20 - Avery #2

“You’re so fucking responsive,” he mutters against my skin. “Every time I touch you, you just…”

Before he can finish, I cut him off with a hard kiss. Half laughing and half breathless, we roll.

Instead of the mattress, empty air greets me.

Then, the floor.

The impact knocks the breath from my lungs as Grayson lands awkwardly above me, catching most of his weight on his hands.

“Shit, baby, I’m sorry.”

He starts to pull away, but I don’t let him. Instead, I yank him into another kiss, trying to ignore the way my stomach flipped at how easily he just called me baby.

“Definitely not boring,” I say against his lips. “Fuck me. Please.”

“On the floor?” He pulls back, eyes dark.

“On the floor. On the fucking moon. I don’t care where, as long as you’re inside me.” Pressing a firm kiss to his mouth, I add, “Right.” My hand slides between us, gripping his cock. “Now.”

His hand shoots into the nightstand above us, grabbing a condom that he rolls on in what has to be record time.

“Yes, ma’am,” He teases, guiding his cock to my entrance.

He pushes inside slowly at first, and I wrap my legs around him, pulling him closer until he’s flush against me. His body freezes, giving me time to adjust because he’s every bit as big as he looks.

Beneath him, I start to wiggle, shallow movements easing the ache into something needier. My nails dig into his back. The entire time, his gaze roams over my face as though he’s committing every reaction to memory. Only when I nod does he begin moving again, thrusting slowly at first.

My shallow breaths turn into moans, and he moves faster, leaning in to kiss me. Our tongues swirl together slowly, savoring every taste.

After all, this is only supposed to happen once.

The reminder echoes through my head while we lose ourselves in each other, my body arching against him.

“Your pussy fits me so perfectly.” He breathes against my lips before bending down and closing his mouth around my nipple.

Then, every thought leaves my head at once.

“Oh fuck, Grayson.”

“That’s it, baby. Let go for me.” He glances up at me through his eyelashes.

“I’m close.”

“I know you are. I can feel your pussy tightening around me.”

Deliberately, his thrusts slow, creating exactly the right amount of friction with every movement.

“Please.”

Honestly, I don’t even know what I’m begging for.

Please make me come.

Please touch me.

Please don’t ever stop.

All of it.

None of it.

“That’s right, Avery.” Bringing his face back to mine, he brushes our noses together. “You might not like me, but you love the way I make you come.”

My orgasm hovers just out of reach until his hand slips down and circles my clit.

He kisses me in perfect rhythm with his thrusts.

“You said this would only happen once.” A harder thrust. “Which is a shame.” Another. “Because no one else is ever going to fuck you.” Thrust. “The way.” Thrust. “I do.”

One final pass across my clit sends the orgasm crashing through my body. A groan tears from him at the same time, and moments later, he’s collapsing beside me, making the already cramped space between the bed and wall feel even smaller.

The room is quiet except for the sound of our breathing, and I feel comfortable in a way I haven’t in a long time.

Grayson pushes himself to his feet first.

“I’ll be right back.”

I nod, unable to trust my voice.

What the hell did we just do?

When the bathroom door closes behind him, I stand up, almost losing my balance in the process. My things are scattered across the floor, and I grab them with shaking hands, sliding back into my dress.

This is bad.

This is so, so bad.

Not because of what happened.

Hell, I’ve been dying to have sex for months.

I knew what I wanted tonight.

Grayson.

But I didn’t expect to feel like this. Like maybe I wouldn’t mind doing it again.

We’re the definition of incompatible. Unless, apparently, we’re having sex, and then I guess we go together just fine.

Fuck. Me. What was I thinking?

All of our friends overlap. We have to see each other constantly. This no-strings one-night stand is full of fucking strings.

I make it halfway across the room before the bathroom door opens.

“Avery?”

The sound of my real name freezes me in place. It’s further proof that this screwed everything up.

Grayson steps into the room wearing his glasses, loose gym shorts, and a smile that falters when he realizes what I’m doing.

“Oh.”

God, I hate how disappointed he sounds.

“I should go,” I say.

His brow furrows. “You don’t have to.”

“Yeah. I do.”

I have to go because this night was supposed to end with an orgasm, not a genuine smile and an invitation to stay the night.

“Can you stop running away every time you feel something a little too real?”

“This isn’t real.” I motion between us. “This is a fantasy land. Put us back in Boston, and we’ll remember why we can’t stand each other. We can’t even have a conversation without pissing each other off.”

“Yes, we can.”

“Oh yeah? Like right now?”

“Avery.”

“Stop calling me that.”

“Your name?”

“Yes. My name.”

Already moving, I reach for the door handle.

“You can stay. You should stay.”

I’m terrified by the fact that I almost do.

I almost turn around and crawl into his bed. But another relationship is the last thing I want, especially after last time, and that means this only ends one way.

A sharp knock rattles the door, making both of us jump.

“Grayson?” Wyatt’s voice calls from the hallway. “Are you alive in there?”

Eyes closing, I spend one miserable second hoping I’m imagining things and that Grayson’s best friend is not standing outside his hotel room.

Grayson drags a hand down his face. “Wyatt, now isn’t really…”

The pleading look in Grayson’s eyes just confirms that I need to get the hell out of here.

He can’t look at me like that.

I yank the door open, finding Wyatt standing there with a grin that vanishes when he sees me. His eyes flick between us, and understanding hits him like a freight train.

“Shit.”

I point directly at him. “If you say a single word about this to anyone, I will make sure your funeral is closed-casket.”

Wyatt raises both hands. “I didn’t even–”

“Not. One. Word.”

Then I’m gone, spinning on my heel and marching down the hallway before either of them can stop me. Somewhere behind me, Grayson calls my name.

I don’t stop.

By the time I step into the elevator, my face is burning.

I should be upset that Wyatt saw me leaving Grayson’s room. Instead, all I can think about is that a part of me really wanted to stay.
