Chapter 15
Chapter Fifteen
Harlow
Leo exhales and nods his head a few times, looking at the floor before sitting higher in his seat to look at Thane.
“We found out about Harlow first, right after you bought her. We didn’t know about Zara until recently.
Curtis called Corbin and said he could fix the situation with Hana, but he wanted into the pack.
Corbin agreed. Curtis told us he had Thane’s Omega, and one way to get at Hana was to blackmail her back.
We planned to take Harlow and demand the footage she had on Corbin. ”
“But that makes no sense. How would she even know I existed? How did Curtis plan that?” I ask him. Leo shrugs.
“No idea. All I know is Curtis called Corbin, told him he had Thane’s Omega, and we could use her to get back at Hana.
However, when we realized Hana was the one coming to collect you, Corbin changed the plan.
He ordered me to kill her and take you. Kill two birds with one stone.
We didn’t even realize you were Harper's daughter until we tested your DNA. Even Curtis was shocked. He didn’t realize until after we started looking for you.
Your DNA from the car was added to the registry, and it struck a close match to Harper’s, whose blood was still registered with the facility. ”
“That makes no sense, though. Elaine —” I look at Raidon.
“My mother told us Hana bid on Harlow, and Sophia convinced Jake to bid as well, to also bid on Harlow. The twins had switched places at that point,” Raidon tells him.
“I don’t have those answers. I only know what Corbin was told, so if she knew who the girls were, she didn’t learn it from us. We didn’t know until after the accident, and she was already dead.”
“Well, someone is lying then because my mother told me once Hana was well aware of who she was bidding on,” Raidon says, his brows pinching together.
“Curtis swore he didn’t know,” Leo says, looking confused.
A sharp pain makes me suddenly cry out. The terrible pain rips through my stomach.
Raidon moves toward me, but Thane grabs me first as I double over.
I try to breathe through the pain as the bending motion builds up pressure in my groin.
I suddenly feel my legs become drenched.
Thane jumps, his feet getting wet, and I know my water just broke, the floor becoming soaked along with my pajama shorts.
“I fucking knew it! Stubborn little Omega,” Raidon growls, scooping me up. I moan as pain tears through my lower back and abdomen.
“Leon, call Mom and tell her to hurry up,” Raidon calls over his shoulder as he heads for the Den. The moment I see where he is taking me, my eyes widen, and I claw at his back, trying to get out of his grip.
“No! No, I am not going down there!” I thrash. Raidon stops when Thane grabs my face in his hands.
Thane’s bottom lip quivers, and his eyes dart to the door leading to the Den before coming back to mine. I know I am being irrational, but I hate that Den. It haunts me more than anything Thane has done in the past. There’s a reason I haven’t set foot in there.
“I’ll remove the door, but you need your Den, Harlow. You won’t be able to handle all the scents in the house. It’s either the Den or the hospital, so pick,” he says.
I shake my head as another contraction cripples me.
“I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. I promise I will stay with you, but you need to pick, love,” he murmurs.
I shake my head. Omegas are primal creatures. Yes, there are Dens at the hospital, but the idea of leaving home also frightens me. Thane presses his head against mine.
“I’ll remove the door.”
“You’ll remove the door,” I repeat, and he nods.
“I’ll do it now,” he says, backing away from me. Raidon sets me on my feet. I clutch onto him, liquid still running down my legs, drenching the tiles. It makes me wonder how much water is in there. It feels gross and smells funky. Yet, as the contractions return, my gross state is far from my mind.
“Leon!” I grit out, and he is beside me in an instant. He starts walking down the steps, but my vision tunnels as I stare down the stairs that lead to the hell I lived in for months.
“I’m right here,” he says, motioning for me to follow.
Thane moves toward the door. The moment I take a step, pain tears through me, and I feel something hit my feet.
I look down to see a massive blood clot, and my vision to blurs.
I take another step, or I think I do, before everything briefly goes black.
I wake up to Thane screaming. I feel myself being placed on something hard and cold. I stare up at the ceiling, dazed, and wonder what happened. Leon is suddenly prying my mouth open before I choke on his blood. I cough and sputter, trying to sit up.
“Where the fuck is your mother?” Thane growls at Raidon as Leon pulls me back down.
“Rhen, call an ambulance!” he orders, and I begin fading. “Stay awake for me, Low,” Thane tells me, ripping my shorts off. Thane gasps, and I turn my head, dazedly searching for someone. I don’t care who, I just need someone's face to focus on.
“Is that —?” I hear Leon ask.
“The umbilical cord,” I hear Thane murmur.
I blink, my mind foggy. Isn't that supposed to come out last? I think when I hear Leo’s voice.
“I can help her. Let me out of this damn chair!” he shouts.
“You’re the reason she is fucking like this!” Leon snarls.
