Chapter 30
Elijah
Vaughn could sense that I have unfinished business outside of Austin.
I finally told her about Abel and what he meant to me and.
..how he died saving me. She knows that my hesitation is why he’s dead and the reason the rest of our team is either dead or disabled.
Like my family, she doesn’t see it the way I do.
They weren’t there. They didn’t see what I saw, and they haven’t lived every day since then with the guilt and the grief.
Their forgiveness doesn’t bring Abel back.
It doesn’t right the scale. Nothing can bring Abel back, and the only thing that can right the scale is more death. Their deaths, this time.
Vengeance is a living, breathing thing. It’s infected every cell of my body, and it will soon be set free. There are people who have to pay. Two men in particular, and every person who stands in my way to get to them.
Over my years in service, I’ve made many powerful connections, and we all currently have one goal in mind. I’ve made a deal. A deal that will bring my brother and team the justice they deserve. A deal that will bring me back to Vaughn to stay.
No more team. No more rules. Just me.
There’s a debt that must be paid. Their blood will be the cost.
