LUCY RAE

There were a lot of rules when it came to being a cam girl.

From not giving out your real name to any kind of hint of where you actually lived, because there were too many weirdos out in the real world to even try and tempt fate.

I’d heard too many cautionary tales from one cam girl to another that I’d never toed that line. Honestly, I’d never been tempted to, if I was being honest.

Being as vague as possible with my subscribers had come easily.

It was important not to blur the lines in this industry.

It had been easy. Until two months ago, when a new subscriber came in and shook my life up like he was holding it in a snow globe, and now all I could do was watch the sparkling bits land where they might around me.

Keeping the man I knew as DaddyV an arm’s length away wasn’t easy.

Real life had somehow bubbled into work life and vice versa.

Camming was fun to me. Exciting, even.

But the harsh reality was that it was also nerve wrecking at times.

Your subscribers might pay to see you, but sometimes you got crazy judgmental assholes who loved to humiliate and degrade you when you didn’t give their messages enough attention.

Those were easy to fix, though. You simply blocked them, and that was it.

Problem fixed. The other issue with camming was how incredibly lonely it could be.

So many people, men mostly, looked down at you when you were honest about what you did for work. Which was ironic considering they were the same men who subscribed and sent tips for every little morsel you offered them.

I’d tried dating after becoming a cam girl. But after the second time I’d gone on a first date and a guy had looked his nose down at me for being who I was and not having any shame about it, I’d decided I was done with dating.

I hadn’t been on one in over two years.

I worked, hung out with friends, enjoyed my hobbies, and that was it.

It was good enough for me.

But maybe because of that and the fact my best friend was now happily married, and I felt like a nuisance bugging her to hang out when she had a new husband at home, I had been really lonely. And a lonely Lucy was never good.

A lonely Lucy always found herself in some kind of trouble or shenanigan.

And boy, that was definitely the case now.

The biggest rule of all, the most important one when being a cam girl, was not to get emotionally tangled up with a client.

Or were they customers? Whatever I wanted to call them, catching feelings for a subscriber, to me personally, had always been a huge no-no since I’d started camming the morning after I’d turned twenty.

Something I genuinely enjoyed doing.

I wasn’t doing it to pay for something honorable like my education, and it wasn’t a means to an end so I could get out of a bad situation.

I liked what I did.

I loved it, actually.

Exploring and chatting with strangers might sound like social anxiety annex to some, but for me, it had felt like almost a calling.

And getting paid so they could shower you in compliments while you did what you were already going to do behind closed doors?

Why not? I knew what people saw when they first looked at me.

Thanks to my height and coloring, curves and probably the way I held myself, everyone assumed I was shy and sweet.

Almost innocent. And if I was honest, I worked that to my advantage.

But I’d messed up.

Colossally.

Not that I had anyone to talk to these days.

Monica, my childhood bestie, and I had grown apart since she got married.

And that was okay. Monica was great, but if I was honest, she was a little judgmental.

Well, a lot judgmental. And I could only imagine what she would have to say about DaddyV and the fact I’d let him worm his way not just under my skin but deep down into the marrow of who I was.

DaddyV. Just thinking about him, I couldn’t help but wonder for the millionth time what the V stood for.

Vince? Victor? Vance? I sighed as I looked down at my phone, his contact info already saved and added in to my contacts as just Daddy with a Batman picture I’d found online holding a tiny Hello Kitty next to him.

The moment I’d seen it, I’d thought of him and me.

I wasn’t sure why, but I had a feeling he’d be that big, fierce protector who would do anything, cross any boundary for the woman he loved.

What would that feel like? To be loved to the point of obsession?

To be the center of someone’s universe without a shadow of a doubt?

To have someone you could count on no matter what?

Someone who saw you for more than what you did and loved who you were through and through.

I chewed on my thumbnail, nervously contemplating what to do.

After I’d cammed privately with DaddyV, I’d taken a nap and then made some lunch. I’d worked on a puzzle I’d picked up on a whim, and once my back had started to hurt from hunching over my kitchen table, I’d made myself a little snack plate with cheese and fruits and took a long bath.

A bath where I’d teased my body up but hadn’t touched myself.

Any time I tried now when I was on my own, I couldn’t seem to get off completely. The only way I could now was when I was chatting with DaddyV.

Now, freshly showered, then pacing in my oversized tee and panties, I was sitting on my couch and stared at his contact information.

