Chapter 38

I”M HERE REBEL

Rebel Pierce

My hands were shaking. I shook them out and blew out a breath. I was sitting on his lap, behind the desk in his office at the clubhouse.

“You don’t have to do this,” J.D. whispered in my ear. “We can find another way.”

I wasn’t nervous about making the phone call. I was worried about the aftermath. I was more concerned about what would happen to him if all of this went to hell. He could either die or go to prison. And I didn’t want either to happen. But as soon as I made this phone call, it would be my fault if something went wrong. It would be my fault if Siobhan had to grow up without her father. And it would be my fault if the man, I loved wouldn’t be in my life.

“I’m not nervous about making the phone call.”

“Then what is it?” He grabbed my hands. “You’re shaking.”

“I just don’t want anything to happen to you. If I do this, that’s a very real possibility. Then Siobhan will grow up without her father and I won’t get to have a life with you either.”

As he sighed, he pulled me into his warm embrace. With my head against his chest, I enjoyed the warmth of his body and the softness of his embrace.

“There’s nothing I can say that will kill that fear for you, Rebel. I won’t lie to you. There’s a real possibility that all hell will break loose.”

“You’re not making me feel any better.”

“Do you want me to lie to you so you’ll feel better or do you want the truth?”

“Of course, I want the truth. I’m just having a hard time thinking about the consequences of what I’m about to do.”

“Sweetheart, that’s why I’m not pressuring you to do this. I can find another way to get to Revels.”

Breaking free from his hold, I met his gaze directly. “But this is the easiest way, right?”

Even though I already knew the answer, I needed to ask. As soon as I called to have a meeting with Revels, he’d jump at the chance. All I had to do was convince him I was ready to give him whatever he needed to take J.D. down. I had no doubt what Revels would do, but the possibility of anything going wrong loomed over me.

“Yes, I think it’s the easiest way,” he said. “But it’s not the only way.”

I grabbed the burner phone J.D. gave me earlier to use from the desk, dialed the FBI Field Office then pushed the speaker button. There was no more debating it.

Charlotte FBI Field Office. How may I direct your call?

“Could you please connect me to Agent Alan Revels?”

Please hold.

As the phone rang, I exhaled a breath of anticipation. J.D. squeezed my hand providing me some comfort. Despite my rattled nerves, I mustered the courage to do what needed to be done. My focus was on finding answers, not on the potential consequences if everything went wrong.

According to J.D., the guys had come up with a foolproof plan that left no room for error. My only task was to convince Agent Revels to meet me at the designated place. Although I wasn’t entirely convinced it would work, I hoped everything would fall into place.

“Agent Revels.”

“It’s Rebel Pierce.”

He fell silent for a moment, and I exchanged a wide-eyed glance with J.D. He was probably already suspicious about me calling. Doubts crept in, making me wonder if this had been the right decision. J.D. motioned for me to keep going.

“Are you there, Agent Revels?”

He cleared his throat. “Yes. I’m here. How can I help you, Ms. Pierce?”

“We need to talk.”

“About what?”

“Not about what, Agent Revels. This is about who. Unless you don’t need my help anymore, then I guess I can end this call right now. Have a nice...”

“No, no, no...,” he said, interrupting me.

I smiled at J.D. because I knew Agent Revels wouldn’t miss out on this opportunity.

“How quick can you get to my office?”

“Yeah. That’s not going to work unless you want my godfather to interfere again. What I’ve got to say you’ll want to hear in private.”

Another moment passed, and he remained silent. Despite the possibility of a setup, his deep-seated vendetta against J.D. would cloud his judgment. At least that was what I hoped.

“What do you suggest?” he asked.

“Meet me near the old, abandoned training school just outside the city in two hours. And come alone, Agent Revels. If you don’t or some harm comes to me, my team has orders to destroy you,” I said, ending the call.

I handed the phone to J.D. and blew out a breath of relief. It was finally done. I watched as he removed the sim card from the burner phone, broke it, then smashed the phone. He sat the broken phone on top of his desk.

“You did good, sweetheart.”

“You just make sure you come back to me after all this shit is over,” I said.

A warm smile spread across his face, lighting up his eyes. “You’re bossy when your stressed,” he said, rubbing my thigh.

I noticed he didn’t respond to what I said. I knew it was because he didn’t want to get my hopes up. Anything could happen and I needed to prepare myself for all the potential outcomes.

I ran my hand through his dark silky hair and his eyes closed. I loved the feel of it against my skin.

“I love you, J.D.”

His eyes opened, and he gazed into my eyes. Whether he voiced his feelings, I knew he cared for me. And before he could even respond I shifted my position on his lap, straddling his hips.

With his hands on my ass, he guided my center over his growing erection. He watched me intently like he didn’t want to forget me. My heart jolted inside my chest and my pulse pounded, the sound echoing in my ears.

His mouth covered mine with ease and his kiss sent the pit of my stomach swirling. Even though he hadn’t voiced his feelings, he didn’t have to. Everything we felt for one another was shown in this moment.

As we kissed passionately, my fingers fumbled with the button of his jeans. Once I was able to undo them, J.D. lifted his hips, allowing him to pull down his pants and boxers. I pulled up my maxi skirt, revealing my waist, while he tore my underwear. He guided me down his firm, pulsating shaft. And I eagerly embraced him, feeling his presence fill every inch of my body and my heart. We both sighed, savoring the intimate connection as I leaned my forehead against his, shutting my eyes and reveling in his presence.

“Fuck, you feel good,” he said, his lips brushing against mine as he spoke.

His grip on my ass tightened, his blunt nails digging in my ass as he continued to move me up and down his cock.

“I don’t want this to end,” I confessed, looking into his eyes. “I want a life with you.”

“Fuck, I want that too, baby. We’ll have it. I’ll make sure of it.”

“Promise?”

“Only Death will keep that from happening,” he said, meeting my movements with his own thrusts.

The thought of him dying filled me with fear, but I was determined to cherish the moment. I needed him, his presence was like a lifeline. I needed this moment with him, so I could etch it into my memory in case it was our final one together.

“Come back to me, love,” he whispered, nibbling on my bottom lip. “I’m here, Rebel. I’m here to stay.”

Tears welled in my eyes as I nodded. As his thrusts quickened, my hips matched the rhythm, intensifying the motion of our bodies. Ecstasy washed over me in waves as his thrusts grew more intense. I matched his movements, feeling the sweat bead on my forehead as I chased euphoria. My body trembled with pleasure, and a soft moan of ecstasy escaped my lips as the tingling sensation spread from my head to my toes.

“J.D...”

“Let go, baby. I feel your walls fluttering around my dick.” He gripped my hips taking control of our movements. “Come, Rebel.”

He slapped my ass, and that was all it took to push me over the edge. Closing my eyes, I tilted my head back, feeling the wave of bliss cascade over me.

“Yes!” I shouted, my voice echoing through the room.

He traced his tongue along the length of my neck, heightening the pleasure as he thrust deeper inside me.

Harder.

Faster.

“Fuck,” he groaned into the crook of my neck, his breath tickling my skin as he released inside me, his movements still rhythmic and intense.

When he finally stopped, I leaned my head against his shoulder, feeling the warmth and strength of his body. His hand moved up and down my back.

“I love you, Rebel Pierce.”

I sat up and gazed at him.

“No matter what happens today, never forget that,” he said.

I couldn’t help the intense emotions swirling around inside me. I refused to look at this special moment as a goodbye even though that was exactly what it felt like.
