Chapter 42

Forty-Two

VIVIENNE

Idon’t think I’ll be able to fall asleep, but as soon as I’m tucked in Lucca’s arms, my eyes begin to droop. If I close them, I know it won’t take long for me to succumb to slumber. But I sense Lucca’s turmoil. His muscles are tense underneath me.

“What’s on your mind?” I ask.

“A lot. I can’t believe Jacques had a secret daughter with Tatiana.”

“Do you believe what she said about the truce between your uncle and Tatiana being real?”

“I don’t know what to believe. Does that make me a bad person?”

“No, just a cautious one. I can only imagine the heartache you went through thanks to Tatiana’s army… and her hateful son.” I shiver, thinking about that monster.

“Did you get the sense that Boone assaulted Sophie?”

I run my finger around his nipple, distracted. “Yes. If he did, then I can understand why she wouldn’t be loyal to her mother. Vaughn believes her.”

Lucca chuckles. “I’m not even surprised your friend fell for the daughter of our number one enemy.”

“Hey, he’s our friend. And you sired him. Maybe you should do a better job as a mentor.”

Lucca pushes me onto my back and rolls on top of me, nudging my legs open to accommodate his body. Heat spreads through me, making me tingle all over. And when he gyrates his hips, causing friction between my legs, I moan out loud, my tiredness forgotten.

“How about I mentor you instead?”

The corners of my lips tug upward, but I fight to hide the smile that’s threatening to blossom. “Mentor me in what?”

He brings his nose to my neck, inhaling deeply before licking my skin. “Oh, I can think of many things to teach you.”

I tremble under his caress. “Is that so? Show me.”

He grazes my earlobe with his fangs while his hand slides down my stomach until his fingers find my clit. “How about this?”

I close my eyes, arching my back a little. “Hmm… are you teaching me to pleasure myself?”

“Yes, although I like to touch you. And I love—” He bites my neck without puncturing the skin. “—how wet you get for me.”

Staring at him, I cup his face while he continues to tease my clit without mercy. My toes curl as the orgasm approaches. “Bite me, Luc.”

His brow furrows. “Are you sure? You used a lot of magic today.”

I nod. “Yes, please. I’m recovered. I promise.”

He pulls his fingers away from my pussy, and I pout. “Hey!”

“Patience, my love,” he says a second before he penetrates me, stretching me in the most pleasurable way.

I open my legs wider, and Lucca sees that as a sign to lift one of them over his shoulder. His cock reaches deeper in this position, and he knows I love it.

“Yes, just like that,” I murmur.

He covers my lips with his fingers, then pries my mouth open so I can taste myself on his skin.

I suck his fingers, and he increases the pace of his thrusts, pounding into me.

Soon, I’m on the verge of climaxing again.

Lucca’s eyes shine red, and his brows are creased in a deep V. It’s his tell that he’s close.

“Now, Lucca. Do it now!”

He bites the inside of my leg, his fangs breaking the skin as if it was butter. The sharp sting of pain feeds the pleasure that had already being building, and it shoots me into orbit. I shout his name as loud as I can as he unravels me utterly and completely.

He lets my leg slide off his shoulder so he can pull me onto his lap and crush his lips to mine. I taste my blood on his tongue, but also his addictive flavor that I can’t quite describe. I’m caught in a tempest, and we’re so close that I don’t know whose air I’m breathing.

Lucca’s fingers dig into my hips as he takes control of my movements. He grows larger and harder inside me. I know he likes pain too, so I grab a fistful of his hair and yank back.

He groans against my mouth before his body shakes and he fills me with his hot seed. He’s breathing hard when he jerks one last time before going still.

I lean back so I can catch my breath, but I don’t go far. I keep my forehead pressed to his.

“Wow.” He laughs softly. “I needed this.”

“Me too.” I pull away a little so I can look into his warm brown eyes. “Things will get better.”

He frowns again. “I don’t think I share the same optimism as you do, my love.”

I frame his face with my hands. “I have enough optimism for the both of us. I didn’t think I’d ever regain my powers, or that you’d fall in love with me when you were destined to kill me.

You didn’t believe you could break your curse, but you did.

Good things have happened to us, Luc, and I know in my heart that our luck won’t change. ”

“You’re too good for me, Vivi. But I accept your shared optimism.” He smiles. “Now let’s try to get some sleep. I have a feeling we’ll need our full strength later.”
