Chapter 17
SEVENTEEN
A nice sit-down dinner was not how I expected to spend my evening, but Raivat and DJ surprised me. The place isn’t so fancy that I feel uncomfortable, but there are no written prices as I scour the menu, and we all know what that means.
“I don’t know how much the mignon costs,” I mutter.
Raivat smiles. “If you want it, you should get it.”
“But it doesn’t say how much it costs. Is it a sixteen-dollar steak or a seventy-dollar steak?”
A frustrated huff escapes me and DJ chuckles, resting a hand on my leg. “Don’t worry about the price. We want to spoil you, so let us.”
I bite my lip. I do like the idea of the chimichurri sauce it comes with.
Raivat’s eyes trail over me with an observant gleam. “You’re not used to letting anyone take care of you,” he comments.
My cheeks heat up slightly and I nod. “I’ve never seen a point.”
“You’re an omega,” DJ says softly. “The point is to give yourself what you need, even if it seems pointless. That’s what we are for, to take care of you. To cherish you. To give you everything you could possibly need, no matter how small it seems.”
The usually unserious alpha beside me is anything but as he says those words. He’s straight-faced, sober. There’s nothing in his demeanor that tells me he is joking or doesn’t mean what he says.
It’s true that I haven’t let anyone take care of me. Alphas that helped me with past heats, they came and left. It was easy not getting attached, especially since I wasn’t ready to fully accept a pack that wouldn’t include Elsie.
Instead of listening to my omega instincts, I’ve put them aside. I took care of Elsie. I felt good whenever I did, but I haven’t let anyone do the same for me. Maybe it’s time that I finally accept that part of myself.
I swallow, my throat suddenly dry. I reach for my water and take a sip, my brows scrunching.
“Well… then I’d like a mojito,” I declare.
“Then you’ll get one. Or three,” Raivat says, looking around the dining room for the waiter.
DJ’s hand squeezes my thigh firmly, the movement causing an electric shock up my thigh and right to my cock. When I look at him, his lips are curved and his focus is on me.
“Good boy,” he whispers, and my stomach pools with liquid fire.
I end up getting the steak, and the chimichurri sauce is just as amazing as I thought it would be. I have two mojitos and the alphas also persuade me to share the four-layer chocolate cake with them. It’s the size of my head and I enjoy every single bite.
By the end of dinner, I feel like I could burst from all the amazing food.
The waiter eventually gives us the check, which Raivat pointedly won’t let me see, and DJ tips the beta directly.
“Oh, the alpha has manners,” I joke once the waiter leaves the table.
DJ laughs. “Yes, I do. I was raised by my mom and grandmother.”
I raise a brow. “Just your mom and grandmother?”
He nods. “My mother is a corporate woman. She loved climbing up the ladder at her firm, but she was missing something. When she decided to go with sperm donation, my grandmother was so excited about having a grandchild that she offered to help raise me. It’s always been the three of us.”
I find my features softening. “They sound like strong women.”
“They are,” he agrees. “And I’ve never felt like anything was missing, that’s how wonderfully they worked together.” He takes a sip from his glass and returns his attention to me. “You were raised by a single mother, too, right?”
I nod. “Yeah. She’s amazing. I also never really felt like I needed anything else. Up until Elsie, my mother was my best friend. She worked a lot, but that’s to be expected.”
“Don’t I know it.” DJ chuckles. “I’d like to see our moms interact. That would be a cool sight.”
On our way out of the restaurant, Raivat’s hand guides me, touching the small of my back. It sends goosebumps over my skin that have nothing to do with the winter night air.
“Do you want to come over for a night cap?” he asks me, his voice a raspy husk next to my ear.
Despite the shiver it sends up my spine, I scoff. “Trying to get into my pants, Alpha?”
His lips curve up. “Of course, but I just meant to hang out a little bit longer.”
“We got a new game, thought maybe you’d want to play it with us,” DJ adds.
I quirk my brow, intrigued. “Which one?”
“Draconis Wars.”
“Oh shit, really? That shit is so expensive. Yeah, I want to play it.”
“Good.” Raivat smiles like they just won the lottery. “Let’s get going then. It might take us all night to even scratch the surface of it.”
They start for the car but stop short when they realize I’m not following.
“Are you coming, Omega?” Raivat asks.
“Hm, I’m not sure.” I place my index finger on my chin and pretend to think. “I thought a good first date usually ended with a kiss, but it seems the alphas who took me out aren’t aware of proper date etiquette.”
