Chapter 9

CHAPTER NINE

Shadow

“DNA test results show none of us to be the father,” Nightmare announces, comically doing his best to impersonate Maury, making several of our brothers laugh.

As amusing as it may be, I’m not in a laughing mood. It doesn’t matter that I’m relieved to know none of us is the father, that bitch came here claiming her kid was mine. I’ve never fucked a woman without a condom.

I get not everything is a hundred percent, but still, her showing up here the way she had doesn’t sit well with me. She’s up to something, and I want to know what it is.

“Have you noticed her trying to do anything?” I ask, directing my question toward Tormentor and Phantom.

“Other than trying to act like the queen around here? Nope,” Phantom answers.

“She’s been trying to tell the saddle bunnies she’s gonna be your ol’ lady.

We put a stop to that,” Tormentor adds grimly.

“Since she couldn’t keep her mouth shut when it came to being out of the room we’re keeping her in, we’ve refused to let her out.

That woman tried to offer to suck my dick this morning. ”

“Said I could fuck her ass,” Phantom adds with a grunt and visibly shudders.

“That bitch is nuts,” Nightmare grumbles. “Considering the test results, what are we gonna do with her?”

“We’re gonna find out what the hell she thinks she’s playin’ at in my clubhouse,” Lucifer growls. “Tormentor, get the prospect to bring her here. I want the damn truth out of her.”

“You got it, Prez,” Tormentor says, getting to his feet and leaving church.

“I’ve been able to see her movements over the past months since she’s been gone,” Dread announces. “Marcy is stupid when it comes to covering her tracks.”

“What did you find?” I ask.

“She’s been spending a lot of time up north in Blackcreek.

” Dread leans back in his seat, hands behind his head, looking relaxed, though we all know he’s anything but.

“I’ve looked into Marcy’s family; they moved there after she turned eighteen.

She stayed behind instead of going with them.

When we kicked her out, that had been the first time she had gone to their place.

Marcy has been staying with her folks there until she came back to town.

She’s been staying at The Ridge Hotel until she checked out the other morning before coming here.

According to her accounts, she’s broke and doesn’t have a job. ”

“So, she thought she could take advantage and think we’re all a bunch of stupid fucks. She figured she could put the blame for getting knocked up on one of us,” I snarl, pissed beyond measure.

Because of her, I’d left Della alone at the hospital and haven’t heard from her.

I knew she was back home, still I’d told her to call me.

I’d have given her a damn ride. That was two days ago.

Two days of not seeing her. It didn’t matter I’d only spent hours around her.

She was back home and consuming my thoughts, unlike anyone else has before.

When we finish this shit up, I’m going to head out to the ranch and see her for myself. This is something I decided over the past few days. I’m going to find out what it is about her that draws my attention.

It has to be more than the attitude. When she was younger, little mousey Della never caught my attention as she does now, not like this. She’s changed a lot in the years, and damn if the thought doesn’t go straight to my dick. She’s something else, and I want to learn everything about her.

I’m drawn from my thoughts of Della when the door opens, and Tormentor not so subtly pulls Marcy into the room.

“What’s going on?” she snaps, hands going to her hips as Tormentor lets her go. Our brother retakes his seat while she glances around the room, eyes coming to mine. “Are you going to let me sit with you, Shadow, baby?”

“Fuck no,” I grunt, my lip curling in disgust at the very thought.

“So, what? I’m just supposed to remain standing here while you all sit?”

“That’s exactly what you’re going to do,” Lucifer sneers. “You are not a member of this club. You are not an ol’ lady. Not even a saddle bunny. Marcy, you are nothing to this club. We don’t give two shits about you.”

“I’m pregnant, and it’s Shadow’s,” she cries.

“No, it’s not.” I slam a fist on the table, which causes her to jump, eyes going wide as she takes a step back. “You know damn well you’re not carrying my kid.”

“I am,” she screams.

“No, you’re not,” Nightmare speaks up. “You aren’t pregnant by anyone in this club. The tests prove it.”

“You altered the tests,” Marcy accuses.

Nightmare rises from his seat, hands to the table, and he leans forward.

“I’m not a fuckin’ liar, Marcy. When it comes to anything involving my brothers, no way in hell would I fuck with results either way.

If it’s their kid, they have a right to know.

If it’s not, same goes. You’re the only one here that’s a damn liar. ”

Marcy’s face turns beet red, tears flowing freely out of anger or fear, I’m not sure which. I didn’t care either way. She’s nothing.

