Rheon

Bound in flame and starlight

She was the most dangerous thing I had ever seen.

And the most beautiful. Standing beneath the twin moons of the Demon Realm, Seori glowed.

Her skin shimmered with the soft gleam of celestial light — a gift from her father.

Her eyes held a storm — a promise and a warning.

Her gown, dark as midnight and threaded with firelight, kissed the earth like it had waited a thousand years just to cling to her.

And she was mine.

The mating ritual was ancient — older than the Demon Kings, older than the war that split the realms. But for us, it felt new. Sacred. Ours.

I stood at the obsidian altar carved into the spine of a fallen beast god. The mark on my chest burned with anticipation, tethered to hers.

"She’s late," I muttered, mostly to myself.

“She’ll come,” Jisoo said beside me, half-smiling. “Though I wouldn’t blame her if she ran from your dramatic ass.”

Taeyang snorted. The tension between the three of us wasn’t gone. But it was… thinner. Healing. Still, I didn’t miss the way both of them looked away when I mentioned Seori. Their mates weren’t speaking to them. And I knew it carved them open in places they didn’t know could still bleed.

“She’ll forgive you,” I said quietly to Taeyang.

He looked up, startled.

“You don’t know that.”

“I don’t need to,” I replied. “I see the way your bond reacts. And she’s still here. That means everything.”

Jisoo scoffed.

“And what about Minji? She’d rather stab me with her hairpin than look me in the eye.”

I turned to him, voice firm.

“You did hurt her. But love isn’t about perfection. It’s about choosing to stay, even after the worst of you is seen. If you keep choosing her — honestly — she’ll feel it.”

Both of them fell silent. And then I felt it. The bond flared.

She was coming.

I turned — and the entire realm stilled.

Seori stepped onto the platform. Behind her, the demon queen stood tall, her chin lifted with regal pride. Beside her, Seori’s father — now fallen, but still radiant — stood with quiet reverence.

Seori’s eyes locked with mine.

And suddenly, it was just us.

She crossed the space with slow, steady steps — and I swore my heart forgot how to beat. Every inch of her was war and wonder. My salvation and my undoing.

I took her hands. They trembled slightly.

“You’re not afraid?” I whispered.

She shook her head, a small smile curving her lips.

“Only of how much I want this.”

Then we began.

The bond glowed gold and crimson between our joined palms, blooming into threads of light that wrapped around our wrists. The old words poured from our lips, ancient syllables only our souls remembered.

“Flame to flame,” I murmured.

“Light to shadow,” she answered.

“Heart to heart.”

“Bound, not broken.”

Then I stepped forward, resting my forehead to hers.

“Seori,” I breathed, “I choose you. In life, in battle, in blood. As mate. As soul.”

Her voice shook.

“Rheon, I choose you. Even in the dark — especially in the dark.”

The bond snapped into place.

A rush of heat, light, fire — the world went white. We were flame and wind and every star that had ever burned. My power wrapped around her like a shield. Her soul kissed mine like it had always lived there.

I opened my eyes.

She was crying.

So was I.

I pulled her close, my hand at her lower back, the other cradling her jaw.

“You’re mine now,” I said hoarsely. “Forever.”

She nodded, whispering,

“And you’re mine.”

I couldn’t stop myself. I kissed her.

Not gentle.

Claiming.

The cheers in the background blurred. I felt nothing but her — the way her hands tangled in my hair, the soft gasp against my lips, the tremble in her thighs when I pressed her closer.

“You’re going to have to carry me,” she murmured breathlessly when we broke apart.

“Gladly,” I growled, picking her up like she weighed nothing. “And I’ll never put you down again.”

As we walked back toward the palace, the moons above beamed down like blessings. The bond pulsed warmly between us, no longer a question — just a promise.

And I knew this wasn’t the end of our story.

It was only the beginning.
