Chapter 31 #2
The clasp of my bra was undone, and I felt it loosen around my breasts before that too was also disposed of.
Gray dipped his head and licked my nipples that had hardened from the chill in the room.
My back arched as he sucked and nipped at the skin.
I was unable to restrain myself, grinding against him, trying to find a quick relief.
Gray’s hands clamped on my hips to stop me and I would have huffed if the moan hadn’t escaped my lips.
“You want something from me,” Gray said. “And I want something from you.”
“I’ll give you whatever you want.”
Sex with Gray had always been something I was more than happy to fall into, but since saving him, it was like breathing. We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. I needed Gray inside of me, needed us to be one because it soothed the fear that I could lose him. That I had almost lost him.
“I want the truth, Quen.”
“You’re going to kill the mood.”
Gray shifted his hips beneath me, erection brushing against my centre and making me whimper.
“I highly doubt it. So tell me the truth, because interrogation is not my idea of foreplay.”
With a sigh, I leaned forward, resting my forehead against his. My arms wrapped around his neck and my fingers played with his hair. Gray’s hands had found their way to my breasts, thumbs making lazy circles on my nipples and causing me to struggle with my focus.
“I thought I could do this,” I managed.
“You can.”
I leaned in and kissed him, tongue finding my way into his mouth.
Hot and wet. This was what I needed to blot out the thoughts that were driving me mad.
I moaned into this kiss as Gray’s thumb and finger pinched my nipple so hard that there was a spark of pain, but it was chased by pleasure that made me wetter.
One of his hands left my chest, sliding up to my throat and closing around it before pushing me back. Gray looked wild. The tendrils of his aura were spreading out around him and his eyes had been robbed of their unique colour.
“You’re not playing fair,” he said, eyes drinking me in.
“I learned from the best.”
“You can’t outdo the master, Quentin. I’ll leave you here.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“Do you want to test that theory?”
I wanted to push him. Tell him he needed this just as much as I did, possibly more, but I knew Gray well enough to know that he had an immense amount of restraint. At least when it came to teaching me a lesson.
“No,” I said. The sound of my skirt tearing sounded through the room. His aura was carefully undressing me while he continued to hold me at bay. He knew what he was doing. He knew I wouldn’t test him.
“Good girl.”
My underwear was gone, and I was left naked and wanting on his lap, but unable to achieve my goal.
Gray’s hand slipped from my breast, down my stomach, and between my thighs. His touch lit me up, and I tried to grind against his hand, but he pulled it away, bringing it to his mouth and sucking his fingers with a satisfied smirk.
“I hate you,” I muttered.
“I know you do.” He was completely unaffected. “But you know what you need to do to love me again.”
I swallowed my pride, too wanton to care anymore. “I’ll need your help. I’ll need to rely on you. I won’t be able to do it alone to start with.”
Gray raised an eyebrow. “That is what has been making you anxious?”
“Yes,” I admitted. “I’ve never had to rely on my partner to help me with work. There’s nothing I haven’t been able to do, but I know that this will be too difficult on my own.”
“And you think I’ll take over?”
“Not anymore.”
“So… this is purely out of pride.”
My cheeks felt warm, and I avoided his probing gaze. Gray chuckled to himself quietly. He let go of my throat and undid his trousers, shifting so that he could set his erection free. I waited, looking at him, before Gray pulled me forward and kissed me with force.
My fingers were in his hair, pulling at it while I positioned myself, enjoying even the feel of him brushing against me.
Gray helped to line himself against my entrance before I sank down slowly, taking him in inch by inch.
The feeling was so all-consuming that I broke away from the kiss to groan.
Gray’s mouth found the juncture between my neck and collarbone, and he sucked at the sensitive skin.
His hands cupped my ass, squeezing the flesh.
Once I was fully seated on his cock, I stopped, savouring how he filled me before leaning forward and using him to help me lift off again.
“Quentin,” he groaned. “Haven’t I always looked after you when you have needed me?”
This was not a conversation to have during sex. I could barely think straight, but I forced my brain to stay on track.
“This is more than just sex, Gray,” I panted.
“I’m not just on about sex. Everything. I’ve been there when I could.”
His hips rose to try and pick up the pace, and I was powerless to stop him. I needed him deeply and desperately.
“Yes. Yes. Yes.” The answer was to both the pleasure and his question.
My nails were sinking into his shoulders as I arched my back and continued to ride him.
“This is no different. I will be in the background. I will advise when you ask, and I will not overstep the boundaries you set.
“I told you, my only concern from now on is you. Your happiness. Your reign. Your pleasure.”
“Gray,” I moaned, unable to say much more.
“You are my soulbound. I am yours. There is nothing that should be embarrassing for you to come to me with. Do you understand?”
I nodded slowly.
This relationship was so different from the last two.
Gray had not flown off the handle when Larkin nominated me.
He’d been quick to support it. Support me.
And that was all he’d been doing since. The truth was more close to the fact that I was worried about how I would do, and I was using Gray as an excuse.
He probably knew that as well, but we both were aware that those doubts would only be quelled once I took on the role.
“Your existence is everything to me,” Gray told me, as I picked up the pace, desperate for the high. “You will do brilliant things, like you were always destined to do.”
“Don’t leave me.” The words tumbled out of my mouth without filtering. “Please.”
“Death could not take me from you. There is nothing that will be able to tear us apart.”
No work schedules. No petty arguments. No wars. Gray was the start and end of everything. I needed him more than I cared to admit, and maybe it wasn’t a weakness to acknowledge it.
My muscles tightened as the waves of bliss became more frequent and then drowned me. I buried my face in his shoulder, screaming his name. Gray joined me over the edge. The warmth of his cum filled me and I felt the way it dripped between us when it no longer had any place to go.
Gray gently kissed along the side of my face until he coaxed me to look at him.
“Better?” he asked with a smirk.
“Yes.”
“So, what do you say to someone who has helped you?”
I took in a deep breath, before begrudgingly telling him, “Thank you.”
“We really should work on your bedside manner.”
I snorted, but gave him a chaste kiss. We were still locked together in a sticky mess, but neither of us made any attempt to move.
“I understand,” Gray said, wiping some hair out of my face, “that you still have a lot to process. But I will be there whenever you need me. Use me. Trust me.”
“I will,” I told him, feeling more comfortable with the concept.
Gratitude filled my chest that Gray could look at my entire situation and understand that there were so many things at play.
Ruling Elysia. Leaving my home. Wondering who to put on the council.
Figuring out what to tell my loved ones.
The list of things to do felt never-ending, and I wasn’t even sure I would be good at the job.
My confidence in the lab came with evidence.
“We’ll look at this like an experiment,” Gray said simply. “Would that make it easier for you?”
I hugged him tight, overwhelmed by just how much I loved him. He wasn’t impatient, but he wanted me to talk because my discomfort was his discomfort. And here he was, finding a way to speak to me that would keep me calm. That would allow my brain to accept what was going on.
“Little tip, golden girl,” Gray mumbled into my hair. “I can’t fuck the anxiety out of you in the chambers, so we might have to find another way out in public.”
Asshole.
