Chapter Thirteen

Eleven Months Later

I can't believe it's been almost ayear since mineand Chris's two-night-stand, and I can't help but smile as I reflect on how much has changed. Who would have guessed that being trapped in a blizzard, in my bosses house, with a stranger in the middle of nowherewould result in this?

Today, we have a meeting with Richard, our oblivious boss. Chris sits next to me, a sly grin on his face. He's well aware of my discovery of Richard's secret sex dungeon (I had to tell someone)and we've shared many laughs over it. It's turned into our little inside joke.

My thoughts return to that unforgettable room as Richard begins to speak. I stifle a laugh as I recall the awkward and hilarious moment when I discovered his hidden passion. Chris looks up and raises an eyebrow, a playful grin on his face. It's our hidden bond, something between just the two of us something I'm not sure Richard's room can boast, it looked well equipped for multiple guests.

What's funnier is how Richard, who is completely unaware we were even in his house, keeps unintentionally saying things with an accidental, suggestive meaning. Talking about locking people in and spanking the competition. It's as if the universe is trying to make us laugh. I try my hardest not to smile each time he accidentally says something vaguely dirty, but it's a losing battle. Chris, always the partner in crime, chucklesbeside me.

Richard looks at us, perplexed, probably wondering what is so amusing about his innocent remarks. He has no idea that every time he says something mildly suggestive, he brings back memories of that hilarious night.

I smile at Chris. He squeezes my hand under the table. Our relationshiphas grown stronger over the last year. What began as a two-night stand has blossomed into something beautiful.

I keep stealing glances at Chris as the meeting progresses, our eyes meeting and sharing knowing smiles. I didn't expect to have a boyfriend to take to meet my family this year, never mind one that came from such a memorable incident. I can't believe it, but getting snowed in at Richard's house was one of the best things to ever happen to me, a serendipitous moment that changed my life.

I give Richard a genuine smile as he wraps up the meeting, grateful for his unintentional contribution to our happiness. He nods, oblivious to the memories he's unintentionally triggered. Little does he know that his houseplayed a part in bringing Chris and me closer together.

Chris takes my hand as we exit the meeting room. I'm nervous, about him meeting my family, butwhatevercomes our way, we'll face it together, with laughter, love, and the memories of that snowy couple ofnights where it all began. We got through that, we can get through anything.

As we walk hand in hand into the future, I'm trulyfilled with gratitude for the twists and turns that brought us here. Life is unpredictably unpredictable, and the most extraordinary moments can sometimes emerge from the most unexpected circumstances. And for that, I'll always be grateful for that unforgettable snowed-in adventure that changed my life forever.
