54. Kaia

Chapter Fifty-Four

Kaia

Then it comes back. My parents. The beach. The ocean. The salt water washing over me while my pack held me together. How long ago was that? Four hours? Six? Not long enough. Not nearly long enough to process everything that happened.

I should still be exhausted. I should be sleeping for days after that kind of emotional devastation. But instead, I'm awake. And something is wrong. Or not wrong, exactly, but…different.

I'm too warm. The sheets feel heavier against my body, every brush of fabric amplified.

My nerves are alive in ways they shouldn't be at 3 AM after the night I just had.

Aware. Overly sensitive, as though my body decided that surviving my parents' attempt to reclaim me wasn't enough—now it has other plans entirely.

I shift slightly and feel it. The slickness between my thighs. The warmth pooling low in my belly. The ache.

Oh.

Oh no.

My breath catches. My heart begins to race, not from excitement, but from recognition and fear.

I'm in heat.

It's happening now. Right now. In the middle of the night, hours after the worst confrontation of my life, with barely any time to recover.

My body doesn't care that I'm emotionally raw.

It doesn't care that I just watched my father try to take me back.

It's doing this anyway, pulling me under into something I can't control.

After growing up with all of my father's horrible teachings, I can't shake the belief that this makes me weak, vulnerable, and a target.

I can't control this. I can't hide it. Not here. Not with four men who can scent me from across the house. Panic rises in my chest, sharp and immediate.

The door creaks open. Soft. Careful. Finn. He's in the doorway, his expression shifting the moment he sees me. His eyes widen slightly. His nostrils flare. And I know—he can smell it.

"Kaia," he says softly.

I shake my head. "I'm sorry. I didn't…I didn't mean to…"

"Hey." He crosses the room quickly. Kneels beside the bed. "Hey, no. Don't apologize."

"But I…"

"You're going into heat," he says gently. "That's okay. That's good."

"Good?" My voice cracks.

He nods. "It means your body feels safe. It means you're not running anymore."

I stare at him. Safe. My body feels safe. The warmth intensifies. The ache deepens. I whimper without meaning to. Finn's hand comes up to cup my face. "We're right here," he says. "All of us. We're going to take care of you. I promise."

"I'm scared," I whisper.

"I know," he says. "But you don't have to be. Not here. Not with us."

Footsteps sound in the hallway and Jonas appears, lingering in the doorway, then Lachlan, then Adrian. All four of them, looking at me, not with hunger or demand, but with care.

"Hey, sweet girl," Lachlan says softly. "How are you feeling?"

I shake my head. "I don't…I don't know."

Adrian steps closer, his expression calm and controlled. "Your body is going into heat," he says. "That's normal. That's healthy. And we're going to help you through it."

"I've never…" My voice breaks. "I've never done this before."

Jonas moves to the other side of the bed and sits carefully. "That's okay. We'll show you what a safe heat looks like," he says quietly.

The warmth is spreading. My skin feels too tight. My body feels needy. Desperate. I whimper again, louder this time. I can’t help it.

Finn stands. "Come on. Let's get you to my nest."

"Your nest?"

He nods. "It's the safest place. The softest. And it already smells like us."

I hesitate. "Is that…is that okay?"

Finn laughs softly. "Kaia. Yes. Of course it's okay. It's yours if you want it. Ours."

I nod. He helps me stand. My legs are shaky. The slickness between my thighs is impossible to ignore. Finn keeps his arm around my waist, steady and grounding, as we walk down the hall to his room. To his—no, our nest.

Soft blankets. Pillows piled high. Warm light filtering through the window.

It smells like them: ocean, driftwood, clean linen, rain, coconut, and citrus.

I step closer, and something inside me shifts.

I suddenly have the uncontrollable, instinctual need to nest. To arrange.

To make the space perfect. I drop to my knees and start pulling blankets, adjusting pillows, creating a circle. A safe space. Mine.

Finn and Jonas watch from the doorway, not interfering, just present. "You need anything?" Jonas asks softly.

I shake my head, then pause. "Water," I whisper. "And maybe some snacks?"

Jonas nods. "I'll get it." He disappears down the hall. I keep arranging, fluffing, adjusting until it feels right. Then I sit back, and the ache hits me again, stronger this time. I whimper and curl into myself.

"Kaia?" Finn's voice is gentle. "What do you need?"

"I don't…" I shake my head. "I don't know." But I do. I do know. "Your scent," I whisper. "I need…I need your scent."

Finn doesn't hesitate. He pulls his shirt over his head and hands it to me. I bury my face in it and breathe in. Coconut. Citrus. Warm sand. It helps a little. But it's not enough. Jonas comes back with water and a plate of fruit, setting it carefully beside my newly constructed nest.

I look up at him. "Your shirt," I whisper. He smiles softly, pulls it off, and hands it to me. I press it to my face. Coastal fog. Rain on sand. Better, but still not enough. I whine, a keening sound I can't control. High-pitched and desperate.

"What's wrong, sweet girl?" Lachlan's in the doorway now, his expression soft and concerned.

Jonas turns to him. "She needs your shirt. And Adrian's."

Lachlan doesn't hesitate. He pulls his shirt off, crosses the room, and hands it to me. I take it and press it to my chest. Deep ocean. Driftwood. Salt. The Alpha scent settles something in me, but I whine again, louder.

"Adrian," Lachlan says quietly. "She needs you."

