Chapter 24 - Regina
J ust vegging out on the couch for a while and sipping my coffee has done a lot for my state of mind.
Chayce reluctantly got up and made us some dinner, neither of us really wanting to move. Once we ate and cleaned up the dirty dishes, we made our way back to the couch. This is where we are now. Both of us are lying on our side, facing the television. With him behind me and his arm draped over my waist, Chayce draws random patterns on my skin. The innocent touch is soothing.
There is something about this man that settles me.
Deciding to be brave, I push my ass back into him, wiggling a little. His hand stills immediately as his chest heats. Neither of us says anything as I repeat the motion. This time, his chest rumbles.
Chayce moves his hand to my hip, playing with the hem of my shirt. Slowly, he moves it up, exposing skin above the waistband of my pants. The random patterns resume over the newly exposed flesh.
Pushing my shit higher with each pass, Chayce moves his hands, massaging the muscles of my lower back. It feels so good a moan slips out, causing him to still his movements. Looking over my shoulder at him, my tone is one of annoyance.
“Why did you stop?”
“You moaned…” he says, stating the obvious.
“Yeah, and? It feels, or felt, good,” I say with a duh style tone. "until you stopped."
Instead of replying, Chayce pushes his hips forward. His hard cock presses into my back. My eyes bug out at the size of that thing, worried if it will fit. Deciding to take control of the situation, I roll over to face him, almost falling off the couch in the process.
Leaning up, pressing my lips to his, it isn’t long before he takes control of the kiss. Nibbling on my lower lip, he takes it between his teeth, biting gently. Tossing a leg over his hips, our centers line up almost perfectly. As our tongues duel, our hips start to grind against each other, and our breathing becomes heavy.
Chayce’s hand moves up under my shirt. When he reaches my breast, he kneads it, letting out a soft moan of appreciation. Yanking the cup of my bra down, he frees my tit and plays with my nipple. Releasing my lip, Chayce trails kisses along my jawline and neck.
The shrill sound of his cell phone ringing is like a bucket of ice water has been dropped on us. Chayce lowers his head to the crook of my neck, mumbling expletives under his breath. The ringing stops and starts right back up again. Helping me sit up, he pulls the annoying device from his back pocket.
“What?” he barks into the phone, causing me to chuckle. I bury my head in his chest in an attempt to muffle the sound.
He heaves out a heavy sigh as he urges me to my feet. Fixing my bra, knowing that our night has been interrupted, I move to the far end of the couch. Chayce stands, heading to the kitchen with the phone still at his ear. Pocketing his keys, keeping the phone wedged between his neck and shoulder, his free hand moves to his crotch, where he adjusts himself.
“Fine,” he sighs out. “See you in ten.” He ends the call and pockets his phone.
A soft smile graces my lips at his dejected look.
“Duty calls, I presume?”
Walking toward me, Chayce gives me a quick nod in answer to my question. Rising to my feet, meeting him halfway across the room, my arms automatically go around his neck as he leans down to kiss me. Just as the kiss turns heated, he pulls back. Placing his forehead against mine, “I apologize for this.”
“It is your job—don’t worry about it,” I scoff as if I have the right to get offended.
“When I get back, can we pick up where we left off?” he asks hopefully.
“I will be naked and waiting,” I quip. My words hit their mark, causing him to shiver.
“Thanks,” he grinds out. “My dick was already hard. Now I could pound nails into a two-by-four with the damn thing.”
Suppressing a chuckle at his state of arousal, I urge him toward the door.
“Go save the town,” I say in a strict tone. “Just be safe,” I add on.
“Okay, make yourself at home. It is, after all, your house now too,” he reminds me.
Placing a chaste kiss on my lips, Chayce walks out the door through the kitchen.
It occurs to me that this is my life now. Worrying about Rafferty has always been a burden of having a loved one on the police force. Now, being mated or married or whatever, I will constantly be on edge, worrying about Chayce coming home.
Padston is not Boston by a long shot. Most of the town is paranormal, and being a dragon, Chayce is the top predator. How easy is it to hurt or maim a dragon?
Ugh! Just as I start to wind down, more questions run like a marathon in my head. I need something stronger to drink than just coffee.
