Chapter 10 - Present Day #2

“Really? First of all, they’re not as good-looking or sexy as we are.

They’re too fat and will only get fatter after a few kids.

They have no assets to bring to your family to help it grow.

They have no idea how to act in the social settings you are in.

They can’t be a partner to you in the way you need.

We’ve been raised to be the wives of men like you, men of wealth and stature,” Maureen explained.

When she mentioned weight and kids, she smugly ran her gaze up and down Maeve.

It was true that Maeve was a little heavier than she had been before Darragh, but it did nothing to diminish her desirability.

His hands hadn’t left her body alone the whole pregnancy, and still, our brother adored her curves. I knew I loved Brenda’s.

All three of our women growled low in their throats and took a step toward their nemesis. My brothers and I sat back to watch. Our ladies put themselves nose-to-nose with the socialites.

“My man loves my body. He’s been so desperate for it that he’s counting the days until we can have sex again after the baby is born.

And while we’ve waited, he sure had no problem worshipping my body and doing everything short of fucking my pussy.

He wants me to stay pregnant so he can enjoy my new body even more,” Maeve slammed back at Patricia.

All three socialites wore designer everything, dripped in jewelry, and were model thin. Even with all that and their flawless makeup and hairdos, they didn’t hold a candle to our women.

“You might actually be able to catch a man if you gave up the rabbit food and ate an actual cheeseburger once in a while, Twiggy,” Cyndi taunted Maureen.

“Getting some meat on those bones might help with that resting bitch face you wear. If you weren’t always starving, you’d be able to get a personality. Money doesn’t attract real men, just boys.” Brenda finished them off.

As they belittled our uninvited guests, my brothers and I rose to our feet.

I had no clue whether Linda or the other two would try to do anything, but I wasn’t about to sit there and let it happen.

Out of the corner of my eye, I saw that our nearby neighbors were tuned in to our drama. I knew they heard at least some of it.

A strangled scream rolled out of all three of the unwelcome women.

I was moving as Linda’s hand came up to slap or maybe scratch Brenda.

However, it was unnecessary. Bren caught the hand, shoved it down and away, while slapping Linda with her other hand.

There was more than one slap heard. A cursory glance showed none of our ladies had been touched.

Linda, Maureen, and Patricia all burst into tears and loudly squawked that they’d been hit, demanding we do something about it.

“If you don’t want more, then leave. And stay away from us. Oh, and your remarks about our wives’ bodies are so far off the mark. You really should put some damn meat on your bones,” Patrick snapped.

“If you stay, we’ll watch them beat your asses all over the place,” Cormac added.

“And if you try anything like this again, we’ll make sure to ruin your entire families. You’ll be lucky if you can buy shit from a thrift store,” I warned.

There was some more crying and pleading, but eventually, they gave up and walked away. They went out the front door. When they were gone, Brenda muttered darkly as she picked up her earrings from the table.

“Shit, that wasn’t worth taking off our damn earrings.”

“Tell me about it. Let’s get a drink and sit here for a bit. Make sure those skanks and any others know to stay away. These three are ours,” Maeve suggested.

A chorus of yeses was what came back to her. And that was precisely what they did.

The kids were chuckling as Gianna posed her next question.

“What happened to that awful manager, Carlos? And Malcolm and Johnny, they went out with?”

“Carlos didn’t last long. He tried to retaliate and get Cyndi and Brenda fired.

He was jealous of their sales, not just to us, but also of how well they did overall.

When his underhandedness came to the owner’s attention, including stealing commissions from other sales staff and forcing them to work overtime without pay, along with other issues, the owner fired him.

Then, the owner decided he’d had enough of running the store.

He decided to sell it. The new owners were fair,” I told them.

“That’s good. Did you like the new owners?” Roc asked.

“Uhm, they were alright,” Brenda said, casting a smirk my way. I growled, which made her giggle.

“Wait, don’t tell us. You bought it,” Gianna stated.

“Yes, it was one of our first legal investments. It was the first Divine Jewelers location,” I confessed.

“Carlos kinda got off easy, if you ask me,” Rardo muttered.

“No, he didn’t. He was blackballed from working in any kind of jewelry business throughout Florida, and it somehow followed him when he left the state,” Cyndi revealed. Crows of delight came from the kids.

“And Johnny and Malcom? Did they have to be chased away?” Luc asked.

Cormac and I exchanged smiles. He answered them.

“No, they didn’t. It took a couple of years to be able to see them and not want to wring their necks for wanting our women.

By then, they’d moved on and found their soulmates and were happily married.

We ended up becoming friends, and they were the ones who helped us form éireann Construction.

They were both construction workers, knew the business, and had contacts all over.

It was our third legitimate business. They’re still friends to this day.

” Based on the exclamations and looks, the DeSantis family was surprised by this revelation.

“Okay, two more than we’ll let someone else share a story.

How did the first meeting go with Seerie and her husband?

I know everything is wonderful now, but was it always like that?

Was anyone pregnant by the time that first meeting or the weddings happened?

” Renzo asked. He’d remained quiet the entire time, but the talk had engrossed him.

“It was a couple of weeks after they all agreed that they were staying together. It was the new year. The buachaillí, boys, brought them to have dinner with Conall, Patrick, Maeve, and me. We loved them from the moment we met. We saw how much our sons adored and loved them. The cailíní, girls, were as lovely and sweet as could be. They were like our Maeve. We never had a problem with them, except for their insistence on a rushed wedding. I hoped to have more time to arrange them. But they were just like Patrick and my Conall. Once they made up their minds, there was no stopping them,” Mam said, smiling fondly at all six of us. Our wives blew her kisses.

“We had a double ceremony in February, and to answer your last question, I was already two months pregnant with Cian. Cyndi and Cormac held out almost eighteen months after the wedding before they had Aidan. It seemed that they weren’t doing it right and had to learn how babies were made,” Brenda snickered.

This earned her death threats from her best friend, protests from Cormac, and razzing from the rest. I loved this. Story time was one of my favorite things about the holidays. Sipping my whiskey, I cradled my love on my lap and waited to see what would be next.
