Chapter Nine

William woke bright and early with nervous energy in his stomach. Justin hadn’t really answered the question about how they were supposed to act. They were going to be alone in a car for a long time, and he wasn’t sure how that was going to go. He got up to get dressed and pack his suitcase. As he was finishing, there was a loud knock. He opened it to see Justin.

“Are you ready to go?” he asked.

“Yeah.” William picked up his bag and shut the door behind him.

“We should get some breakfast,” Justin said when he heard William’s stomach rumble.

They put their bags in the trunk of the rental car then went into the hotel dining room. Justin filled his plate while William, whose stomach still felt a little funny, picked only a few things. Justin apparently saw him and had other ideas.

“What are you doing?” he asked. “You need to eat. We have a long drive ahead of us.” He grabbed a few more items to fill William’s tray. William knew there was no way he was going to eat all of it but found the concern touching. Justin headed for a table in the back, and he followed. “I talked to that guy from Kinetics yesterday and I think it is something we should look into. You were right.” Justin smiled at him, and William thought about how easily he could get addicted to that. They discussed the other highlights of the convention over the rest of breakfast then went out to the car to head home.

“I’d say this trip was a total success,” Justin commented as William drove.

“I would have to agree.” If this was what their relationship was going to be like, he was totally on board. But he wasn’t sure how to start a conversation. He still felt the need to walk on eggshells, afraid he’d make some kind of mistake.

“You look tense, William.” Justin was looking over at him. “What’s wrong?”

“I keep waiting to say the wrong thing and piss you off at me,” he answered truthfully.

“Just relax and be yourself,” Justin advised. “That way we can see how well our personalities mesh.”

“Okay.” William smiled.

“Physically, I’m very attracted to you. I kind of want to see what you’re like out of bed.”

“Are you saying that we should continue this when we get home?” William wondered.

“I’m just saying that we should see what happens. No pressure. No expectations.”

“I like the sound of that.” William nodded.

“Good. Now tell me what you’ve been up to since graduation. We don’t have to talk about why you came home, but I want to know what your life was like. What made you decide to change?”

“I met some great people in college, and they called me out on my bullshit. I took a long hard look at myself, and I realized that I hated the person I had become. It stopped being all about money and popularity for me, and it switched to being about hard work and integrity. I did a lot of volunteer work, but mentoring kids was my favorite. It was way more fulfilling than anything I’d ever done. I knew I couldn’t change the past, so I pushed it down and just focused on what I was currently doing.” He glanced over at Justin.

“What about after college?” Justin prompted.

“I did my internship at the Herald , and they liked my work so much that they offered me a job. At first, I was just an assistant. I didn’t mind though. I was learning a lot.”

“How did you break into writing?” Justin wondered.

“Our sports reporter went out on emergency medical leave. The editor had read a lot of the stuff I did in college, and she gave me a shot to cover for him. When he decided not to come back, she offered me the job. It was everything I had ever wanted.”

“What about friends?”

“I have a lot of acquaintances. I do know the difference now, and I’m much more selective about who I associate with. Honestly, the only person I’d consider to be a real friend is Scarlett,” William said.

“Tell me about her.”

“We met on my first day at the Herald . She’s the gossip columnist, so she always has the best stories.” William chuckled. “She’s very opinionated, but never pushes her views on anyone. And she’s an incredible listener. She is the most open-minded and accepting person I’ve ever met. And she most definitely always had my back.”

“It’s good to have friends you can count on.” William glanced over at Justin. He looked completely relaxed in the seat next to him. It was nothing like the awkward drive there. William was barely able to resist the urge to put his hand on Justin’s thigh.

“How about you?” William looked over at the other man.

“As I said before, I was doing well in college. But when Dad died, I had to come home. My mom was never one to do things on her own. Dad took care of everything from bills to discipline. My mom was lost.”

“I’m sorry, Justin. That must have been hard on you.”

“You do what you have to, I guess.” Justin shrugged. “There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for my family.”

“How did you end up working at S a motion that did not go unnoticed by William. She smiled almost seductively at Justin. Even though he knew Justin had absolutely no interest in the girl, William still didn’t like it. He fought the urge to trip her when she turned to walk away.

“You okay?” Justin got his attention. “You look kind of pissed.”

“I’m good, man.” William threw on a smile. There was no way he would admit to being jealous. “I’m probably just hangry.”

“I told you to eat more this morning.” Justin chuckled then looked around. “It shouldn’t be too long. We’re pretty much the only ones here.” William nodded. “So, and you can tell me that it’s none of my business, but I was wondering what your plans are.”

“Plans for what?”

“What are you going to do in general? I mean, are you planning on staying and working at S his hands were all over Justin as well. He heard Justin’s sharp intake of breath as he closed his hand around the man’s cock. “Do you want me to suck you again?”

“Hell yes,” Justin was answering almost before he got the words out.

William encouraged Justin to lay on his back so that he could kiss down his chest to his incredibly rigid cock. He took his time teasing him, loving the sighs and moans that fell from the man’s lips. William took him deeper, sucking harder and faster. The sudden change caused Justin to inhale sharply and let out a deep throaty cry of pleasure.

“You are phenomenal at this.” Justin’s voice sounded like he was fighting an uphill battle to keep his composure, while William was doing his best to shatter it. William hummed around his cock, taking him all the way to the base. A shiver ran through the man. “Damn, Will. You should scoot around so I can get my mouth on you, too.”

William’s cock throbbed at the mere suggestion, so he twisted into the position that Justin wanted. His loud gasp turned into a deep moan when Justin’s lips closed around him. The pleasure was indescribable. The hot, wet suction around his member combined with the heavy feeling of the thick cock against his tongue was all way too much. He wasn’t sure if there was any other moment that compared to this. It felt so damn good. Justin sucked a little harder, and a shiver ran through William’s body. It wasn’t going to take much more for him to explode. He increased his pace, needing Justin just as on the edge as he was. He felt Justin’s muscles tighten. Yes. Seconds later they both came. Justin pulled him up to lay at his side. The man stroked William’s cheek before settling him in a way so that William’s head was on his chest.

“Sleep well, baby.” Justin’s voice was a sleep mumble.

“Good night, Justin.”
