Chapter 61
Myles punched the dashboard. “Fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck!” he shouted.
He was so angry, and I didn’t blame him, but I needed him to calm down.
I wanted to tell him that his sister tried talking to me, but that wasn’t going to happen tonight.
I didn’t understand why she was willing to speak to me now after she basically dogged me.
I’d rather have an enemy than a fake ass friend any day.
I placed my hand on his leg after I pulled into the driveway. “I need you to calm down. I’m sorry your mother did that, I am, but don’t let her ruin the last few hours of your birthday.”
His chest heaved in and out as he tried to calm down.
“No, you don’t understand,” he started as he slammed the back of his hand into his palm.
“Time after time, she fucks shit up. Another moment I had with my dad, and here she tries to run him off, then of all days, my muhfuckin’ birthday.
Shit, you wished you had a family, and now I wish I never had one,” he stated before he got out of the car.
I couldn’t say I understood because I didn’t, but I knew he didn’t mean what he said about his family. I knew Myles loved them, but they just weren’t what he wanted them to be.
I got out and followed behind into the house. “Myles!” I shouted.
He spun my way with a grimacing face. “If you feel that way, you can love her from a distance. I know she popped up, but you need to tell her and let it be. Love her from a distance.”
He nodded. “Thank you for the party. I did enjoy myself.”
I knew there was so much he and I needed to talk about but tonight was about him.
I had a few drinks in me and wanted to cap off the night by making it special.
I walked over, grabbed his hand, and led him into the living room.
On the table were three blunts, a bottle of his favorite liquor, and orange rose petals everywhere.
I saw his eyes light up. “Damn, you did this for me?”
I smiled proudly. “Anything for you. I have something else for you, but I need you to relax first,” I told him.
His glare became curious. “Fuck you up to?”
I picked up the lighter and lit the candles around the living room. “Oh, I’m going to be on my worst behavior tonight.”
His brows raised in excitement. “Oh yeah?”
I paused as my eyes lowered slowly to him. “Fuck yeah.”
Once I was done, I picked up one of the blunts from the table and lit it. I took a few pulls before I walked toward him and gently placed it to his lips. “It’s Foe Day,” I whispered. “You sit, relax, and I will be back,” I said as I disappeared behind the wall to go upstairs.
“Aw shit! Freaky fucking tales. Harvey, I hope you got some rest, a nigga finna dig off in yo shit,” he said excitedly.
I loved Foe and his happiness meant a lot to me. I hope that what we were about to get into wouldn’t be something I regret later. I guess I was about to fuck around and find out.
