14. Sunny

Chapter 14

Sunny

T he firehouse was quiet once they left. If it wasn't for Luka babbling in his high chair and throwing anything he could on the floor, I would have gone crazy with the lack of noise.

“Okay, baby, how about we clean this up so the guys can eat it later, and then I think it's time for your nap.” As I spoke, Luka's eyes were already starting to drift, so I knew I was right.

Rummaging through the cabinets, I found a crock pot with a small cry of triumph. Rune said that the gumbo needed to simmer, so a crock pot was ideal. It only took me twenty minutes to get everything situated and cleaned up in the kitchen before grabbing Luka and wiping down my sleepy son. Somehow, he had managed to get that strawberry in every possible place.

Walking back to our room, my steps faltered when I saw Walker sitting at his desk. “Hi,” I greeted softly.

He looked up, a smile slowly spreading across his face. “Hey, Sunny, everything okay?” he asked. The silver strands of his hair caught my eye, and for a moment, I wondered if he let his facial hair grow out, would it also be silver?

That would be hot.

I nodded. “It's time for this little one to have a nap. So I was just going to put him down, is that okay?”

“Of course. Why don't you take the monitor with you, and I can keep an ear out for him here. Did the food get wasted?” He frowned. “It is part of the job, but it's still annoying.”

I shook my head. “I managed to put it in a crock pot, so it should be ready for the guys when they get back.”

Walker’s face broke into a smile. “Great idea, Sunny.”

My face heated at his praise. I opened my mouth to respond, but my stomach growled, making Walker laugh.

“You know you can dish up some food for yourself. You don't have to wait for the rest of us.”

“It's not that. I'm not really hungry, I’m craving milkshakes.” I chuckled. In fact, I hadn't been able to stop thinking about them since Rune had first told me about the homemade shakes.

“Milkshakes?”

I nodded. “Rune told me he was going to make some, and now I can't stop thinking about them.”

Walker winced. “He shouldn’t have mentioned them if there was a chance he was going to have to go out on a call. That's just cruel.”

“I know.” I laughed. “At this point, I would settle for a crappy drive-through shake.”

Walker’s face lit up. “Actually, we have a really good milkshake place just down the road. It's like a three-minute walk from here. Why don’t you go grab one?”

My stomach growled violently, and my face heated. “While that is tempting, I can’t really afford it right now, given how I just lost everything…”

“Nonsense!” Walker stood, pulling a wallet out of his back pocket. He took out a shiny credit card and held it out for me.

I stared at him in shock. Why on earth was he offering me his credit card? “I can’t take that!”

“Yes, you can. It’s the least I can do. I have omega cousins, and I know for a fact that, if they do not get a sweet treat on a regular basis, they will go feral. Consider this me doing my part for the safety of the entire firehouse.” He gave me an easygoing grin.

“I promise I won't go feral on you guys if I don't have a milkshake.”

Walker cocked his head thoughtfully. “Okay, but it’s better to be safe than sorry.”

I bit my lip, looking at the card he was still holding out.

Deep down, I definitely wanted a milkshake. It was a small indulgence and a real temptation.

Would it be so bad to let this alpha take care of me?

“Do you want one?” I asked.

Walker shook his head. “No… I’ve got a green juice I need to drink first.” As he spoke, he grimaced, making me laugh.

“Juice!” Luka declared sleepily, making us both smile.

“Why on earth are you drinking that?” I asked through giggles.

“Because I’m supposed to be healthy as a firefighter. And because I'm the captain, I have to set a good example.” He said the last part in an almost whining voice.

“Well, now I just feel mean getting a milkshake when you can't have one.”

“Not at all. You should get a milkshake. Let me live vicariously through you. Really, you’d do me a favor by going and getting one.”

“Walker…”

“Do it, Sunny. This is a disagreement I refuse to let you win.”

With a smile and a huff, I took the card from his outstretched hand. “Thank you. I can go after Luka’s nap.”

“Why don’t you go now? Put him down and take the monitor with you, but I can keep an eye on him here. If he wakes up, I can look after him for the three minutes it will take for you to get back here.”

I bit my lip. He was convincing me to go and get myself a sweet treat and was offering to look after my child in the interim?

Was it possible for him to get any more perfect?

Well, maybe if he was naked.

That was a train of thought I needed to quickly stop.

No panting over the hot firefighters.

I shook my head. “You’re being too nice.”

Walker smiled. “Nope, I’m just the boss and used to getting what I want,” he said, gently pushing me back toward the room so I could put Luka down to nap.

“Don’t you worry, Luka, when you’re old enough, you can have all the milkshakes, but for now, it’s Mama’s treat.” Walker laughed lightly.

The milkshake place was just as close as Walker had said, and I was there and back within ten minutes. It was kind of nice to get out of the fire station and breathe a bit of fresh air.

I had no idea when I last went out on my own. I usually had Luka with me, and more recently, one of the firefighters. It was nice in a way, but also fairly lonely.

Though, I was eager to get back to Luka. I had installed the baby monitor app on my new phone, and I could see that he was fast asleep.

“Still doing paperwork?” I asked, observing Walker sitting at his desk, reading through files with a frown as I returned.

He glanced up at me, his frown melting away and a smile taking over his features. “It’s never ending.”

“The struggle of being the boss.”

Walker pouted playfully before noticing the milkshake in my hands. “That thing is gigantic.”

