Chapter 35

CHAPTER THIRTY-FIVE

Aaron

“I think I’m gonna keep it this short,” I say side eyeing Kendall for her reaction.

I know she likes my hair longer and she’s been extra sassy tonight, doing her best to fire me up.

She gets a few drinks in her and everything shifts.

It’s to my advantage, because these moods make for really hot nights.

“Shave it off.” Kendall shrugs. Finishing the last of her drink she stands and arches her brow, staring down at me. “Whenever I get the urge to comb my fingers through a guy’s hair I’m sure I’ll be able to find some volunteers.”

Instantly Leo and his longer blond locks fill my mind and anger shoots through me.

Setting my beer down I stand and stomp toward her. She must hear me coming because she spins around to face me and her eyes grow wide.

I don’t give her any time to fight me, instead I bend down and place my shoulder into her waist and toss her over my shoulder.

A surprised yelp echoes over the lake as I march toward it.

She’s been giving me shit all day, waking up in one of her feisty moods.

I hear the girls yelling and the guys chuckling but I don’t let it stop me. I walk the both of us into the lake and toss her into the water. When she comes up she is sputtering water and wiping it from her face.

“You asshole,” she screams.

I stand there, with my hands on my hips staring and waiting for her to charge me because I know she will.

“I’m the asshole, you’ve been an ass since you rolled out of bed.

You’ve been in a mood since your mom showed up that night.

I get it I do, and I’ll take it, baby. Because I love you and I know you just need to get it all out.

So I’ll keep throwing you in lakes until you stop giving me so much shit. ” I chuckle when she glares at me.

“I cannot believe you just did that.”

“Well believe it,” I tell her and she walks toward me.

“You’re insane,” Kendall says and the corner of her lips tip into a grin.

“You said you never wanted to stop being spontaneous.”

“And this is your idea of spontaneous?”

“It was the first reaction that popped into my head.” I shrug. “Thought you needed to cool off, since your attitude has been shit today.”

“Now I smell like a lake.” I nod.

“And so do you.”

“This solved what?” she asks.

“Shut you up for a minute didn’t it?” She doesn’t respond and I take a step closer. “Tell me your gonna run your heads through some man’s hair again and I’ll shave yours to match mine.”

“You wouldn’t!” Her glare deepens.

“Test me,” I tell her before turning around and walking back up toward the house pausing near the cooler. Pulling out a beer I pop the top and tilt it back. Downing half the contents I take a deep breath to calm my racing pulse.

“I can’t believe you just tossed her into the lake.

” Jillian laughs, then quickly covers her mouth looking toward the place I’d left Kendall.

“She is going to smother you in the middle of the night.” She giggles and then moves away from me like she had to create distance so Kendall didn’t think she’d been on my side of this situation.

These girls were always united, no matter what, they were on the same side.

I smile and walk back over taking a seat in one of the wooden chairs closest to the fire.

I watch Kendall pacing near the water, as if she is having an inner battle with herself.

She pauses, fists her hands at her sides, then paces again.

Eventually she makes her way back up the small incline joining everyone else again.

When Lexi offers her some dry clothes she declines as if she has something to prove. “I’m good,” she says then looks over at me, holding my stare. She sure is fired up, but she’s been this way all day. “You better sleep with one eye open.”

“You don’t scare me, babe.”

“That is your second mistake.”

“Oh yeah,” I chuckle, “what was my first?”

“Thinking I’d let you get away with tossing me in the lake.” She doesn’t wait for me to respond. Instead she stands and makes her way to the cooler, grabbing her own beer.

“Damn.” I glance over to see Rory chuckling as he shakes his head. “I thought Adley and I fought and bickered a lot. But you two, I’ve never tossed her in the lake.”

“Keeps things interesting,” I say, waggling my brows.

“That it does, brother,” He smirks. “That it does.”

She stands in the shower, the water cascading down her body, as she runs her hands through her hair. I stand back, watching, taking every inch of her in, etching it to memory.

My chest feels so tight, making it hard to breathe.

Discarding my clothes, I toss them to the floor where hers lay.

Stepping in, I walk toward her and slide my palm over her hip.

She spins around, facing me, her eyes narrowed. “Did I invite you?”

“No.” I walk her backwards until her back bumps against the shower wall. “But you also aren’t kicking me out,” I challenge her, and she only stares at me. “The real question is, do you want me to go?”

I remain as I am, not taking things further, but also not backing away.

Then after a few passing moments she moves in, cupping the back of my neck and pulling my lips to hers.

As we always do, we quickly get lost in one another. She turns, placing her hands on the shower wall and arches her ass, rubbing against me.

When I push forward, entering her, she gasps and I stay perfectly still giving her time to adjust. When she shifts, silently begging for me, I give her what she is demanding. The sounds of her moaning, the way she pushes back every single time I shift forward, drives me wild.

We are so in sync with one another.

So perfect for each other.
