Chapter 15
FIFTEEN
LIAM
“I’d invite you in for a drink…” she whispers from the passenger seat next to me.
I wait for it, but it never comes. My lips twitch into a smirk as I shift my gaze to meet hers. We’re sitting in the visitor parking of her apartment building.
“You’re the one in control here, Ruby,” I murmur.
Her eyes widen before she licks her lips. She shifts closer to me, her body pressing against the center console of my pickup truck. I’m not sure why the fuck I bought bucket seats when I could have had a bench seat and hauled her ass next to me.
“I don’t feel in control,” she breathes.
My lips twitch into a smirk. I like the sound of that, of her losing control. It’s hot. I’m not sure I’m really in that much control myself. I’ve never felt this way about a woman before. Just being close to her makes me feel like I’m not in control either.
“Invite me in for a drink,” I murmur.
“I don’t drink.” Her voice is barely above a whisper, her eyes searching mine.
Her declaration makes me chuckle. “You don’t?” I ask.
Ruby shakes her head from side to side, and I shift my face a little closer to hers, touching my lips to her own. I love the way her mouth feels against mine. I want to know what that mouth feels like against my entire body.
“That’s funny,” she says, her lips curved up into a smile, and still pressed against my own. “I don’t either.”
Ruby pulls away from me. I watch as she swings the door open, then unfolds from the front seat. She closes the door, taking a few steps away from the car, but doesn’t move any farther away from the house.
Instead, she looks over her shoulder back at me, arching a brow. It’s an invitation that I don’t need, but am happy to accept. Pushing the car door open, I unfold from the front seat, stand up tall, and then slam the door closed and rush toward her.
Ruby laughs as she hurries away from me and heads straight for her apartment door. Before she can slip her key into the lock, I spin her around, sliding my hand up the center of her back, tangling my fingers in her hair, and I tug her head back, watching her neck arch.
Fucking beautiful.
Lowering my head, I shift myself closer to her, touching my mouth against hers again. I can’t help myself. I need to feel her against me, any part of her, every part of her, but mostly her lips.
I want to feel her lips against every part of me.
She lifts her hands, curling her fingers around my biceps, and holds onto me there. I slip my tongue inside her warm and waiting mouth, swirling, tasting her, biting back the moan that is building in my chest.
Lifting my head, I look into her eyes. “I’m being crazy, taking a risk I shouldn’t, and you’re way out of my league, but take me to bed, Liam. Please.”
“Ruby,” I murmur.
She looks at me, her eyes wide as she searches mine, waiting for me to say something else. I can feel her question. Maybe she thinks I’m going to deny the invitation, or maybe she thinks I’m contemplating her statement and that I’ll agree with her and walk away, but I know that it’s the opposite.
If anything, Ruby is the one who is far out of my league, so I tell her that.
“I’m not out of your league, not in the fucking slightest, but I will take you to bed, and happily.”
Her eyes widen, and she opens her mouth to argue, but I shake my head once, leaning forward, and I touch my mouth to hers.
“No arguing,” I murmur against her lips. “We have drinks to avoid and a bed to climb into.”
“Okay,” she exhales.
Shifting my head backward, I dip my chin, my eyes focused on hers. “Okay?” I ask.
I watch as she licks her lips, then swallows loudly, her gaze never leaving mine. This woman is going to be my undoing. I can feel it deep in my dick. My heart races, and I know that this is it. This is the woman who is going to change everything.
Cupcake Girl.
And I couldn’t be more excited for it all to begin.
