Chapter Forty-Seven

I looked around me and suddenly the music went mute, the only sound I could hear was my own heart pounding loudly into my ears. Kinsley wasn’t here. She was nowhere in sight to be exact. I turned around, panic starting to get the better out of me.

It’s all right. I tried to calm myself. She’s smart and she wouldn’t?—

My phone buzzed and I pulled it out, letting out a relieved breath when I saw the name on the text.

Sage sent you a message

I read what she wrote before turning toward the forest. I had just stepped out from between the crowd of dancing people when I saw her disappear into the woods after Cora. I read her text again and sent one of my own to the guys before I followed.

The plan was in motion.

I stayed behind, out of sight, but I followed them under the darkness of the trees. We were walking for a good ten minutes now between the dark trees, and Kinsley never once glanced backward, even though I was sure she knew I was following. At least, I hoped so. The two girls abruptly stopped in the middle of a clearing, and I narrowed my eyes, but the Jones siblings were nowhere in sight.

Just as Kinsley predicted.