They both pause and DJ’s grin grows tenfold.
“Oh, so you’re the bratty one,” he surveys, and I bite my lip to keep from smirking.
I shrug. “We can’t both be sweet.”
They both walk back toward me then, their walks slow and methodical. My heart beats harder with every leisurely step.
When they finally step in front of me, I inhale sharply. Their smiles are hungry, sending an arrow right through my chest.
“It’s a good thing we don’t mind a little spice, right, Raivat?”
He nods. “A good thing indeed.”
DJ kisses me first, the movement so efficient and thoughtful that it takes the air right from my lungs.
His pumpkin scent is invigorating, creamy and sweet and burly.
When he pulls back, his lips are wet and his gaze is intentional.
His thumb brushes my bottom lip, and I feel my knees struggle to keep my body up.
He slowly turns me to Raivat, whose pupils are dilated from the display me and his pack mate just put on in the middle of this parking lot.
His unique scent comes toward me now, making me just as needy for his touch.
When it finally comes, I can’t help the omega whine that climbs up my throat from the gloriousness of it.
“Pretty omega,” he whispers, hovering above my lips. “Asking for what he wants. For what he needs.” He gets an inch closer, so close that I have to hold my breath waiting for the band between us to snap apart. “Do that, and we will give it to you. Every. Single. Time.”
I moan as he closes the distance, the sound swallowed up by his kiss.
His facial hair rubs over my skin in just the right way as the kiss becomes heated.
I can’t help but run my fingers into his locks, pulling slightly to combat the neediness I feel in my gut.
I know I was just joking before, but I want these two to try to get into my pants. I need it more than I need to breathe.
When was the last time I got laid outside of my heat? Now that I’m thinking about it, I realize it’s been a long freaking time.
Raivat pulls back, but a desperate whine coming from my throat stops him short.
“Is our omega feeling needy?” DJ asks, coming up behind me. His chest flanks my back, making me feel warm and fuzzy.
Raivat grins, pushing my hair behind my ears and letting his thumb linger over my cheek. “I think he is. Maybe games will have to wait until we take proper care of him.”
I clutch his shirt in my hands, pulling him closer. “Please.”
The plea falls out on autopilot, my body now in the driver’s seat over my normally sober inhibitions.
DJ picks me up then and carries me to the car. I’m not sure how we do it, but we squeeze in the back, immediately tugging at each other’s clothes and getting back to work.
“We have to be quick,” Raivat says. “We don’t want to be here past closing and draw attention.”
“We can make him come in five minutes,” DJ says confidently. I snort, ready to rebut, but then he kisses me, instantly stalling my protest and pulling a groan from my lips instead. He works on the button of my pants all while his tongue expertly dances with mine.
It’s intoxicating how quick he can wind me up. I could blame it on the blue balls I’ve had for months, but I know it’s not because of that. It’s because of how connected I feel to them. How heady his pumpkin eggnog scent makes me without a single touch from his hands.
When he gets my pants undone, he tugs both them and my boxers down below my ass, groaning when he gets to grip me tight.
“Fuck, I love your tight little ass,” he rasps. “I can’t wait to knot you one day. Would you let me, Omega? Hm?”
I let out a dark chuckle. “Only if you earn it, Alpha.”
His smirk is the sexiest thing I’ve ever seen. “I will. I live to earn even the smallest scraps from my omegas.”
My stomach dips with heat as he pulls me down, lying on the backseat. “Now, will you do me the honor of fucking my mouth, Omega? I want to taste your sweet cum.”
I grunt, letting him wrap his lips around me, his tongue swirling just as good as he did when we were kissing. He sucks on the head of my cock, and I bellow out in reaction.
God, I’m not going to last.
Raivat is behind me then, kissing my neck.
He travels downward, his hands gripping my back before suddenly they’re on my thighs, maneuvering my boxers to expose more of my ass.
He curses under his breath, but I’m so distracted by DJ’s mouth that I can’t hear what he says.
I think it may have been in another language.
Raivat grips me, spreading me open. I have half a mind to ask what he’s doing before he does it, his tongue gliding over me with wide licks. A keening noise escapes me, my back arching as the combination of what they’re both doing to me takes over my body.
This. This is what I needed.
“Fuck.” I find a way to move my hips so I’m both fucking DJ’s throat and pushing back onto Raivat’s tongue.
