate to him. "Come on now, have this. I trust you."
Steve was observing her face. He slowly got a plate and told Eva to take a seat. Eva got settled on a nearby recliner sofa
‘Thank you for trusting me and for this too.” “
“So how is it?
"Good, very delicious, as expected from you."
“Steve, your parents don’t want to hurt you; it was just that. They are waiting to taste it, and when they didn’t find it in the fridge, they got upset, so they just took it out on you. Please don’t mind them."
“I know that, but who must have done this, as the staff will never dare to do this kind of act?" Actually, mom always took care of the staff meals."
“Ooh! Come on, think little; at least it’s a matter of some cupcakes.”
"Hmm, you are right also; today is your holiday. What are you going to do?"
“Nothing much. Talk to my friends and then wait for dad’s call. And may be read some book."
“Sounds like a boring plan, but I could make it interesting. “
“Really, and how will you do that?’
“See no offense, but if you can trust me, then I can take you to a club.”
“Club!!”
“Yeah! Wait a minute, you never have been to a club."
“No. I mean, there is one club in our town, and dad never allows me to visit there.
But my other friends visited that place and they always told me how awesome it is. “
Eva was narrating all this in a dreamy tone
Steve chuckled at her actions at first, which broke her trance. Eva got embarrassed first but then gave a smile at him
"So would you like to come with me?”
"Hmm, I will love it too but I want to inform Rose first. Then we can go, “
“Sure “
Eva exited his room and started searching for Rose; she spotted her in the living room. She was discussing something with William .
Eva reached near them and got settled on one of the couches, waiting for their conversation to end. When William and Rose spotted her.
What happened ? Is something wrong?”
"No, actually, Steve wanted to take me to a club so can I go?”
“You really want to go with him,” Rose asked in surprise
“Hmm yes,”
“Okay but just take care of yourself, “William politely said to Eva
Eva was delighted to get the permission
She quickly left for her room On her way there, she got crashed into Stephen
She apologized and swiftly departed, not pausing for his reaction. Stephen was left bewildered by the cause of his girlfriend's immense joy.
He reached the living room to his parents and passed a file to his dad
“ Dad, just go through these papers and then sign it if everything is fine."
“Hmm “
Once again, Eva reached the living room holding some dresses in her hands
“Rose, please help me. What should I wear tonight?”
“Tonight? What’s tonight?” Stephen asked in curiosity
“Actually, she is going to the club with Steve."
“Club! With Steve? “ Stephen almost shouted, making the others flinched
"What's wrong with you, man?”
"Listen to me, mom, nobody is going to the club. If Steve wants to go, he can go alone, but no one else will accompany him. Is that clear?"
William Rose was looking at Stephen in shock, whereas Eva was feeling devastated. Tears brimmed in her eyes, and she quickly left for her room, wiping tears from the back of her palm
‘ What was this behavior, Stephen? Why did you spoil their plan?
“Because it’s not safe for Eva, and why did you allow her to go with Steve?". don’t you know how careless Steve can be? I.. I mean, we cannot trust Eva with him."
“ But she was so excited about this. You know it was her first time to visit a club. Poor child, you made her cry. ”
Stephen took a deep breath. "Okay, if you want this mom, then I will allow them to go, but only on one condition.
Rose reached Eva‘s room and found her sobbing badly. It scattered her heart to see her like this. She got settled beside her and patted her head
“Don’t cry, dear. If you keep crying like this, then how will you look good tonight?’
Eva looked at Rose in surprise. "Yes, you are going to the club tonight."
“But he..”
"Oh, forget about him and show me your dresses. I will select the best for you."
Eva hugged Rose in joy. Soon Rose and Eva got busy selecting the perfect dress, then footwear, then her makeup.
It was late evening when Eva was all ready to start for the club. When she reached the drawing room, she found Steve waiting for her in the living room.
“So all set for the fun."
“Yes “
“Shall we?" Steve forwarded his hand and Eva held it with a smile
When they reached the entrance of smith mansion, Eva gasped in surprise as Stephen and Richard were standing near the car, busy in chatting with each other
Eva gave a questioning look at Steve, who just shrugged his shoulders
“He allowed you only if he would accompany us to the club."
Eva wanted to drop the idea of the club after looking at Stephen, as she can assume how much fun they were going to have now in the club as Stephen, who will keep glaring at them all the time.
But she didn’t want to spoil Steve’s mood, so she just reached near the car
Richard greets her, to which she replies with a weak smile.
Stephen knew why her mood was off, but he didn’t care for it now as her safety is more important to him.
They started for the club in one car. Steve and Eva got settled in the passenger seat, whereas Richard was driving the car and Stephen was sitting on the front seat

After an hour's drive, they reached the Floyd Club, and as it was the weekend, it was already bustling with people. Steve has the vip pass as he was the vip customer and a regular one to this club
All of them got settled near the bar counter
Steve orders drinks for everyone. Of course, Eva got settled for a mocktail
Stephen was keeping a keen eye on the surroundings. His guards were already present there.
Richard was enjoying his drink when Steve took Eva to the dance floor. Stephen was looking at them with gritty teeth
Eva doesn’t know this type of dancing style but Steve guided her well and soon she enjoys on the music beats
Richard was enjoying their dance but Stephen was not liking it, The way Eva kept giggling at Steve’s dialogue
It still surprised Stephen how quickly these two turned friends. It was the same Eva who used to get irritated by Steve’s talks, and look at her now. How is she enjoying his company?
“Why are you looking so disturbed as everything is fine and under control,” Richard asks Stephen
“You never know when you will get into trouble, so just keep alert."
“Hmm, so are these two dating each other?"
“What? no.!”
‘ Relax, I was just asking as they both are looking comfortable with each other."
“They are just friends, “Stephen replied with gritted teeth
“Ok if you say so, but you know your brother. As far as I know, he will not take much time to jump from friendship to dating."
Stephen just scowled at Richard. He was regretting his decision to bring this moron along with him to the club.
“I know my brother, but I know Eva too. She will approve nothing like that.
She is very focused on her life. Didn't you hear her thoughts last night? She is not like the girls who are interested in flings or affairs. She is girl with a good upbringing, so don’t worry about them, as she knew very well how to handle him

Hmm, maybe missed you are right but you missed mentioning one more point. “
“Which point?”
“She is a naive girl with a soft heart, so these types of girls are ideal targets for boys like Steve. You know I will not be surprised in the future if I come to know that they are dating each other. See, no offense, but I am just keeping my point of view."
Richard‘s words left Stephen in deep thought, as he was not completely wrong. He glanced at the dance floor and found Eva giggling with Steve.
Stephen decided to do something to keep Steve away from Eva.
