Blurb

The last man I trusted burned my life to the ground, and I swore I’d never let that happen to me again.

I ran away from my ex and crossed the country with two suitcases and no plan to survive. I’m crashing on my best friend’s couch with less than three hundred dollars to my name.

I started as a billionaire’s personal assistant two weeks ago, and I can’t afford to screw it up. This morning I came in early to grab a file, before anyone else was in.

But when I walked in, I noticed his computer was still open on the desk.

A message popped up on the screen, and I shouldn’t have looked, but the word “assistant” caught my eye before I could look away.

It was a message to his brother: “My new assistant is becoming my next obsession.” I read it three times, because there’s no way a man like him is talking about me, I’m nobody.

Suddenly the door clicks shut behind me. I spin around and he’s already filling the doorway.

His eyes drop from my face to the screen, then back to me, and I watch his jaw tighten as he realizes exactly what I just read. “Did I say you could come in here?” he growls.

“Is that…” I point to the screen, “is this… about me?” I ask, then hold my breath. He crosses the room slowly until there’s nowhere left for me to step back, his eyes still locked on mine.

“What would you do, if it is about you?”
