25. Lawton
Lawton
“Mr. Pellegrin, we’ve recently run into a few issues and had to shoot out of town. I can have my assistant reach out to you to set-up a time for you to do a walk-through of the school when we make it back.”
“That will work. Like I explained the day we met, these things tend to happen. Unfortunately, I’m not the only deciding factor. In fact, me visiting the school isn’t something that should happen until the application is pushed through to the next level.
Because of my relationship with Patton and my need to see you guys win, I’m going to jump out on the ledge and cover the second step… that way I can advocate for you when you resubmit the application.”
Dropping my head, I scratched at the back of my neck. “I do understand. You will hear from my office in a few days with a date.”
“I look forward to it.” He let me know before ending the call.
I was happy as hell that I’d chosen to take this call outside on the balcony. Had Talitha heard what had just taken place she wouldn’t be able to enjoy the rest of our time here.
Since we landed in Miami yesterday, I’d done all I could to keep her spirits up and so far, it was working. She hadn’t shed a single tear since we left Atlanta. The smile she was rocking was one I was trying to have planted on her face permanently.
When my phone rung and William’s name came across the screen, I excused myself to the balcony. I was praying he was calling to say our application had made it past the first round but unfortunately that wasn’t the case.
Because of a technicality, it was denied and now I was going to have to get another set of eyes on it before resubmitting it. Talitha had worked on that shit for months and we were both hopeful that it would make the first cut. If she found out it didn’t, she would be devastated.
According to William, Talitha had forgotten to fill out one portion of the application which resulted in us being denied. Something as simple as that had pushed us back temporarily.
Sliding the patio door open, I tossed my phone on the chair and sat down beside Talitha. Adjusting my body across the sofa, I placed my head in her lap and stared up at her.
“Everything okay?” she asked without taking her eyes of the television.
“It is. Nothing I can’t handle while we’re here.”
Grabbing the remote off the arm of the couch, she muted the TV and stared down at me. “What is it, Harvey?”
“Nothing,” I assured. “Something with a potential business partner. I’ll follow up when we get home.”
“You promise?”
Reaching up, I grabbed her robe and pulled her down to me.
“I promise.” Pecking her lips, I let her robe go.
“You figure out what you want to eat tonight?” The earlier part of the day Talitha wanted to go for a swim so instead of going down to the beach, I took her to the rooftop pool at my condo.
Not only did she get the swim but the two of us laid around in a cabana and had lunch.
After leaving, we showered and had been laying on the couch watching movies. Before I slipped out to take the call, I told her to figure out what she wanted to eat tonight. Clearly her ass forgot because one mention of it had her gasping.
“Um…” she hummed. “I was supposed to do that, huh.”
“Um, my ass. Yes, you were.”
“I’m not really familiar with Miami so why don’t you just pick.”
“Nobu?” I threw out the first restaurant that came to mind.
“I can eat Nobu. I love the one in Atlanta so that’s fine.”
“Good.” I closed my eyes for a brief moment.
“What time are we going to eat?”
“That’s up to you. I’m sure those two tacos you took down didn’t do much to fill you up.”
“They did.” She laughed. “I’m okay for right now. We can go around seven.”
“That’ll work.”
Things got quiet in the room. I was trying to figure out when I wanted to break the news about the application to her. Surely, I wouldn’t do it before Monday, but I needed to bring it to her attention before she found out on her own.
“What made you buy a condo out here?” she asked, ending the silent thoughts in my head.
“I seldomly do business out this way. Got tired of living in hotels,” I half lied, half told the truth.
Adele lived in Miami. When I started moving weight for her, this was my first big purchase.
She had a connect at the private air strip that allowed me to move in and out of the country under the radar when I first started transporting cocaine into the states.
The other reason was so I could be closer to her anytime I wanted to see her. When Dahlia came into the picture, my visits to Miami slowed up. I no longer had a need to be here majority of the time.
It was also around that time where I found a better way of getting my shit to Atlanta. Instead of me being responsible for the transport, Adele started having it chartered in on her father’s plane.
“What kind of business?”
“Stuff with my tech firm. For a minute there, I entertained the idea of opening a location up out here. Miami is thriving and ever since Cuba lifted their travel ban, it’s grown.
For a minute, I wanted to be in the thick of things but the older I got, the more I realized I would much rather be settled.