I glide them, rolling in a wave that has my belly curling with pleasure.
They’re both so good, being intentional with every single movement of their mouths, and I am the lucky omega that gets to experience it.
“Fuck, I’m going to come,” I warn them. DJ hums around me and that’s it.
I explode down his throat, my cock spurting with each continued touch over every sensitive part of me.
My sight blacks out as all I can feel is energy shooting through my cock, the pressure uncoiling in a flash of bright colors.
When the feeling subsides, all I feel is satisfied, especially when I pull out of DJ’s mouth and watch him swallow my cum with a happy smile.
My eyes glance down to his pants, squinting in the dark to see. “Do you want me to—” He shakes his head.
“No, I came in my jeans,” he confesses, panting.
I cover my mouth with my hand. Fuck.
“I think we should head out anyway. I’m glad we got a dark spot here in the back,” Raivat mutters, his gaze darting around for any onlookers. “I think we’re in the clear.”
I bite my lip. “I don’t know, I think it was kind of hot.”
DJ laughs. “I knew you were kinky, blondie. Where else do you want to have sex? I can make it happen for you.”
I shrug, a grin pulling at my lips. Exhibitionism has never been my thing before, but with my scent matches, I think it’s something I’ll start to crave.
“What are you doing, Raivat? The aliens are going to fucking attack us!” DJ thunders.
“I didn’t know that button was going to make my character whistle!”
He huffs out with frustration. “You need to get it together!”
I choke down the laugh that wants to fly free, my lips twitching at the seams. We’ve been back for about thirty minutes now, the game finally gearing up, and DJ has turned into an absolute monster. I guess I know now who the most competitive of the pack is.
Right on time, the door opens and Brodie’s scent strolls into the guys’ little cozy living room. The mix of sweet honey and bitter bourbon causes my mouth to part as he walks into the room, hulking muscles on display.
I wipe the sweat from my forehead. Wow, my omega is really horny today.
“Ah, my lovely pack,” he says, ever the jolly prime. “How was your date?”
The other two turn to me, brows quirked. My cheeks flame. “It was… adequate,” I downplay before correcting myself. “It was amazing. Of course.”
“Aw, our omega is shy,” Brodie coos. He bends down to kiss my cheek but lingers when he gets a whiff of my scent. He groans deep in his chest and then whispers so only I can hear. “It seems it went better than adequate if your scent is anything to go off, Omega.”
“Shut up,” I mutter, but my lips twitch all the same.
DJ grunts again, his fingers squeezing the controller. “You two are not helping me at all.”
“Do you want to play, man?” Raivat asks Brodie, extending his controller toward him.
He belly laughs in response, shaking his head. “I’m not playing with him right now. Look at his face.”
Being called out must do the trick, because DJ’s shoulders relax. “Sorry. I get a little ramped up sometimes.”
“Do you get like that during your matches too?” I ask.
Raivat snorts and Brodie says, “It’s worse.”
My eyes widen as I smile. “I can’t wait to see it.”
My statement lingers in the air, reminding everyone of the reality of our situation. Elsie and I will be at their games from now on, what little is left. If everything keeps going the way it is, we’ll all be there for everything life throws at us from now on.
The tiny note of vulnerability pushes through us, but there’s something else too. Happiness seems to pulsate in the air as my words sink in.
But with that happiness, there’s also a missing piece. Tonight has been amazing, but I can’t help but think about the omega I love and how much better it would be if she were here with us right now.
“Maybe Elsie would like this game,” Raivat comments like he can read my mind.
I scrunch my features, a random burst of sadness coursing through me. “Yeah, maybe.”
I know it must be apparent to them, but I can’t seem to hold it back. My thoughts turn to Elsie, her beautiful face taking up residence in my mind.
I scoff at myself. Like it hasn’t been there since the moment we met at the bus stop when we were eight years old.
Like I didn’t see her crying over her ruined project and do everything in my power to make it up to her.
I’ve been doing that for years now, instinct driving me.
Maybe it was more than just love, but this deep knowing that we were meant to spend our lives together one way or another.
I miss her. I can’t help thinking it. Our problem may have been us potentially having different packs on the surface, but it was never as simple as that. My feelings for her would have surpassed what was socially acceptable.
I’m now realizing that fate would never have done that to us. This was always our destiny, and now that we’re being courted by the same pack, things still feel just as heavy and unsolvable, because I’m in love with her. Same pack or not, I won’t be able to settle until she knows the truth.