“Why did you claim to be carrying my VP’s kid?” Lucifer demands.

“This is his kid,” she tries again.

“No, Marcy, it’s not,” I tell her. “Quit trying to say it is. We have the proof.”

“Whose kid is it?” Dread asks.

“Shadow–”

“Don’t even finish that accusation and tell us the fuckin’ truth,” Lucifer orders, far too calmly.

“No,” she says, straightening.

“That’s fine, you don’t have to share,” Lucifer states, watching her closely, “What you will tell us is why you thought you could pin this pregnancy on my brother here?”

Marcy seems to weigh her options before she gets that look of disgust on her face. “You want to know?”

“I wouldn’t ask a question if I didn’t want the answer.” Lucifer sneers, that calm cooling look even more. He’s losing his patience with this situation.

“Fine,” she snaps, eyes coming to me and narrowing. “You were supposed to be mine, and I knew if I was pregnant with your baby, I would be.”

“No, you wouldn’t. If it were my kid, I’d have gone for custody,” I say, completely over this bullshit. She’s not carrying my kid, and now it’s done. I have other things to get to.

“Why bring this to the club now?” Tormentor asks.

Good question.

“Fine, you wanna know so bad,” Marcy seethes. “I saw him outside Rodeo Roundup. I didn’t miss the way Shadow was watching Della Meadows leave. That little bitch always had a crush on him, and I knew with her back home she’d sink her claws into what’s mine.”

“I wasn’t shit to you, and you damn well know it. The only thing you were to me was an easy lay.”

“You didn’t have a problem fucking me for years.” She smirks, that sneer of hers turning up into a sly grin. “You even thought it was me you were trying to get inside of one night when Della so happened to be helping you get into your house.”

What the fuck?

“I’d heard you calling her my name and how you wanted to take me inside.” Marcy seems pleased with herself at the tidbit of information she’s decided is worth sharing.

“Bullshit.” I would have remembered something like that.

“It’s true. You were drunk off your ass. I was eighteen, and we’d been fucking for weeks.”

I try to remember this event, but I don’t have any recollection of it.

Though if it been when Marcy was eighteen, it was true that I’d been fucking her.

I was doing it regularly, mostly because it was easy and I’d been under a lot of stress with my mom’s cancer back then. Della, though, she was only seventeen.

Fuck.

Could this be why she’s the way she is around me? Not wanting me around?

If so, I’m gonna have to set things right with her.

“Tormentor, get her out of here and escort her off of club property,” Lucifer orders, eyes on Marcy. “I’ll tell you this once. You show up anywhere near one of us, anywhere that is owned by the club, we won’t stand for it. I’ll personally make your life a living hell.”

“You can’t do this to me,” Marcy screams. “I’ll go to the police. I’ll tell them you raped me.”

“Go ahead and try,” Nightmare grinds out, finally taking his seat back at the table. “I’d love to see you go there and have them believe you. If I’m not correct, you fucked half the men back in the day before you even became a saddle bunny.”

Small town, shit spreads. More like when it comes to Marcy, she spreads her legs for anyone who will have her. Though she always kept coming around me.

Fuck.

What the hell had I been thinking, sinking my dick into her?

Tormentor escorts Marcy out, her screams ear-piercing.

I feel for the man since he has to deal with her, but damn, I’m glad it’s him and not me.

We don’t hurt women and children, it’s a rule we live by.

However, Marcy tested that theory. I wanted to kill her for daring to suggest she was carrying my kid, it could have ruined everything.

Lucifer looks over in my direction, getting my attention. “You good?”

“Yeah.” It was a relief not to have to deal with Marcy.

“We’re gonna have to keep an eye on that one,” Shade, our road captain, states calmly.

“Oh, we will,” Lucifer grunts. “On to other things . . .”

Just like that, the topic changes, no need to worry further about a woman who is nothing more than a pain in our asses.

“Maddox called and asked for a sit-down to discuss the terms before he agrees to anything,” Lucifer says, eyes locking on me briefly.

“Della agreed to sell?” I ask. I’d spoken to Maddox since the hospital, checked on his sister, and according to him, knew she was all healed up. I wasn’t sure what he meant by that. What he did say was that he and his sister talked.

“Don’t know. He didn’t say, but she’ll be here for the meet as well.”

“When will they be here?” What is with me questioning Lucifer?

My Prez cocks a brow and gives me a knowing smile. “Tomorrow morning.”

I nod, keeping my mouth shut. No way was I waiting until tomorrow. I wanted to see Della today.
