. . .
Smiling, I watched Crown in the studio as he worked on his next album. This man was a musical genius, and the words flowed effortlessly. Last month, he held a basketball charity event to raise money for the Boys and Girls Club in Dreamville, Law Grove, and Heartville.
Removing his headphones, Crown opened the studio door and sauntered over with a big grin on his face. He pecked my lips and pulled Crown Jr. from my hands. He squirmed, but his daddy had a good hold on him.
A year after we made it official, I found out I was pregnant. Crown spent more time with me, making sure I was comfortable and had everything I needed, than working. He had more than enough money to not have to put another album out or tour for years, but after Crown Jr. made his way into the world, he went back to work. He said he had all the inspiration to create his next album.
“’Sup lil’ man. How daddy’s baby doin’?”
I stretched. “He’s been hogging my breasts all morning,” I chuckled.
“I can’t wait ‘til they mine again,” Crown snorted. “You just took my woman from me, Jr.”
I was no longer Crown’s girlfriend; I was his wife. We were at the Hip Hop Awards when Crown brought me on stage with him, and that’s when everyone noticed the bump, at which point Crown announced that we were expecting. Everyone jumped to their feet, clapping and congratulating us. What I didn’t realize was that Crown got down on one knee and asked me to marry him. They transformed the background behind us into a stage of flowers spelling out Will You Marry Me? I messed up my makeup that night, but luckily, there was a MUA on standby, thanks to Nisha. Everyone, including Asia and Shamar, knew what Crown had planned for the evening. We married a month later in our massive backyard. Crown bought me my dream house, which sat on twenty-five acres.
Life was so good. I even attempted to repair my relationship with my Mother, but she will never change. She had a jealous, miserable soul, and it was sad because she wouldn’t have a relationship with her grandson either.
I never heard from Shawn again after Crown threatened him. That was what was best for him. I didn’t know what was going on in his life, and I didn’t care. My past was just that—my past.
Imagine me never wanting to love again, and I meet this man who practically bullies me into being around him. Imagine him being so persistent that I actually start enjoying his company, and he wins my heart over. Imagine me being his peace and him not knowing that he was actually mine. Yeah, my life was at peace, and I finally found real love.
