Chapter 13

Chapter Thirteen

Harlow

I make Thane call Jake to warn him about Corbin.

It is a good distraction for him while Rhen takes me downstairs to speak with Leo.

So far, he has been uncooperative and unwilling to give up his mate.

He knows he isn’t leaving here alive. I shift uncomfortably on the couch, my enormous belly tightening.

It makes sitting quite painful with the pressure on my groin.

“Who told you about Harlow?” Raidon asks for the hundredth time. He’s a broken record at this point. Leo just laughs, and Raidon punches him, making me flinch. Leo growls, spitting blood on the floor. He smirks at me, his eyes sparkling with mischief.

“You look just like your mother,” he says, sitting back in his chair. My brows furrow. Leo tilts his head to the side. “And to think, her two daughters were right under our noses all this time,” he says, baring his teeth.

“You knew my mother?” I ask him. The cogs turns in my head with everything I know so far, and for some reason, it all links back to Harper.

“Yes, I knew her. She was the youngest of the girls promised. Like Hana,” he sneers as Thane walks in. Leo clicks his tongue at him.

“Your mother was a fucking hoot. Good in the sack, too. I wonder what your Omega feels like,” he taunts, trying to bait Thane. Yet, Thane doesn’t pay him any mind, instead, focusing on me.

“You called them?” I ask, and he nods his head.

“That won’t help her. Corbin has plans. He won’t let this go, not after all this time,” Leo states.

My heart skips a beat at his words. Thane tugs me to him and waves his hand at Raidon, who knees Leo in the head. Thane's calm demeanor is just a facade. I can feel his rage boiling. He wants to kill Leo but is calm enough to see reason now.

Leo grunts at the blow, and Leon walks in with a blood bag, slurping on it like a juice box. “Fucking vermin, like your cousin. All hybrids should have been put down years ago. Fucking bloodsucker,” Leo growls, his eyes flickering.

“You would know. Weren’t you a feeder for years? Wait, no, that was your sister and mother. I'm pretty sure I tasted both of them, and they both tasted like shit. Must be the bad genes,” Leon responds. Leo snarls, jerking in his restraints.

“Enough, Leo. Either speak, or I'll let Thane kill you now. I am done playing these little games with you," Rhen tells him. Leon takes a seat beside me, and I move over, only to get up. My stomach is cramping from sitting, and the pressure in my groin is intense.

“You don’t look too good,” Leo comments.

Thane is watching me, and the concern on his face is evident. They have been hovering over me all damn night. I shake off his hand when he reaches for me.

“I’m fine. It's just Braxton Hicks,” I tell him.

“Harlow?” Rhen starts, but I wave him off too.

“Rhen is right, love. Your due date is only two days away. The baby could come any time now. At least let me get Mom and Dad to check you over," Raidon argues.

I shake my head, clutching my belly. Shouldn’t I be in more pain if I’m in labor? All the stories I heard make it seem like the pain should be unbearable.

“No, I’m calling them. Rhen watch him,” Raidon says, walking off.

I lean on the arm of the couch before turning my head back to Leo. “My mother, you believe she’s this Harper woman?” I ask him.

“I don’t believe she is, I know. It's why Hana bid on you and why Sophia had her son bid on your sister. Jake thought he was just obtaining an Omega, but he was really buying his mother’s goddaughter back.”

My brows raise at his words.

“My mother’s name wasn’t Harper, though. It’s Zahra,” I tell him.

Leo laughs. “The sneaky bitch used her middle name,” he says, shaking his head.

“What’s any of this got to do with my mother, though?

” Thane asks. I can see how tense he is.

His fingertips have turned into claws, and I didn’t like the conversation turning to Hana with him present.

He is barely holding it together. I’m not sure if I’m making a mistake when I move toward him.

I sit in his lap, and he sighs. His claws retract as he places his hands on my belly.

“You might as well talk, Leo. Corbin left you for dead,” Rhen states.

“Thane will kill me no matter what happens. I don’t see any point in answering shit,” Leo spits, and Rhen shakes his head.

“You had a daughter before you joined Corbin's pack,” Thane states.

“You won’t fucking touch her,” Leo snarls.

“She is Omega,” Rhen tells him. Leo’s canines slip out. “Tell me what we need to know, and I will ensure she doesn’t end up in rotation.”

“You can’t ensure that!”

“I can in my city. I have the sanctuary here,” Thane says, and Leo shakes his head.

“No, Corbin will keep her safe. He won’t let her go into rotation."

Rhen laughs, making Leo look at him. “You’re an idiot if you believe that. You’re one of his newest pack members. How old is your daughter? She would be nearly twenty now, right?” Rhen asks. Leo sits straighter in his chair, his eyes darting between Thane and Rhen.

I, however, am trying to calculate how old Leo is because he looks so young. I know Alpha Packs age slower, but he looks to be in his mid-twenties. It also makes me wonder how old Corbin is.

“Your daughter is off-limits while you’re part of his pack. I wonder if Corbin will stick to that deal once you're dead?” Thane says, looking at Rhen, who shrugs.