Plus, at the time I had Dah and with her at the youth center full-time, I couldn’t fathom the thought of us being apart for an extended period of time.”
“For someone who wasn’t in love with her, you surely did change up a lot of things,” she casually remarked.
“I told you I had issues with abandonment. It didn’t start or end with my mother. Even if I refused to give her longevity, I gave her all of my available time.”
“And she still walked away?”
“What I had to offer wasn’t working for her anymore,” I responded flatly.
“What are we doing, Harvey?”
Sitting up, I gazed into her eyes. “In what context?”
Motioning with her hands she bleated, “Us. We both have issues, mine may be a little more prevalent than yours. But they do exist on both ends. We date behind closed doors.”
“At your insistence,” I retorted.
“I know. I don’t know what to refer to you as. And I don’t want to say the wrong things and scare you away.”
“I assure you, mothing you say or do will run me away from you, Talitha.”
“You say that now. But in the future, you never know, Lawton.”
“You’re questioning me about what we are… how about you answer that for yourself.”
“Law,” she groused. “Now is not the time to talk in riddles.”
“I’m not. Tell me what you want, Talitha.”
“You.”
“And you have me.”
“No Law,” she whined. “I want you. As in exclusively. I’m not ready to shout from the rooftop that we’re an item just yet, but I don’t want to continue sneaking around. If it comes out, it just does. That’s where I’m at with it.”
“Then that’s what it is. I’m yours and you’re mine. That means whatever you want it to mean.”
“Nobody else?” she asked, knowing good and fucking well I’d already told her I don’t have the time to entertain more than one woman.
If she needed me to say it again for reassurance, I would give her that. Hell, for months I’ve referred to her as my lady because I assumed she and I were on the same page.
Because she had let her guard down so much, I had forgotten that Talitha needed to feel like she was in control of things.
With no other choice but to oblige I confirmed, “No one else, love. Just you and me rocking until you get tired of my ass.”
“I don’t think that’ll never happen.”
“Never say never, love.”
* * *
“Law…” she moaned a sigh of contentment.
“I know baby, I know,” I agreed and licked down the side of her neck before sucking that pulsing spot into my mouth. Angling my hips, I stroked her insides slowly. Every time I pulled back and pushed into her, Talitha’s hands grabbed at my waist.
“It feels… Sssss,” she hissed.
“It feels what, baby? Tell me,” I encouraged.
“Good!” she huffed. “So good.”
Leaning up, she met me halfway and snaked her tongue in and out of my mouth. Us defining what we were to each other had somehow made her horny. I was getting out of the shower so we could get dressed for dinner when she snatched my towel from around my waist and dropped down to her knees.
After sucking me off to the point where I had my hands on the back of her head guiding her moves, I snatched her up from the ground right before I nutted down her throat and bent her over the bathroom sink. We moved from the bathroom and ended up in bed, with her on top of me.
Talitha was feral and I was enjoying being on the receiving end. With her legs in the crease of my arms, I rotated my hips and thrashed in and out of her. The curls that she had placed in her head were now flat and sticking to the side of her face.
“Shit. I’m about to cum!” She gritted and clawed at my arms.
Bringing her legs down, I held one of them out and nestled my head in the crease of her neck. “Cum for me, love. Let me feel you rain down on me.”
“Law!” she shrieked.
When her walls trembled around me, I knew she was nearing the end. “Uhn uhn uhn,” she moaned a few times before yelling out that she was cumming. Increasing my speed, I jutted my hips forward and poked away at her center.
My head was still in the crease of her neck so when I felt myself about to lose control, I bit down on her shoulder before sucking her moist flesh into my mouth. My pelvic slammed against hers with every jagged thrust.
“Fuck Talitha!” I growled, sensing that I was no longer able to hold out. A few short jabs later and I was releasing into her without a fucking care in the world.
We could deal with the consequences after we left the condo for the night. The only thing on my mind was painting her walls with my seeds.
Dropping the hold I had on her leg, I pulled out just enough to get comfortable and sought solace in the space right between her boobs.
With my eyes closed, I adjusted my head, trying my hardest to put it through her chest. The sound of her heart thundering below me and her hands caressing my sweaty back lulled me into a peaceful slumber.
I don’t know how long I had laid on top of her sleep but her tapping me on the shoulder had me forcing my eyes open.
“Where you going?” I asked without moving.