I’d never called or texted a subscriber before.

I’d had my share of men give me their numbers. They’d plead and beg to give them a ring, to give them a chance to get to know them in the real world, but I’d never crossed that line. I’d never even been tempted to, no matter how much money they offered.

But DaddyV was different. I knew it to my soul. There was no way I could stop feelings from forming because they already existed. I liked him. I more than liked him. He was funny and fiercely protective, even if it was just behind a screen.

Deep down, I knew I wasn’t going to be able to resist calling him.

Me: Hi V. It’s, Lucy.

I typed out and quickly deleted it. I couldn’t tell him my real name. Right? That would be too much too fast and seriously stupid!

Me: Hi V. It’s me.

My heart felt like it was about to explode right out of my chest when I hit Send. I couldn’t blink. For half a second, I wondered if I had fucked up by texting, but then I saw it. The READ signal and three little bubbles popping up to let me know he was typing back.

Holy shit! He is typing back!

Daddy V: Hi Me. How are you, Sunny girl?

Sunny girl! He knew who I was! This was good, right?

It meant he wasn’t some kind of player handing his number out to anyone in a skirt.

Unless he called everyone his Sunny girl.

My brows bunched at the acid that churned in my gut at the thought.

Jealousy like I’d never felt swelled up inside of me.

I was being ridiculous! He wasn’t mine. Not really.

Me: I’m good… just sitting here thinking about you.

I hit Send and winced. I bit my thumbnail.

Shit! Was that too much?! Guys freak out when— I jumped, almost coming out of my skin, when my phone rang.

Before I even looked at it, I knew who it was.

My heart raced and hand shook when I reached for my phone.

Without bothering to look at the screen, I hit Answer and pressed the phone to my ear.

“Hi,” I whispered. Okay, so, usually, I wasn’t shy, but in that moment, I was woman enough to admit nerves were getting the better of me. Time slowed and blood rushed with an almost deafening roar in my ears.

What would he sound like?

Old?

Young?

Would he even be a he?

“Hey, gorgeous,” he broke the silence. His deep, rich voice felt like a caress over my skin, making me break out into goose flesh all while feeling like a soothing balm.

“Hey.” I swallowed hard. “You called,” I breathed out.

“Figured since you texted, you wouldn’t mind. Unless I’m wrong. We can end the call and—"

“No! I mean yes. No.” Oh god, why was I stumbling over my words? “I don’t mind,” I finally spit out. “I’m actually— I’m glad you called.” And that was the god’s honest truth.

“Were you worried about what I might sound like?” he wondered.

“A little,” I admitted with a full grin on my face.

“And now?”

“I’m really glad you called.”

“I’m glad, Sunny girl.”

“It’s Lucy.” The words slipped past my lips before I could overthink, like I needed to remind him of who he was talking to just in case he used that nickname on every woman in his life. Not to mention something inside of me was craving to hear my name roll off his tongue

“Excuse me?”

“My name. My real name. It’s Lucy.”

“Lucy, baby, you shouldn’t give a stranger your real name. That could be really fucking dangerous,” he rasped. My breath hitched in my throat.

“But you’re not a stranger, are you, Daddy?” My voice turned breathy like it did when I was camming.

No. That wasn’t right. It was breathy like when I cammed for him.

“Fuck,” he cursed. The deep guttural tone made my skin break out into goose flesh. “My girl horny?”

“I wasn’t until I heard your voice,” I replied honestly.

“Hmm,” he rumbled deeply. “Where are you?” he asked with a scratchy tone to his voice.

“In my living room.”

“Hmm,” he grunted. “On your couch?” I swallowed hard. “Tell me, little girl, so I can paint a clear picture in my head,” he demanded tenderly with a dominance I wanted to submit to.

“Yes,” I whispered. I felt like I was on fire from the inside out. Wetness coated my thighs, and my nipples beaded tightly against the soft cotton of the oversized tee I wore.

“Just sitting there thinking about daddy so much, you had to text me?” he asked, knowing just how to get in my head.

In our private chats I always got off. Not because I knew my body or even came close to faking it with him. I always came because of him. His words. The way they’d get in my head, the exact thing I needed to get from him to get me off.

But hearing him? His deep, gravel-like tone was just the icing on the cake. Never in my life had I ever been this wet. This needy.
