43. Adrian #2

She disappears into the back to hang up her apron and grab her purse. We walk to my car, and I open the passenger door for her. She hesitates. Just for a second. Then slides in. I close the door. Walk around. Get in. Start the engine.

"Where are we going?" she asks.

"You'll see."

She doesn't push. Just settles back into the seat, and watches the ocean pass by the window. And I drive. Focused. Controlled. Trying not to think about how badly I want this to go right.

The spa sits on a private bluff overlooking the ocean, set back from the main road by a winding drive lined with coastal cypress and flowering lavender.

The building itself is modern but soft—clean lines of pale stone and natural wood that blend seamlessly into the landscape.

Floor-to-ceiling windows reflect the sky and sea, making the structure feel like it's part of the horizon rather than imposed upon it.

As we pull up the circular drive, a tiered fountain comes into view at the entrance—smooth river stones stacked in perfect balance, water cascading gently over each level.

The sound is immediate. Calming. Deliberate.

The kind of detail that tells you someone thought about every sensory experience before you even stepped inside.

The landscaping is lush but controlled. Native grasses sway in the ocean breeze.

White and purple wildflowers spill over stone borders.

Olive trees provide dappled shade along the walkways.

Everything is curated to feel natural, effortless, peaceful—but I know better.

This level of serenity doesn't happen by accident.

From here, you can see the ocean stretching endlessly beyond the spa's terraced gardens. The entire property feels like a sanctuary—completely private, completely safe. No one can reach you here unless you want them to.

This is exactly what I wanted. A place where nothing can touch her. Where she can let go of every defense she's built and just exist. Where my control isn't about domination—it's about removing every possible source of stress so she never has to think about anything except being cared for.

Kaia's eyes widen as we pull up. Her breath catches slightly, and I watch her take it all in—the architecture, the water, the gardens, the sheer scale of what I've arranged. She turns to look at me, and I can see the question forming before she speaks.

"Adrian…"

"I've already taken care of everything."

She looks at me. Uncertain. "You didn’t have to do this."

"I know," I say. "I wanted to."

She studies my face for a moment. Then nods slowly. "Okay."

Inside, the receptionist greets us. Warm. Professional. "Mr. Hale," she says. "Everything's ready."

"Thank you." She gestures for us to follow, leading us deeper into the spa's interior.

The moment we step past the reception area, the world changes.

The floors are smooth heated stone beneath our feet, warm even through shoes.

The walls are a soft cream with natural wood accents, and the lighting is impossibly gentle—no harsh overhead fixtures, just recessed amber glows and the flicker of real candles in wall sconces.

The air smells like eucalyptus and lavender, subtle but present, wrapping around us like a blanket.

Everything is muffled here. Footsteps barely register. Voices fade into whispers. Even the sound of water—trickling somewhere nearby, maybe a fountain or a small indoor stream—is soft, rhythmic, hypnotic.

We pass treatment rooms with doors slightly ajar, revealing glimpses of plush massage tables draped in white linens, bowls of rose petals, and more candles. Everything is designed to slow you down. To make you forget the outside world exists.

The receptionist stops at a door near the end of the corridor and opens it with a practiced, graceful motion. "Your private suite. Mr. Hale, your massage will take place right through that door," she says warmly, stepping aside to let us enter first.

The room is larger than I expected—a true sanctuary within the sanctuary. Two massage tables sit side by side, draped in soft cream linens with rolled towels at the head. Candles line every available surface, their flames dancing softly. The lighting is low, golden, impossibly calming.

Floor-to-ceiling windows overlook the terraced gardens and the ocean beyond, but the glass is tinted just enough to ensure complete privacy. No one can see in. Only out.

The receptionist moves to a built-in cabinet along the wall and opens it, revealing two plush white robes hanging inside.

She gestures to them with a gentle smile.

"You can undress to your comfort level for the massage.

" She steps toward the door, then pauses, her expression warm and genuine.

"Your therapists will be with you shortly.

Take all the time you need to settle in. There's no rush."

Kaia nods, then glances at me.

"I booked a couples massage, but I'm going to be in the room right through there."

She looks at me, and I can't quite read her expression.

"Will you stay for a second?"

