9. Chapter 9

Aria

Ghost walks over to me and slides his finger under my chin. “It doesn’t have to end here. Let us walk you back to the bookstore.”

I turn away from him and walk back over to my jumper and bag.

I pull out my phone and it reads a quarter after six.

It’s probably for the best because the bookstore opens at seven-thirty this morning.

Ever since Lyla moved to Michigan, I have had to open and close the store every day.

I wish she was still here because I know without a doubt she would open the store for me this morning.

No questions asked. I don’t possibly know how I’m going to make it through today with the night I had.

I pull my costume back on minus my ripped fishnets and turn back around to my men, who are now fully dressed. Well, obviously, they will never be mine, so maybe I should stop referring to them as my men. “Lead the way,” I say, gesturing to the exit .

They both walk over to me and wrap their fingers through mine on each side of me.

“We won’t be able to make it to the store without touching you, so we might as well do it in a way that won’t get us all arrested.

” I shake my head and begin walking, pulling them along behind me.

If this is all I get from them, I would rather it end sooner rather than later.

We make it to the center of town, and the store is now within view.

It is going to break my heart to walk in there and let these two walk away from me.

The only sounds coming from any of us are the sound of leaves crunching under our shoes.

“It was nice to meet both of you,” I say, trying to sound casual.

Well, as casual as a person can sound after getting railed by two men like them all night.

We stop in front of my store, and they turn me to look at them. In the daylight, they are more heart-stopping than I could have imagined. “We really don’t want you to hate us after we leave here today,” Skull says.

“It might suck, but I could never hate either of you.” I give them a halfhearted smile. “If either or both of you ever change your mind about your one night only rule, you know where to find me.” I say, gesturing to the sign that reads Black Cat Bookstore above us.

They both nod their head and Skull leans down and places a gentle kiss on my lips, followed by Ghost. “Thank you for giving us the opportunity to worship you,” Skull says.

All I can do is nod because I already feel the tears pricking at my eyes.

I turn and pull the keys out of my purse to unlock the front door.

I look over my shoulder one last time and smile before I pull the door open and hear the familiar jingle of the bell.

Nova jumps down off of one of the shelves and follows me into the back room of the store.

I walk over to my backpack I left here last night and pull out an acceptable outfit for today and slide out of my costume.

I really hope Jacob is out of my house when I go home because I need to actually get some sleep tonight. I pull fresh clothes on and walk back towards the front door to turn the open lights on to officially start my day.

That was the best Halloween night of my life.
