THIRTY-ONE
Slowly blinking my eyes, trying to adjust to the bright lights, I feel my heart sink to my stomach as I take in the feeling of being in a moving vehicle.
Incapable of moving my jaw, my tongue rolls over some sort of ball strapped to my face.
Scanning my whereabouts, I hoist my head up, wincing from the pain of a migraine.
An electricity sparks deep in my bones as blaring alarm bells ring in my head.
As chilling recognition spills over me, blood-curdling screams erupt from my throat.
I’m strapped into the chair.
We are headed to the next campsite, and I’m their next meal.
