Epilogue
EPILOGUE
MAC
I t’s our first night back on the ice, and we’re ready. The Wolves are about to have the best season ever. Coach Jake gives his typical, as he calls it, “back to school” motivational message, and we all listen intently.
The best thing about this night are the people in the stands waiting to cheer me on. My parents, Kyle, Addi, Katie, Dallin, and Vivian. She’s proudly wearing one of my jerseys, eagerly ready to witness her first hockey game live and in person.
The wedding plans are in full force as Kyle and Addi’s big day approaches, and thankfully they scheduled it when I have time to get away from the season to be fully present. I’m taking my best man duties very seriously.
I never knew spending the off season back home could change my life in such amazing ways. Now I’m back doing what I love, on the ice with my second family. And the most important people are here to support me.
Vivian and I are making the distance work—for now. However, she just informed me she has a few interviews while she’s in town .
“Wow, you have quite the cheering section out there,” Weston says patting me on the shoulder.
“Of course I do,” I tease.
“Good for you, man. Who knows, maybe it’s my turn next?” he says.
“Trust me, it’ll happen when you least expect it,” I tell him.
Suddenly the announcer begins talking, and we get ready to head onto the ice.
“Let’s go, Wolves!” I call before skating out. As soon as I spot Vivian in the stands, everything feels complete. I’m ready for this season, and I know it will be the best yet.