Footsteps, then Adrian appears with his shirt already in his hand. He kneels beside the nest and holds it out to me. I take it and bury my face in it. Sea breeze. Clean linen. Sharp citrus.

I inhale. Both Alphas. One Beta. An Omega. All of the scents surrounding me. I finally exhale, shaky but better.

Lachlan shifts closer. "Can I come into your nest?" he asks softly.

I nod without thinking. He climbs in carefully and settles beside me, pulling me against his chest. His warmth is everything. I whine again, softer this time, but still needy. Lachlan's hand comes up to cup my face, tilting my head up. Then he kisses me. Slow. Grounding. Steady.

The racing in my mind stops. I melt into him, into the kiss, into the safety. When he pulls back, his eyes are warm. "Let me take care of you, sweet girl," he murmurs. "Invite the other two into your nest if you want. Adrian's just taking care of one more thing."

I look at Finn, then Jonas. Both watching.

Both waiting. "Please," I whisper. They don't hesitate.

Finn climbs in first, then Jonas. All three of them around me.

In my nest. My space. My choice. Adrian's here now, watching and waiting.

I reach for him. "You too," I whisper. His expression softens just slightly.

He climbs in and settles on my other side.

All four of them surround me. Their scents mix and blend, creating something perfect.

The ache is still there, the need, but it's not scary anymore. Because they're here.

Lachlan's hand slides down my side, slow and careful. "Tell me if you need me to stop," he murmurs.

I shake my head. "Don't stop." His hand settles on my hip, thumb brushing across my skin.

Finn's hand comes up to brush my hair back.

His lips press to my shoulder, soft and warm.

Jonas shifts closer, his hand resting on my thigh, grounding me.

Adrian's hand cups my face and turns me toward him. He kisses me, slow and deliberate.

I'm surrounded. Held. Safe. Lachlan's hand slides lower, between my thighs. I gasp.

"Still okay?" he asks.

"Yes," I breathe. His fingers move, gentle and careful, reading my body. Finn's lips move to my neck, kissing and nipping softly. Jonas's hand slides up my thigh with steady pressure. Adrian's thumb brushes across my cheek, his eyes never leaving mine.

"You're safe," he murmurs. "We've got you."

Lachlan's fingers press deeper, and I break, not from fear, but from relief. The pleasure builds, slow and steady and controlled. Finn's hand slides under my shirt to cup my breast, his thumb brushing across my nipple. I arch into the touch, whimpering.

Jonas's lips find my shoulder, kissing and grounding. Adrian's hand slides into my hair, holding me steady. And Lachlan's fingers move with perfect precision, like he knows my body better than I do. The pressure builds higher and higher.

"That's it," Lachlan murmurs. "Let go, sweet girl."

And I do. The orgasm crashes over me, sharp, intense, perfect. I cry out without meaning to, shaking. They hold me through it, all of them. Their hands steady. Their scents surrounding me. Their presence grounding me.

When I finally still, I'm gasping and trembling.

"You okay?" Lachlan asks softly.

I nod. "Yeah. I'm okay."

Finn presses a kiss to my temple. "You're perfect," he murmurs.

Jonas's hand squeezes my thigh gently. "We've got you."

Adrian's thumb brushes across my cheek. "Always.

" I close my eyes and breathe. This is what heat should be.

Not fear. Not shame. Not danger. This. Safety.

Love. Care. They shift around me, adjusting to make sure I'm comfortable.

Jonas reaches for the water and holds it to my lips. I drink, grateful.

Finn grabs a strawberry from the plate and holds it out.

I take a bite. Sweet. Perfect. Then, Lachlan's purr starts, low, steady, and anchoring.

Adrian's hand stays in my hair, gentle and present.

I'm surrounded by their warmth, their scents, their love.

And for the first time in my life, being an Omega doesn't feel like a curse. It feels like home.

"Thank you," I whisper.

"For what?" Finn asks.

"For this. For making it safe."

Lachlan's arms tighten around me. "Always," he murmurs.

Jonas presses a kiss to my shoulder. "You're ours, Kaia. We take care of what's ours."

Adrian's hand cups my face and turns me toward him. "You're not alone anymore," he says quietly. "You never will be again."

I nod, tears pricking my eyes, not from sadness, but from relief. I'm not alone. I'm not scared. I'm not running. I'm here, in their nest, in their arms, where I belong.

Somewhere behind me, I hear the soft creak of a window opening.

A breeze drifts in—cool, salt-laden, carrying the ocean with it.

The scent of the sea mingles with theirs, weaving through the nest like a living thing.

I breathe it in and feel the ocean that brought me here, that called to me from that highway overlook, now woven into the very air around us.

Lachlan's deep ocean and driftwood mingle with salt. Jonas's coastal fog and rain settle like mist. Finn's coconut and citrus brighten the air. Adrian's sea breeze and clean linen weave through it all. They're all here—my pack, my home—and the ocean that saved me is part of them now. Part of us.

The heat will last a few days. I know that. But I'm not afraid, because they're here, and they're not going anywhere. Neither am I. I close my eyes and let their scents wash over me—let the ocean wash over me—let their warmth surround me, let their love hold me.

It's only now, while I'm in heat, surrounded by four people I love—four people that see me, who make me feel safe, who love me—that I let myself believe it. That I'm safe. I'm loved. I'm home. And nothing is ever going to take that away from me.
