Chapter Fourteen #3
“Let him spoil you and fuck you?” I offered. It didn’t sound like a bad thing. “Wait, you sought him out? Like you didn’t just hook up after the times he messed up for jobs, you went looking for him?”
Oh. My. Goodness.
“He’s a very attentive lover. There were a couple of jobs I did solo where he was playing nearby and I found him and…”
“Climbed him like a tree?” I giggled. I had no idea. “Wait, wait, you’ve mentioned this. Like I thought they were different guys, but they’re all him?”
She told me about it when she hooked up with guys. I just didn’t realize someone had become a frequent fuck.
Shit. Either he was amazing in bed, or she secretly had a thing for him.
Or both.
Her timer went off.
“Come on.” She stood.
We left the sauna and went into the cold plunge pool.
“Fuck, that’s cold,” I muttered as I tried to stay in until her timer went off. I didn’t like being cold.
It went off. Finally. I was so cold my nipples were on high alert.
“Come on, Mo Stóirín.” Taking my hand, she led me directly into the hot tub.
“This is more like it,” I said softly. The hot tub had other naked women in it, so I switched to Irish. “So… I need more info.”
“It’s just been him for some time,” she said softly, sinking into the water, her hair on top of her head.
Taking my scrunchy, I put my wet hair back up.
“Wait. For a while you kept coming back from banging guys pissed, because they wanted to keep you. Again, all him?” I asked.
“Yes.” She rubbed her temples. “He’s wanted to keep me for a while. It’s my own fault. I should have stopped it sooner.”
“If you want to pursue him, go for it. I mean, he and Carlos are besties, so it could work,” I suggested.
Saoirse let out a heavy sigh. “Alphas are for fucking only. He’s also a civilian. Sure, you Order omegas mate civilians all the time, but it’s a little more complicated for me. Could you imagine if I married a rockstar?”
“I’m not sure it’s against the Company’s policy. If he’s not what you want, then he’s not what you want,” I replied.
“He’s not what I want,” she said a little too quickly.
Sure. Maybe he wasn’t what she wanted. But what about what she needed?
While I wanted to keep her with me, I wasn’t such a selfish omega that I didn’t want her to have other partners.
But I knew that look and this wasn’t the time to discuss it.
“After this trip, it’s done. For good. No more hookups, and if he wrecks my job again, I won’t take any makeup dates disguised as gifts.” It sounded more like she was talking to herself than anything else.
Dates? If he thought him making things up to her were dates I could see why she’d get grumpy.
Her timer went off.
“Whatever makes you happy,” I told her as she helped me out of the hot tub. “I’ll punch him if you need me to.”
“I’m so happy I have you, Mo Stóirín.” She kissed me.
We showered off, put our robes back on, and went into the waiting room, until they called us for our massages. I curled up on the couch under a blanket. Saoirse got two cups of tea from the trolley and sat down next to me.
Leaning into her, I sipped my tea.
“I… I sang for him on stage.” A hint of burnt sugar fear shot through her scent.
“On stage? When?” I asked. Wow. She wouldn’t even sing karaoke with me.
“Sound check.” Saoirse told me about going with him to sound check and him taking the song she’d sang last night and mixing it. “Then he started to rap in Spanish. He rapped while I sang the song my gran taught me, while warehouse music played."
“That sounds incredible. Also, I’m proud of you.” I kissed her cheek.
“I felt wonderful. Everything blended perfectly. But his mind does that, putting things together you wouldn’t think would work,” she added.
Did he now?
“Are you going to perform with him tonight?” I asked.
“Of course not. I was just indulging his curiosity. He did ask if I’d record it so he could mix it. I… no. No.” She shook her head.
Oh? She wanted to.
“I think that would be fun, then he could use it, and you’d be anonymous. And he could make it up to you?” A hot air balloon ride? That sounded amazing.
“No more making it up to me. I’ll think about it.” Sighing, she took a sip of her tea. “But I can’t have a guy like that catching feelings for me.”
“Because he’s an alpha? Because he’s famous? I mean, obvi if you don’t feel anything for him, cut him loose, but if you do, what is really stopping you?” There were a lot of very valid things to consider in having a relationship with him.
“I love you and your big, sweet, heart.” She kissed me. “Guys like Dusty aren’t for women like me. Also, could he really love me?”
“I mean Carlos cares for me. Sometimes different is good. But I get it.” I didn’t mind playing with fire. My dads would bail me out, and my last name got me far.
Saoirse was the practical one, which was why she made such a good partner, both for work and romantically.
Still. Saoirse and a rockstar. Huh.
While I didn't know Dusty well, it seemed like he might actually be able to understand her. She could use a kind guy who was into grand romantic gestures.
But that was something she’d have to figure out on her own.