I smile. "I'll look at this wall and let you undress. Let me know when you're lying down under the covers."

I turn toward the far wall, giving her complete privacy, but my attention is entirely on her. I hear the soft rustle of fabric as she unzips her jeans—the whisper of material sliding down her skin. The jeans fall to the floor with a gentle thud.

Her footsteps are careful on the warm stone floor—deliberate, measured, the sound of someone moving through a sacred space.

Each step is soft, almost reverent. Then I hear the gentle shift of linens as she settles onto the massage table, the cream-colored sheets adjusting beneath her weight.

There's a soft breath—not quite a sigh, but close—as she arranges herself, finding comfort in the nest of warmth and safety I've created for her.

I don't turn around. Not yet. But I listen to every sound, every movement. This is her vulnerability—her trust in me. And I hold it carefully, completely focused on her even as I stare at the wall.

"Baby, are you under the sheets?"

She whispers, "Yeah."

"I'm going to turn around." I move over to her and lean down to see her face.

Her jaw is tight. Her eyes hold that familiar uncertainty—the one that appears whenever someone tries to care for her without conditions or expectations.

Her fingers grip the edge of the sheet, knuckles slightly white.

And her scent...it shifts just barely, a thread of anxiety weaving through the warmth.

She's nervous. Not about me, but about receiving this.

About being vulnerable in a way that doesn't require her to earn it.

"Hey, if you don't want to do this, we don't have to.

There's a salt room, hot tub, sauna. Or if you're not feeling this at all, we can go home. "

She looks up at me, and I see the tears in her eyes.

"Woah, hey...What's going on?"

She swallows. "Please don't leave..."

"Oh, baby, hey. I was just trying to make you comfortable." I lean closer, my hand reaching out but stopping short. "Fuck, I wish I could hug you. But you're naked under those sheets, and I'm not going to compromise that."

She sits up, clutching the sheet around herself, and I pull her into my arms.

"My Omega hormones are messing me up."

I chuckle and kiss the top of her head.

"I know what they're doing to you," I say quietly, my hand settling on her back. "Your body's responding to the proximity of scent matches. That's overwhelming. That's a lot."

I've watched Finn navigate this—the intensity of sensation, the way an Omega's body can betray their emotional readiness.

But Kaia is different. She's been taught her entire life that her desires don't matter, that her body is something to control, not to feel.

And now, wrapped in safety for the first time, her Omega is waking up.

Demanding. Needy in ways she's never allowed herself to be.

"Your body knows you're safe now," I continue, my voice steady. "It's responding to that. To me. And that's okay. But I need you to know—you have complete control here. If this is too much, if you need me to step back, I will. No questions. No hesitation."

I pull back just enough to see her face, to let her see that I mean it.

"Are you sure you want me to stay?"

She nods. "Please don't leave."

"I'm right here."

There's a knock on the door.

"Hold on. We need a couple more minutes."

"Yes, sir."

I lean back down, "Honey, is this too much?"

She shakes her head. "I think my Omega felt like I was being left."

"No, honey. Never. I'm sorry. I should have asked you what you wanted first. Let me tell them we both want the massages in here."

I'm an asshole. A fucking asshole.

I let the massage therapist know, then move my table closer to hers so I can hold her hand if she needs me. I undress quickly and climb onto the table.

"Kaia."

"Adrian?"

"I'm right here. I'll never leave you."

Soft instrumental music drifts through the room—something with strings and gentle piano, designed to slow the mind and settle the nervous system. The therapists work in synchronized silence, their movements practiced and intuitive.

Time becomes fluid. Minutes blur into one another. The music continues its gentle rhythm. The scent of the oils—that perfect blend of floral and herbal—fills the space, wrapping around us like a cocoon.

By the time the massage ends, the sun is lower now, casting longer shadows across the floor.

Kaia looks completely transformed—her skin flushed and warm, her eyes soft and unfocused, her entire body loose and boneless.

She's been cared for in the most fundamental way, and it shows in every line of her.

An hour has passed. Maybe more. Time doesn't matter here.

I sit up and look over at her.

"Put your robe on, baby. I think you'll like what's next."

She sits up, face flushed, eyes soft. She looks completely relaxed. So beautiful.

I turn to put my robe on, then go over and hug her.
