Chapter 29
Tyson
My head feels like it weighs more than my entire body as I lay in Rohan’s lap.
His thighs and the scent of him are comforting.
I missed it. Probably should be thinking about more logical things right now, like getting the fuck out of here, but I feel like I could do anything now that he’s here. With the way he’s looking down at me.
He’s never looked at me like that before.
I’ll make sure to fuck with him about it later.
I chuckle, and he frowns at me, making those cute little lines between his eyebrows.
“What’s funny in this situation?” he huffs.
“Still mad I won’t let you kiss me? Don’t worry, we can kiss plenty when we’re out of here.”
“Tyson, you’re delusional.”
“Says the one trying to make out after he left me in a dark, dusty castle for days,” I smirk up at him.
“I can’t believe, even half dead, these are the things you say.”
“Half dead and you’re trying to kiss me.”
“Shut up.” Rohan groans and uses a potion to give me some health, instantly making my body feel lighter again.
“Ah, so you brought potions but were trying to use your tongue instead. I knew you were doing that just to…” Before I can get the rest out, Rohan pushes my head off his lap and back onto the hard floor with a thud. I laugh, staring up at the stone ceiling.
That’s my Rohan.
“Glad you’re alright,” a voice says from behind him. I turn my head to see Leon, the gardener? Come to think of it, I was just going to ask Rohan how the fuck he got through the map by himself.
I guess there’s my answer.
“Leon…”
“The one and only, helped your lov—I mean, friend here come find you.” He grins, putting out a hand to help me up. I stumble into him a little, my body still feeling off its axis.
“Thanks, and thank you for escorting him.”
Rohan is looking around the room, opening drawers and going through books on the shelf. He seems to love to wander. He walks over to the window and looks out for a little, the blue night light looks pretty against his skin.
“So, should we get going?” Leon says, snapping me out of my thoughts.
“Oh, yeah. But wait, the town’s leader…”
“You found him!?” Rohan’s head whips toward me.
“Yeah, he was in the cells with me. The monster must have captured him, and that’s why we couldn’t find him.”
“Hmm, that’s so weird.” Rohan shakes his head, his curls bouncing against his cheek.
He’s too cute.
“What?”
“Nothing, let’s uh, go get him and head back to the inn. I’m tired.”
“Yeah, I’m sure you are. With getting your ass kicked and all,” Rohan snickers, walking by me.
“Catch no breaks with this one.”
“Ah, true love,” Leon laughs.
“Love?” I say, my brows pinched, “I wouldn’t call it that.”
“Whatever you say, kid.”
* * *
“Thank you again for saving me!” The town’s leader says, bowing his head to us, “I don’t even remember how I got there, but if not for you brave warriors…” He grabs Rohan’s hand, holding it firmly for a while before I pull Rohan back towards my chest.
“Yeah, no problem,” I grunt, eyeing him.
Rohan looks up at me and rolls his eyes. “You’re welcome. So, this key to the clock tower?” he asks, getting to the point as usual.
“Oh yes! The key! I’ll get it for you!” He goes behind his desk and retrieves it. It’s heavy in my hands, and I tuck it away into our items pouch.
“There’s some tough monsters in there, but I’m sure you boys will be fine. Be careful though.”
“We will.” Rohan nods with a smile.
I give the town’s leader a final nod and turn to leave. Before we can get to the exit, his voice stops us. “Oh! And you boys should come to the harvest fest! We’ll make it special just for you. A big thank you for saving me,” he says, his smile wide across his face.
“Okay, yeah, sounds fun!” Rohan’s eyes light up.
I guess he likes this sort of thing?
The game sometimes hosts these special events, like harvest fest, increased experience points in certain maps or during a specific period of time, special drops. Just to keep the players engaged in their day-to-day gameplay. Rohan is wearing the brightest smile as we head for the courtyard.
I grab his arm to stop him. “Do you wanna go?”
We haven’t talked much since getting back into town; by the time we made it out of the castle with the leader, it was early morning already. There’s still something on the tip of my tongue my brain is too tired to place yet.
“To…”
“The harvest fest,” I say.
“Oh, um, yeah, you don’t have to come with me if you’re tired.” He’s blushing again. Does he want me to go with him? Then again, this is Rohan.
His eyes tell me what he really wants.
“I’ll go with you,” I smirk, looking down at him. “I can just sleep through the daylight.”
“Yeah, I mean … if you want to,” Rohan mumbles, biting his lip and looking away from me.
Fuck, he acts so shy when he likes someone.
Wait, does he like me?
Has he accepted the fact that Zero and I are the same fucking person? Rohan kicks the front of my boot, snapping my attention back to him. “What are you doing?”
“Nothing.”
“Exactly, you’re just staring at me like a creep,” he says softly.
“You can never stay cute for long, can you?”
“Cute?” Rohan’s eyes widen, they look like when a cat sees something it really wants. I’m going to die. They’re so big and starry.
I lean down close to his ear. “Yeah, you’re cute … sometimes.”
“Let’s go back to the inn and lie down, your head is fucked from getting rocked by that monster,” he says, pushing me.
“Sure, whatever you say, kitten.”
