Chapter Fifteen #4

“Lucian and I will handle this part,” she said. “It’ll be best to hear it from us because of the ties he has to Lucian.”

Okay, that was it.

Julian couldn’t handle it anymore.

“And it really doesn’t bother you at all that your husband, the man you married and took vows with, is sticking his dick in another person? His best friend?”

There was a gasp.

Tori stared at him.

“Jules! Not cool!” she warned.

It was clear that this was affecting not only Ridge, but Bishop. She had a headache, looked stressed, and now had this on her plate.

Immediately, he tried to back off, seeing the look his wife was giving him.

It screamed ‘mind your goddamn business’.

Instead, Bishop reassured her.

“It’s okay, Tori. I’m not going to get punchy. I know everyone is curious. The answer, Julian, is no. I’m really not bothered by them having sex in the static.”

Or here.

But this was NOT the time to ever bring that up.

It was clear that their family wasn’t going to be able to not make comments in front of Ridge and Lucian at this point. That Tori had to warn Julian not to go there, and he still went there…

That told her all she needed to know.

Finding out they slipped and actually did have sex on this plane simply wasn’t their business, and she didn’t believe it caused any of this.

There had to be cracks in the wall before this happened, or Wynter would not have taken it to another man’s bed.

“You’re a stronger person than I am,” he admitted. “I’d struggle with it.”

Tori tried to help her out because she understood that none of this was cut and dry, nor their concern. Their world was a mishmash of crazy on a good day, and what their employees did in their own homes was none of their business.

On a bad day, it could be difficult, so why make it worse?

They were NOT going to judge or demonize anyone for this since it wasn’t their life.

“Maybe all of this has a point,” she began. “I’m going to start having an affair.”

It was his turn to gasp. Now, Julian was staring at her, but he didn’t get to say a word.

“I think it’s going to be with a hot brunette with huge knockers.”

That’s when it happened.

Slowly, he smiled.

When he opened his mouth to say something regarding that, Tori put him in his place.

“One, that’s not happening, but see how you were immediately not offended when you found out it was a same sex romp?

Ridge and Lucian are of the same sex. Bishop can’t compete with a dick, and Ridge can’t compete with those tits,” she said, glancing over at her.

“They are nice tits, and you were the brunette in this scenario.”

Both Honor and Bishop laughed.

How could they not?

It amused Bishop that she’d just said the same thing to Hart when he’d asked her if she was okay.

For a few seconds, Julian was silent. It was clear he was considering it.

Finally, he spoke.

“Okay, you’ve made your point. I didn’t think of it that way. I still would lose my mind over it, but I can see why you might not be upset because it’s a man he is sleeping with in the static. He’s not replacing you.”

Yeah, and there it was.

“If it was a woman, I’d go on a rampage,” Bishop said.

“That’s a little too close to the fire for me.

I would have said no to that request and then slapped the shit out of my husband.

I know from being around Ridge and Lucian, it’s not about boredom fucks.

They love each other, and their lives are connected in the static.

He can die in there without Ridge. I can’t judge it the same.

I know what’s on the line. If it comes down to losing my husband in the static, or him coming out each time due to his partnership with Ridge, I’m choosing the latter every single time. ”

That was a good point.

When Julian was about to bring up the medallions again, Bishop’s phone rang again.

Only, she didn’t recognize the number.

“Detective Monroe,” she said, answering it and not putting it on speaker.

That’s when she heard the very familiar voice.

“Hey, it’s Maura. We have a problem. We found you a new victim. Oracle nailed it, again. Right now, she’s hanging in a tree, and we couldn’t get close enough to give you more. I think her neck is broken from the drop, so this needs the cops. Tag. You’re it, pretty girl. I’ll send the address.”

“Oh, shit.”

Everyone at the table was staring at her.

“Thanks, Maura. Head in and get some sleep. Thanks for the call,” she offered.

With that, she hung up.

When she looked over, Honor was curious.

“What? That’s the lady who used to work with Avalon, right? Why do I feel twitchy, Bish? Please don’t say what I think you’re going to say.”

Oh, well, she was going to do just that.

“Yeah, that was Maura, and they found a woman hanging in a tree. They are sending the information.”

Her phone chimed, and she saw the address pop up on her screen.

That wasn’t good enough for her partner. Honor went there, as she normally would.

“How did they find a body?”

Yeah, that as her first question wasn’t shocking at all. If she didn’t know how Avalon worked, she would have thought it too.

Only, she had a unique insight into it.

“It’s going to involve psychic stuff, and you don’t like that. Are you sure you want to know?”

She closed her eyes.

Well, that said it all.

Of course, she didn’t want to know. Only, what choice did she have? This was their circus, and their clowns, so to speak.

“Hit me with it. It’s not like this day could get much worse on any of the fronts, right?”

They all laughed at that.

“Well, now, we’re jinxed,” Tori admitted. “Way to go, Copper.”

Bishop clued her in.

“Avalon likely went into the static, listened to the voices, and pulled information out of it to find this killer. That’s normal for her. She’d find the person in danger and use her gift to help us head off a killer. She’s tracking a killer on that plane with the help of the dead.”

Honor stared at her.

“You’re right. I shouldn’t have asked. I didn’t need to know that.”

Yeah, no shock there.

“I guess we’re going to go find another ‘suicide’ victim so our boss can ride our asses,” Bishop said, kicking back the rest of her coffee.

Tori was curious.

“Can we come? I want to see if any dead are lingering, or if this thing got her too.”

Yeah, Bishop didn’t care.

Honestly, she didn’t have an issue with being seen with the Littlemoons.

Her partner, though?

Yeah…

That was going to be something only Honor could answer for them.

When they all looked at her, Honor made this strangled sound like it pained her to answer them. It was somewhere between torture and someone twisting her arm.

“Pretty please?” Tori asked.

She laughed, and it wasn’t a funny kind of a ha-ha.

It was one step from someone losing their mind.

“Why the fuck not? I mean, it’s clear we’ve lost total control of this case. What’s a ride along with my brother and sister-in-law to a crime scene where a psychic is killing people, and the only way to stop it is to bring in more psychics?”

Julian laughed.

And laughed.

And laughed.

Why?

“When you say it that way, it sounds bad,” he stated.

She stared at him like he’d lost his goddamn mind on this one because that had to be the only explanation.

“Julian! It is bad! All of it is horrible! None of that was good. NOT. ONE. BIT!”

Well, it wasn’t bad for them. This was normal to them.

For her…

Yeah, this had to suck.
