Chapter Eight #5
“I know your heart, Lucian. I trust and believe in our marriage. As long as you still have love for me, I can accept that you also have love for someone else. I understand your heart analogy. I won’t love our current child less either because I have to split the love.
I can love our youngest just as much because a heart can grow. ”
He held her and knew he was married to the best woman in the whole world.
Bishop was honest.
“Just be patient with me as I learn to navigate this. I’m not accustomed to sharing you. I might ask questions or react before thinking because this is a new journey for me, too.”
He stared at her.
“Baby, you’re allowed to ask questions. If anything, I owe you answers. We will be open and honest if that’s what you want. Even if that means more open than before.”
Well, good.
She hated secrets. They always got someone hurt. If they could be honest and open, she wouldn’t be afraid.
Now, though, she had a question.
“Will you be pursuing a relationship on this plane?” she asked. “Because you said the draw is strong.”
He was honest—because it proved that was always the best policy.
“It’s difficult not to want that. Like when I see you, I’m turned on. Right now, with you sitting in my lap, the beast wants his beauty.”
She understood.
“The answer to that question is complicated because it’s not just him and myself here.
We have you to consider, too. If you want me to be honest, then, I will.
Much like with you, I crave being near him.
I don’t remember what the sex was like on this plane, but if it’s like it is in the other, yeah, it turns me on. ”
Oh, she suspected.
There was the telltale pulse of his erection getting harder as he spoke about it.
“If I didn’t exist, what would happen?” she asked.
He knew the answer to that.
“Then, I would be in a relationship with Ridge. In the static, you’re not there, so we have a relationship. If there was no Bishop, and there had never been a Wynter, there would have been us as a couple. I’ve only ever wanted to marry one person—but now, I’d definitely marry two.”
Well, then, that answered her question.
“You can have that relationship with him, as long as it doesn’t diminish ours. I don’t mind sharing love. I just don’t want to wake up one morning and find out that you stopped loving me and are walking away.”
He touched her cheek.
“I will never stop loving you, Bishop. You’re the mother of my children, and the best thing that ever happened to me. I chose you. Ridge was put in my path, but you and I made a choice to be this couple.”
She kissed him softly on the lips.
“That’s all I needed to know.”
Lucian was to the point.
“Ridge is going to be broken by this for a while. I can’t foresee this being an issue for some time.”
She laughed.
“Yeah, and you didn’t foresee this being a problem when you weren’t banging a man on this plane. So, let’s not be ridiculous. At one point, you’re both going to want to have sex again.”
It wasn’t like she was wrong.
“Inappropriate question time,” she said. “The cat needs to know, even if curiosity kills it. Do you give or receive?” she asked, not mincing words.
It wasn’t like he was shocked.
He said she could ask.
Lucian knew her better than that to give her carte blanche when it came to a questioning. The attorney hadn’t thought that one through.
He laughed.
“Uh, it’s weird having to tell my wife this, but I know you need full access, so here it is.
I gave. There and here with the exception of when this went to hell.
He was the aggressor. That should have been my sign something was manipulating it.
Ridge isn’t aggressive in the static as the dominant one.
He’s more…malleable, I guess would be the word. ”
She leaned into him.
“Oh, and here is my silver lining. I think I just found my new kink.”
He lifted a brow.
“Me having sex with a man is your kink?”
She laughed outrageously.
“Hell, no. Me busting your ass to make you both VERY uncomfortable is. I’m giddy over it.”
He snorted.
“There’s my girl,” he said, resting his head on her shoulder. “I’m glad I didn’t lose her. God. I’m so fucking grateful she still loves me.”
Yeah, Bishop understood that feeling of relief.
Bishop knew that the road ahead was going to be a bumpy one.
Call it a hunch.
Oh, not for them.
For Ridge.
“He’s going to need us. This Wynter thing is going to keep him off of his feet for a while.”
Lucian went there.
“I’m going to ask something, and it’s big. If you can’t do it, I completely understand, and I’ll regroup and figure it out.”
She waited.
Already, she suspected what it would be.
“He can’t live there with what happened in their bedroom. Can we move him into our home with his daughter? Sophia is going to need normalcy, and so is Ridge. Jo, too?”
She considered that.
“I mean, I was going to suggest it. Am I worried I’m going to find my husband naked in bed with Ridge? I’m a curious cat, Lucian. I know me. If that happens, I’m making popcorn and watching the show. Who the hell are we kidding? I guess that is my kink.”
He laughed.
“And there she is again. Wickedly inappropriate, but absolutely valid at the same time.”
She snorted.
“We good, Lucian?” she asked.
He held her.
“We are now,” he stated. “Now that I’m not losing my wife to this, I think I can be strong enough to carry Ridge through this loss.”
She played with the wedding ring on his finger.
“Is it different or the same?” she asked.
