14. Forever For Her (Is Over For Me) #5

I laugh, stuffing it right back in before he can get a chance to feel relief.

“Doctor, you’d be surprised what you can get away with when the world is already so rotten.

” I gasp, faking surprise, looking down at him again.

“Oh, wait. You already know!” I squeal, turning the saw back to full blast and pushing the rest of the way until the top of his skull separates from the rest.

“Ho-ho,” I chuckle theatrically, lifting the little cap off like it’s a crown and I’m about to declare a new king.

It’s me, I’m the fucking king, so I lift his skull cap above my head, making a scene of it. “Dun, dun, dun, dun!” I trumpet a royal fanfare, dramatically placing the faux crown on my hair.

Demetri smirks, letting me have my moment.

I crouch in front of Valerian. “How do I look, Doc?”

“Like royalty,” Demetri declares with a wink.

Valerian isn’t crying or screaming now that his pain is gone. Now, he’s in full rage mode, fighting his restraints like he’s got a chance to get the top part of his head back.

It’s mine now, bitch, and I’m taking it with me!

Demetri laughs, making me realize I’ve said it out loud.

I shrug, walking over to the ECT machinery. “I have no idea how this works, so it’s probably best you figure it out.” I roll it over to him. “You’re good at this sort of stuff.”

Demetri is turning the machine on, messing with dials and lifting the electrode pads like he might actually know what he’s doing. I know he doesn’t, but in my head, there’s nothing he can’t do, and I’d like to keep it that way.

“Wait,” I tell him right before he holds the electrodes like two handheld joysticks. “I think I wanna get a little lick in.”

That amuses him. “W-what?”

“Come on!” I say, pointing to the shiny, goo-covered noggin. “You’re telling me you have zero desire to just get in there a little with your tongue? Just to get a taste and see what the mouth-feel is like?”

Demetri gestures with his hand to the doctor’s brain, as if ushering me to try. “By all means, go on.”

But he’s too wiggly.

“Be still,” I chastise.

Valerian yanks hard against the straps, it’s too much movement for me to get in there and Demetri has to hold the doctor still with his good hand.

I stick my tongue out, flattening it over one of the less sticky looking areas.

There’s not really much flavor—a little metallic from blood and whatever fluids float around in his cranium, but aside from that, it’s pretty mild.

I scrunch my nose. “I need a better taste.” This time, I swipe my tongue in a circle, smacking my lips after, as if it’ll help me define the taste. “Is this what eating pussy is like?”

Demetri chuckles. “It’s probably a bit more electric.”

“You sick fucks!” Doctor Valerian moans through the wetting paper lodged in his mouth.

“No! It’s Doctor Sick Fuck to you, sir, and his lovely wife, the missus,” I correct. “Well, blast him then,” I tell Demetri, who struggles to hold the tool in his right hand. “Gimme.” I hold my hand out.

He obliges, passing it over so we both have a shock-y tool. Demetri counts down, “Three, two,” and just before we get to one, I lower my tongue onto the doc’s brain again and zap.

It’s indescribable.

Electricity runs through me in a steady current, forcing high-pitched laughter from me that I can’t contain. I drop the tool, falling to the floor in a fit of amusement that feels like bliss.

“Again! Again!” I chant, clapping my hands.

The psychiatrist continues his protests, mumbling through the disposable sheet still stuffed in his cheeks, but we ignore him, prepping him for his next round of zaps.

This time, I keep my tongue stuck to it from the count of three, and when the shock comes, it’s a whole giggle fest out of my mouth.

“I am in LOVE with this thing,” I proclaim, reaching into the pocket of the scrubs.

There’s a lumpy object in it, making me realize this was not a fresh pair Demetri fished out for me. I look down at my breast, the name tag still full of color and lacking wear.

I pull out the tube to find it’s a red lipstick—so normal, I almost grieve her boring existence for a few seconds before unscrewing the cap. Bright red. Little lady had a wilder side to her, because never once did I see any color on those pale lips.

I pucker my own, pressing the rouge to my already bloodied skin and then smearing it together to get an even coat.

I leave a perfect pouty kiss mark on the doctor’s brain before I move to his face.

He’s drooling, not really here with us in spirit anymore.

His heart still beats, though, so I can only hope he’s suffering.

With a scoff, I kick at the chair. “You deserved worse!” I proclaim, uncoiling the lipstick from the tube and attempting to write the word UNREMARKABLE on what remains of Dr. Valerian’s forehead.

I step back to admire my work. It isn’t my best, and looks more like a drawing of an earthworm but given the circumstances and our tools, I think it’s my most victorious.

Demetri looks at the clock on the wall. “We can’t stay much longer. Morning shift will be here soon.”

I sigh. “It’s never enough time.”

“There will be others.” Demetri brings his hand to my cheek and holds it in place.
