Fallon #4
The band begins playing the intro before giving us the cue to start our routine.
I completely screw up the toe and heel shit the first time through, but after that, I start to get it.
It’s not perfect, but I’m able to move in beat with the crowd of a hundred seemingly Juilliard-level dancers, including my date.
Jett smiles widely as he watches me get better with each pass. By the end, I’ve totally got it, and my grin matches his. This is so much fun. Screw fancy sit-down dinner dates at expensive restaurants. This is the most fun I’ve ever had on a first date. On any date.
When it’s over, he pulls me in for a hug. “You were amazing.”
“You’re not the only athlete here, Jett.” I make a muscle with my arm. “I’m small but mighty.”
He chuckles. “Yes, you are.”
He and the band leader exchange knowing glances again. This time, Jett nods.
I narrow my eyes at him. “Do you know him?”
He bites back a smile as he shakes his head. “Nope. I just got here a little early to have a chat with him. We came to a mutual…understanding.”
“What kind of—”
Before I can finish that sentence, the band begins playing “In Your Eyes” by Peter Gabriel, the well-known song from the money scene of the movie Say Anything, Diane and Lloyd’s movie.
“Wow,” I marvel, “you’re pretty smooth, Mr. Jeffries.”
The dimple makes an appearance. “I need to impress my girl.”
His girl.
He holds out his hand. “May I have this dance, angel face?”
I place my hand in his, and he pulls me into his muscular, inviting arms. My hands reach up for his broad shoulders while his grab for my hips and pull me close to his body. Heat rolls off him in waves, inviting me into his cocoon of deliciousness.
I should play it safe and rest my head on his chest, but I don’t.
I look up at him as we stare into each other’s eyes.
His gaze is penetrating. I can hear the music, but it’s now faded into the background, almost like I’m underwater.
Dozens of couples are dancing all around us, but I only have eyes for him.
He’s staring down at me like he’s looking into my soul. Like he wants to devour me.
“I dreamed of this moment,” he admits in a raspy voice. “When you were creating your profile with the name Diane Court, I saw us dancing to this song one day.”
I melt at his sweet admission as I lick my lips. I desperately want him to kiss me. I’m not sure I’ve ever been this attracted to a man in my life. Maybe it’s the months of watching videos of him. Maybe the months of talking to Lloyd. Maybe the sweet way he planned this date so carefully.
As if reading my mind, he moves his head down. His lips softly brush over mine before he sweetly kisses one corner of my mouth, followed by the other as if he’s testing the waters. When I don’t move away, his lips fully take mine.
The kiss starts gentle but firm until I part my lips.
He takes it as an invitation to part them further and swipes his tongue through my mouth.
His taste is invigorating; it’s minty with a little hint of beer.
There’s a unique sweetness to it. It’s been less than ten seconds, and I know I’m addicted.
He then begins ravaging me, and I’m doing everything I can to give it right back to him. Our lips and tongues move in perfect sync. My body comes to life in a way it hasn’t in a long time. Years.
This epic kiss is escalating quickly. I can’t help but let out something between a moan and a whimper as I pull his head as close to me as I can.
He squeezes my hips hard like he’s trying to maintain control but beginning to lose the battle. I thread my fingers through the back of his hair, practically clawing at him to get closer. I want to climb him like a monkey.
Warmth floods my body as an instant throb forms between my legs. His hands travel down to my ass before he pulls me even tighter to his body. His erection is pressing against my stomach. I want it lower on me. Why does he have to be so damn tall?
Even though it’s our first official date, I feel like this has been a long time in the making.
I’ve fantasized about this man countless times since the party all those months ago.
What he would feel like. What he would taste like.
What he would smell like. How he would kiss me.
Now I’m finally experiencing it, and it’s exceeding every single expectation.
His tongue slowly sweeps against the inside of my lower lip, and I just about lose my mind. This kiss is stealing all my senses. I forget where I am and that there are nearly a hundred people around us.
My skirt is short, especially with my arms lifted around him. His fingers brush across the backs of my thighs, leaving a blazing trail in their wake. I silently beg for him to move them under my skirt so he can feel what he’s done to my panties.
Without warning, he breaks the kiss, leaving us both breathless with our foreheads pressed together.
I notice the song has long ended, and people are line dancing all around us again to a faster beat.
We stick out like a sore thumb, embracing as we are and not moving with the rest of the crowd, but who cares?
“Wow,” he breathes heavily as my head continues to spin.
Wow is right. I have to blink my eyes a few times to regain focus. What the hell just happened?
