Chapter 10

Chapter Ten

Harlow

“Harlow, you have two minutes before I put a bullet in his head!” he screams out. My hands shake, but I remain where I am as Leon’s voice flits through my head.

'Stay where you are. Don’t fucking move, Harlow,' he snaps at me.

One of them kicks Leon, and he doubles over, coughing with one hand on the ground as he wheezes. Another man drags the gardener from behind the side of the house. He begs and pleads as he is dumped next to Leon.

“Now Harlow, or I’ll kill —” he looks down at the gardener. “Whoever this is,” he says waving the gun at him. He is still staring at the mansion, not realizing I’m not inside.

'I’m five minutes out. The road is blocked!' come’s Thane’s furious voice.

Pain suddenly tears through me from Rhen, and I drop to my knees. Leon screams, clutching his chest, and I gasp for air as I feel Rhen’s tether break. I feel the agony from all of my mates, only to look up and see men racing toward me.

I must have screamed out in pain without realizing, and I choke back fear. Leon gets to his feet, only to be hit in the head with the butt of the gun. I scramble to my feet, fighting the agony of Rhen’s tether breaking. It burns, tearing my heart out.

I look for another exit, cursing that I didn’t run for the trees when I had the chance.

I clutch my stomach and glance around. I see another door at the back of the shed and race toward it.

I hear them reach the main door as I squeeze through a gap in all the equipment.

My fingers wrap around the door handle, only for someone to grip my hair and rip me back.

“There you are, love,” a deep, rumbling voice says next to my ear.

I thrash, kicking and fighting to get loose.

The other man grabs my legs, hauling me out of the huge shed.

The moment I am brought out, Leon gets to his feet and charges at the men holding me, only to be shot twice in the back, giving the gardener a chance to attack Corbin.

Leon staggers, dropping to his knees. A second later, another gunshot rings out and the gardener drops to the ground. Leon wheezes. One hand clutches his hip where the bullet went straight through. His shoulder is also bleeding, but he is alive, for now.

Corbin lifts his gun and shoots again. Leon twists, but the bullet still hits him.

He slumps to the ground, and I scream, feeling pain tear through my ribs from the same spot he was hit.

I thrash harder when I see Alpha Corbin walk to us.

All I can think is 'why aren’t the officials doing anything? ' They just stand and watch.

I am placed on the ground at Corbin’s feet. The man who killed Hana walks up behind him and smirks, looking down at me.

“Exactly like her mother,” Corbin says, tilting my face from side to side with his gun.

Tears stream down my face as I try to figure out why he is doing this. It makes no sense to me. I see Leon trying to get up, but a man puts his foot on his back and shoves him back down.

“Stay down. Enough people have died today,” the man says.

Leon looks at me and I plead with my eyes for him to listen to the man. He clenches his jaw.

“We’ll have to take care of that,” Corbin growls, nudging my stomach with his foot. I use my arms to cover my bump and growl at him, only for him to laugh.

“Feisty like her mother, too,” he snarls, making my brows pinch together as I stare at him. He returns my look with a sadistic smile. “Leo, chuck her in the car!” he says to the man who murdered Hana. He reaches for me, but I scramble back on my hands and feet. He stalks after me.

“Are the roads still blocked off?” Corbin asks one of the officials. They both nod.

“Yes, but we can’t keep it blocked for long,” one man says as this Leo person grabs my arm. I lash out, kicking him. I extend my claws and slash them down his face.

He growls, and Leon screams when he stomps on me. I move quickly enough, and instead of him stomping on my stomach, he stomps on my shoulder.

“Try that again, and I will cut your pup from you right now,” he snarls, wiping his face with the back of his arm. I whimper as he presses his foot down harder on my shoulder. I turn my face to see Leon get knocked out. He falls limp on the ground.

Leo grabs me and starts dragging me to the car by my hair. The gravel rips at my back, ass, and legs. I kick my feet, trying to get enough traction to stand.

“Now we just gotta find the other one,” I hear Corbin say as I am tossed into the back of the car.

“Bree said she is with Alpha Jake,” one of them says.

Bree? I blink, wondering what she has to do with this.

The car door slams as Leo climbs in next to me.

I hear the sound of an engine screaming up the road, and Leo leans forward, peering out the windshield.

Alpha Corbin jumps into the passenger side and looks at the official in the driver's seat. The other men run for their cars.

“I thought you said the roads were blocked!” Corbin snarls at the man.

“They are,” the man stammers.

Corbin spins in his seat and kicks the man, shoving him out his open door before climbing into the driver’s seat.

“Corbin?” Leo growls beside me.

“We can outrun him,” Corbin says, starting the car. The engine roars to life, and I see Thane’s car skidding onto the long driveway. Corbin guns it, throwing me back in my seat, only to be cut off by one of the other cars, forcing him to slam on the brakes.

I giggle. Leo glares at me as he grips the back of the driver's seat. “You’re so fucked,” I tell them, reaching for the door handle.

Leo growls, grabbing at me, but I jump from the vehicle.

Leo snarls as I land on my hands and knees.

Corbin hits the gas, and Leo is tossed from the car when he tries to grab the back of my shirt.

Corbin doesn’t wait. He guns the engine, choosing to leave his mate behind, or not realizing Leo is gone, as he plows toward Thane’s car.

Leo grabs me. I throw my head back as he tries to wrangle me.

My head hits his face and he grunts, dropping me just as I hear the two cars collide.

My eyes move to the scene to find Corbin’s car spinning out of control, before he floors it and skids sideways out the gate.

The other two cars slam on their brakes to avoid smashing into Thane’s car.

One zips off around him, escaping with Corbin.

Thane tosses his car door open and glares at the third car.

A furious growl echoes around us. Leo freezes, staring in Thane's direction. The trapped car starts reversing. Thane stalks toward it, and if looks could kill, they would be dying the most agonizing death right now.

Within seconds, he shifts, and his huge mammoth of a wolf dives straight through the front windshield of the car. The men’s screams are loud as the car rocks from side to side and starts rolling forward. Leo gasps before grabbing my arm and hauling me to my feet.

I kick my legs, screaming for Leon and Thane as he starts dragging me toward the tree line.

I drop my weight, slipping out of his grip as I hear their car crash into Thane’s.

Leo stops, glancing over his shoulder, before he snarls and grips my hair.

Twisting, he rips my hair out painfully, and I kick him between the legs.

I hear Leon groan as he staggers to his feet. My eyes dart to him briefly, costing me precious time. Leo snags my ankle, dragging me back to him.

“Leon!” I scream as Leo pins me. His knee presses down on my groin area as he tries to grab my shoulders. Feet suddenly appear beside my head, making Leo freeze. His eyes widen, and my eyes move past his shoulder to see Thane standing next to us, naked and drenched in blood.

Leo lurches off me and scrambles backward. Thane steps over me. “You touched my Omega.”

Leo shakes his head, “Corbin, he —”

“You touched my mate,” Thane deadpans, his voice ice-cold and his steps calculating. Leo backs up, and Thane stalks him. Leo is now his prey. Leo’s face twists into a snarl. He shifts at the same time Thane does, and they start tearing into each other.
