Chapter Thirty-Seven #3
The pack bedroom took up the entire second floor. It had a big bedroom with a fireplace. The room also had a nest, giant closets, a large bathroom, a balcony, and a tiny hidden laundry room.
I peeked in the room. It looked like it had been painted and gotten carpet. Wow. Speedy.
“World’s fastest bathroom remodel for the pack bedroom, too,” she told me.
“Gotta spend it before they find out. You said you wanted the room on the top floor with the skylight, by the little staircase that leads to the roof. I like the room next to it, because it has that adorable alcove, the fireplace, and the moldings,” she explained. “I’d like to take that one.”
“As I thought you would.” The same moldings were also in the pack bedroom, as well as the dining and living rooms. There was a room with a fireplace on each floor, but only one had the alcove.
“Let me know what color you want your room and if you need any bathroom remodeling. I’m putting a better bathtub in mine tomorrow,” she told me.
“A power shower?” I had no idea. “Also, something relaxing? I have furniture I can bring if we need it, though I’m not attached to any of it, especially my bed. My apartment will be rented out furnished, anyway.”
“Can I do it?” Her eyes twinkled.
“Sure, but I want to choose my bed. I’d really like to get the adjustable kind,” I replied.
“Perfect. The two floors in between we can figure out–the guys can pick. We can add whatever they want done to the list,” she explained. “We won’t get everything done before the dads cut me off. But it’s a start. Then we can sit down and figure out what else we need and what the priorities are.”
“That sounds like a good plan to me,” I replied. Giving her another kiss, we went back down to the first floor.
We went into the kitchen, which was going to need plates and everything.
An electric kettle, a coffee machine that looked like you needed a degree to operate, and a cute rack of mugs already filled the counter, along with a half-unpacked grocery sack from the food hall at Hardwick's department store.
She started making me tea. “Hale will probably want an office so he can study. The street level floor is cute. I feel like we’ll spend a lot of time there.”
That was where the garage was. Along with a less formal living space, with a kitchenette and dining nook. Perfect for gaming, movie nights, or watching sports.
“Saoirse wants the bedroom on that floor, right? I figured she would,” I replied. That floor had a separate entrance with a little atrium. Also, an outdoor space that connected to the main terrace with a fun spiral staircase.
“Yes. That’s also being painted. I have an office for Saoirse and me being built in the basement.
Non-negotiable. Charging that to the tantrum card.
They can’t do it until next week,” she replied.
“I like the big laundry room. Hale’s already doing laundry.
The rest will be a gym. Saoirse’s ordering equipment.
Currently, she’s downstairs designing our office. ”
Fiona handed me a cup, then made herself some.
“I love you taking charge, but I don’t want you to get in trouble.” I kissed her again, then took a sip.
She waved me off with her hand as she took a tin of cookies out of the sack. “This is just some basics to make the place habitable. Don’t worry, there’s a lot to do. Let’s get everyone over so we can go power shopping. Then tonight we can make dinner together in our own place.”
With a happy squeal we sat down in the tiny breakfast bar and she opened the cookies.
“Is everything okay with your team?” she asked, as she bit into a long rolled cookie.
“Yeah. Didn’t get fined. Didn’t get benched.
I’m getting paid for the missed games. I can even play tomorrow.
Oh, I got family room passes for all four of you, along with tickets.
You all have health insurance. Some of you are MASOs.
Also, I got them beers as an apology after practice, then we visited our teammate who is in the hospital. ”
I checked my phone. The group chat was going off.
“You know, we might be tired after power shopping, maybe instead of cooking we can meet up with some of my friends for dinner. I’d love for you to meet them.
We can go to Taco Hut and see if Saoirse can out eat my friend Dimitri in a taco eating contest.” I grinned.
I would gladly pay for that. “Hale and I met at Taco Hut.”
Fiona thought for a moment. “That’s fun. What about the bar you always go to? I’d like to see that. Though we absolutely need to go to Taco Hut.”
“How about I ask what everyone is feeling like? Also, I have a small budget for new basics for this place, you don’t need to pay for everything,” I told her. “You still have to decorate your room and nest.”
“Oh, I already ordered a shit-ton of stuff online. You have no idea how fast I can shop. We also went to Hardwicks and got all sorts of things. Don’t worry, there’s so much to do.” She waved me off. “I love the idea of meeting your friends.”
I texted the group chat I had with some of my friends on the team.
Me
Want to meet my pack tonight? Taco Hut or Titos? My treat.
Gwen
I have a game tonight. Your cousin wants a picture of your omega. But another time I want to challenge Fiona to a taco-eating contest.
Should I take Gwen out of this group chat given she was no longer in the City? No. I’d leave her.
Me
Sounds like a plan. Good luck.
Clark
Either sounds good.
Tenzin
I’m still in Portland. Going to the game tonight.
He added a photo of two babies and a dog all on top of him.
Short version was that after he’d moved to New York and was with Gwen and Clark, he found out his ex was pregnant with twins, one of which was his.
While he didn’t like his ex, he had taken a little paternity leave to help out with his son between Christmas and New Year’s.
Anders
Tito’s. Your pack needs to experience our spot.
Dimitri
Tito’s is fine. We can watch Gwen’s game at my place afterwards if you want.
That would be the game Tenzin was going to see–his old team, the Portland Sasquatches, were playing Gwen’s team, the Mexico City Tigres. Fortunately, her team hadn’t been mad about her whole rescue mission yesterday.
Me
Perfect.
We were literally down the street from him now.
I switched over to the pack group chat.
Me
Our omega wants to go power shopping. Afterwards, let’s meet some of my team at Tito’s for dinner? If anyone wants to watch the Tigres play the Sasquatches, we can go to Dimitri’s or we can come home.
Fiona
We need a TV and a couch, which is why I need you for shopping. And beds if anyone needs one. Unless you want me choosing your bedroom furniture.
Hale
I don’t care. Also, I like Tito’s.
Dusty
We have to have dinner at my moms’ tomorrow after the game, but before the party. We are having tacos.
Saoirse
I need to know what workout equipment everyone likes. Also, I’ll be putting in a big pantry basics order. I need food preferences and allergies.
I looked at Fiona. “When’s our shit from Switzerland coming?”
While we’d taken some things with us last night, the dads promised the rest of it later.
“It’s being delivered tonight. I’m just having them put it inside the gate in the atrium on the lower entrance.
Mine and Saoirse’s stuff from our place will be here in a few days.
Though we have our basics now. New Year’s Day afternoon could be a good day to move some things from your place and Dusty’s,” she added.
“Sure. Though I have the second off completely. That might be a good day to make an appointment for us all to go to the Omega Center.” I took another cookie.
Fiona nodded. “That’s a good idea.”
“Did you know that the front door is open? Not safe.” Hale came into the kitchen holding a laundry basket.
She kissed Hale. “It’s open because of the paint. Don’t worry, we’re going to be adding Saoirse’s cousins’ approved security system.”
Hale plopped down and grabbed a cookie. “Verity called me.”
My head hung. “Sorry. When she burst into the locker room and yelled at me I thought she knew. It was actually about you taking her car.”
“Yeah.” Hale rubbed his head. “She found a little backpack charm.”
“Oh, I was missing that. Is she mad?” Worry crept into Fiona’s scent.
