Chapter 6 #2

Caleb’s heart felt shattered when he saw her eyes watering. An actual tear streamed down her cheek. What was with this girl? Was she truly so devoid of anything like this in her life that a simple gesture tore her into pieces?

Her lips trembled as she whispered in a broken cry, “Why wait?”

Please, kiss me.

A sweltering sensation flushed his chest and back that wired every damn nerve in his body.

Caleb put his other hand on her face and took in all the forbidden beauty of her expression.

Her whole body was trembling. As his breath raced out of his lips, he battled a horrible fight in his mind, what would happen if I did?

He drew in a deep breath, then slowly kissed her. Their lips barely pressed against the soft and warm flesh of one another’s.

Evie let out a hot breath right after his lips touched hers, and then she tilted her head to the side to take the passion deeper.

He had her. Like tinder knowing it was time to succumb to the flames, she fell apart with his kiss, surrendering to his every command.

No longer would she hold back her affection.

Evie lifted her delicate hands to his bare chest and slipped her right hand down the muscular curves of his left bicep.

Caleb shuddered from the touch, as if her touch melted his tattoos in the heat.

She took her left hand to stroke lovingly up his strong chest, feeling his handsome skin move and give with every gliding motion.

Her fingers brushed his nipple that was alive with pleasure.

His chest was strong and thick, his shoulders rounded and broad.

His arms were long and built divinely. His stomach, as she then explored it, was soft and naturally defined.

Her fingers traced deliciously down his sides and to the front above his groin.

Caleb groaned deeply within his chest and tilted his head to the side, still cradling her face passionately.

He kissed her harder, breathing heavier.

She let him decide how far to take it, and so when his tongue felt hers, she welcomed it.

It became faster, wilder, and then one of his arms went around her lower back to pull her tight against him.

She touched his cheek again, furrowing her brows from the emotional turmoil that ended within her.

As she held his waist and then swept her hand across his upper back, she imagined him pushing her down to the bed to crawl on top of her.

Hell, if he were to actually do that, she didn’t know if she’d make it out alive.

She pulled away from his kisses to gasp with closed eyes, but it only left him kissing her cheek maddeningly.

He brought the fucking woman out of her.

She reached through his light brownish blond hair and pulled him down harder.

The kissing grew in temperature, completely unbridled and savage.

His hand gripped her hair by the roots, and Evie leaned her head to the side.

Caleb knew exactly what she wanted, and he gave it to her.

The moment his hot lips graced her neck with burning desire, she gave an audible cry of pleasure and gasped.

He opened his mouth to gently bite right where she wanted him to.

Her pelvis began to swell, and she felt herself dripping.

Pulling his face deeper into her biggest erogenous zone left his carnal wishes aching to be satisfied.

Everything she did was furiously passionate, tender and submissive.

He slipped his tongue against hers again and groaned hard.

All around her, her body danced with his heat, muscles, height, and she could feel his husky moans coming deep from within his chest. She kissed him hard before gasping, their foreheads touching, “You have no fucking idea what you’re doing to me. ” Both of her hands grasped his hair.

He proved her wrong. Caleb leaned down, grabbed her butt and hoisted her into the air.

Out of absolute panic, thinking she was going to break his back, she grabbed his shoulders and tried to hold herself up.

She didn’t know how military men were trained to be able to do such things.

He quickly slammed her down on the bed, releasing a yelp of excitement from her, and crawled on top of her.

His eyes met hers, and he fiercely said, “I know exactly what I’m fucking doing to you.” He hotly kissed her again. “That’s why I’m doing it.”

Save me, he thought. Get me out of this. It’s all wrong.

Her legs wrapped around his waist, and he began grinding against her, holding himself above her with his taut arms. She adored how the bed around her head sunk from his massive hands pressing down into it, completely caging her in his lust in which she would faithfully be his songbird.

He felt his back muscles become alive with her digging into them, holding them, massaging his waist with long and loving strokes.

Her nails clawed at his shoulder tattoo, and it felt like she could peel it off.

They couldn’t stop their passionate kissing.

