Chapter 15 The Hospital Call

I did not even remember how I had escaped.

My mind was chaotic. The contrast between spending days with the Boss and talking romance with my Online Boyfriend at night felt too jarring.

I could not free my hand, so I slapped him.

While the Boss stood stunned by the slap, I pulled away.

I walked the streets alone. Why did fate like to toy with me?

Everything in our chats now looked different.

Looking back at our chat history, everything now had traces.

No wonder he once said dating the Boss might be a good thing.

He had not been pushing me toward someone else. He had been speaking well of himself.

I had even handed him the Proposal he stayed up all night to write.

But when you think things cannot get worse, they always do.

With stinging eyes I blocked the Boss.

The next second a call came from the hospital.

"Your mother's condition is not good."

My whole body turned cold.

With shaking hands I opened the app to buy a return ticket.

Everything was sold out. The earliest flight was tomorrow morning.

I felt powerless. I was useless at everything.

Suddenly the light dimmed. Someone blocked both light and wind.

"Why are you so cold?"

The Boss frowned as he took my hand. We sat together on the roadside.

"This place is dirty," I reminded him.

Only then did I notice my voice had gone completely hoarse.

"I do not mind."

The Boss tucked my hand into his own pocket.

"I heard about your mother. I can get tickets back."

My eyes brightened as I looked at him. Tears still spun in my sockets.

"But I want to go back with you."