He was going to burst. Within a single minute, Caleb found his redemption in her passion. He could breathe new air, and have those nails rip his memories clean from his mind.

Save me.

Subtle glistening of sweat formed on his temples while her fingers ran through his hair, sending electrifying jitters down his spine.

As the kissing grew in fervor, Caleb leaned his chest onto hers and pressed their bodies together in mounting pleasure.

The bare skin of his chest was hot against hers, and everything about him felt heavy.

His cell phone rang in his jeans pocket with an Avril Lavigne song.

He stopped, and she paused. Evie’s eyes looked to the side as they were still in mid-kiss.

Caleb groaned and got up. “I’m sorry. That’s my daughter calling me.”

He got up and hurried to find his jeans before she rolled over and picked them up off the ottoman at the end of her bed. He thanked her and dug furiously to answer the call. “Hey baby girl! What’s up?” He turned his back to talk.

Evie finally caught her breath and had to practically peel herself up off the bed.

She exhaled and wiped her face, fanning herself.

She wrenched the window open a bit more.

As he talked, she could easily tell he wasn’t talking to another adult woman, and even if he did, it wasn’t her business.

That kiss and the last twelve hours of her life was the best thing she had ever had.

Besides, he didn’t belong to her. He had a life outside of her, and she was damn certain she would respect that.

Yet what Pawpaw said came back to her, and so did what Sandy and Kelly said.

Jealousy was an ugly, nasty thing. She shook her head out.

How dare she even judge him like that to think he could be playing around with someone else?

What the hell was she thinking? She had no right to butt into his business.

It could have been his daughter, and it probably was.

Thinking anything else would’ve made her no better than the catty broads at the salon. But she did listen.

The conversation mentioned something about horseback riding lessons needing to be moved to that day due to the instructor having to leave town early.

He hung up the phone and looked at her with sorrowful eyes.

She smirked and patted the bed to encourage him to sit. He did. “Don’t worry about it. It’s okay! I think it’s cute you have an Avril Lavigne song for your daughter. That’s so freaking cool that you’re not embarrassed of it.”

He let out a huff in a smile while looking down.

“Oh, hell no. I’m a fan myself. Yeah. She’s only four, but I let my kids share a phone because their mom insists on them having one.

So, Olivia got to choose the ringtone for the week.

” He gave her that friendly little flirt nudge again.

“I know you’re a fan as well with the videos you post. She’s coming in to concert next summer.

If my divorce is finalized, we should go together. ”

Evie brightly answered, “I would love that! I’ve never seen her in concert before.”

Caleb’s demeanor changed abruptly. “Hey, uh, listen. About all this…”

She patted his lap. “Don’t worry about it. I won’t tell anyone. I want you to trust me, and that’s the stupidest thing I could do right now.”

“Promise? Because I really can’t afford anymore fucking drama in my life. I really appreciate that.” He stood and began putting on his clothes. “For what it’s worth,” he began as he zipped up his jeans, “you’re a hell of a kisser.”

She smiled and stood to give him a hug. Then she fondly looked up into his eyes again. “You’re a hell of a man. But you know that already.”

However, the truth of it was that he actually didn’t know it. Not until he met her.

She asked, “Still want French toast?” She playfully shouldered him. “To go with that delicious French kiss?”

He chuckled and kissed her again. “You know it.”

After breakfast, Caleb put his shoes on, and she walked him out to his truck.

His belly and heart felt full, even though his groin was screaming in heat and sensitivity.

And it was no different for her. He had to leave to take his daughter to horseback lessons, and so she had no choice but to be okay with it.

She really didn’t want to be any other way, for being any other way would have been completely selfish and cruel.

It was now softly misting.

At the driver’s door, Caleb looked to her. “You gonna be okay? I know last night was rough.”

She nodded. “I think after this morning, nothing can bring me down.”

He grinned. “I’m glad, Evie. I’d kiss you again if you didn’t have neighbors across the road.”

She shook her head lightly. “Don’t worry about it.”

He opened his door and as he climbed in, they let their eyes meet once more.

An eternity seemed to pass between them.

He smiled again. “Call me or text me if you need me.”