“I know!” I cried. “This is apparently a small?” I laughed, holding the drink aloft. It was the size of my freaking head.

“There is no way that’s a small! What flavor is it?” he asked.

“Cookies and cream.” I grinned.

Walker groaned, throwing his head back. The veins of his neck bulged with the movement.

I wanted to bite them.

“Want some?” I asked, taking a few steps toward him and holding out the drink, which he eyed hungrily.

“I do, but I shouldn’t. I still haven’t finished my green juice…”

I snorted. “Well, don't let me stand in the way of you and your green juice. I guess I will have to just drink this gigantic milkshake all by myself.” I giggled. “I suppo ? —”

“Gimme!” Walker stood and playfully snatched the drink out of my hand, making me laugh loudly.

No sane or rational human could turn down a milkshake in favor of green juice.

Leaning against the side of Walker’s desk, I watched as he took a sip. “ Fuck that’s good,” he moaned.

My core clenched, and my mind was instantly thinking about him swearing in that low, gravelly voice as he knotted me.

Calm down, firehouse hoochie! I scolded myself.

It really wasn’t fair to be surrounded by that many hot firefighters.

Maybe I would have to sneak a little alone time in the shower later to help relieve some of my pent-up frustration.

“How are the guys doing?” I asked as Walker took another sip.

“Good, last I heard. The fire was small and easy to contain. They're just doing a bit of cleanup and they'll be back.”

“That’s good.” I smiled as he sat back down.

“It is. I don't care how well trained they are, I always get anxious when they go out without me.”

I snorted lightly. “I imagine it must feel worse for the wives and girlfriends of firefighters.”

Walker grimaced. “Yeah, they are a strong bunch, I must say. Gil has been married for nearly twenty years, has several children, and his wife is the strongest woman I have ever met. Frankly, she could walk into this station and start bossing me around, and I would say yes, ma'am with a smile.”

That mental image made me grin. Even though he wasn't the largest firefighter at the station, Walker had a dominating energy that commanded attention. It was easy to understand why he was the captain.

Up close, his scent was stronger, and I leaned forward subconsciously. I had been missing that scent ever since I changed my bedding after the first night at the firehouse. Part of me had considered asking Walker to roll around in the bed to cover it in his scent again, but that seemed a little inappropriate.

“Sounds like an impressive woman,” I said, running a hand through my hair. Despite the cool evening air, my skin started to flush.

“She is.” He stood slowly, so he was towering over me. I was too close to him. I was practically sitting on the edge of his desk.

It wasn’t appropriate.

I didn’t want to move.

Walker’s eyes widened as he looked at me, his pupils expanding as his nostrils flared. Was my scent stronger? My pussy was weeping more than usual at the sight of the hot, silver-haired firefighter, so maybe he smelled just how on edge I was.

I needed to return to the bedroom. My body was starting to hum with need.

My body trembled under his gaze. Did he feel the same way? His eyes were hungry and firmly trained on my lips.

“Uh… Sunny…” he mumbled, unable to pull his eyes away from them.

“Yeah…” I panted. Panted.

Like a dog in heat.

Wait, could I be in heat? Doing the mental math, I counted the weeks. I wasn't exactly like clockwork when it came to my heats. After my pregnancy, I had bounced between taking suppressants and just not really having heats.

Surely if this was a heat, there would have been warning signs.

“We…” I swallowed, unable to form words.

Need.

My head swam as I tried to ground myself, but my mind was only focused on one thing. Walker.

Judging by the way he was looking at me, and how strong his scent was, he was feeling the same.

My control was holding on by a thread.

When Walker’s lips met mine, it was like a rubber band snapped, and we grabbed each other, desperately.

His hands tangled in my hair as he kissed me, his touch demanding, but almost reverent.

We needed this.

My back arched as I bowed into him, his arms wrapping around my waist, holding me in place. Not that I was going anywhere.

I fisted my hands in his shirt; he had too much fabric on him. It needed to be gone. Immediately.

“Fuck, omega,” Walker growled against my lips. The use of my designation and that desperate, grumbling tone made my insides quiver and slick gather between my legs.

His hands tightened, and for a moment, I was airborne before being placed on his desk.

We pawed at each other’s clothes, desperate to get them off. We were overdressed, and we needed to rectify that.

“Walker,” I whined, pulling away, only to rip off his clothes, tugging the T-shirt over his head.

The moment his chest was bare, I ran my hands over it, appreciating every ridge and plane. Walker clearly worked out a lot as a firefighter, and I was definitely appreciating the fruits of that labor.

“Please,” I whined. Everything was happening so fast, but at the same time, it wasn't happening fast enough. Vicious cramps ripped through my stomach, and I needed a knot to soothe them.

A knot I was confident Walker could provide.

Cold air brushed against my nipples as he ripped my shirt over my head and threw it into the corner of the room, my nipples pebbling as he pulled us together. His painfully hard cock pressed against my core, setting my body ablaze.

He felt good.

And he wasn’t even in me yet.

“Off,” I whined, pawing at the waist of his pants.

“Impatient omega,” he cooed against my lips, but without breaking contact, he reached one hand down and pulled his cock free.

I didn't hesitate, grabbing it firmly.

Holy fuck.

He had felt big when he was pressed against me, but in my hand was a whole other story.

Had I not been completely crazy with lust, I probably would have been worried that this monster of a cock would have ripped me in half.

Instead of being scared, the prospect excited me.

Walker could destroy my pussy any day.

As I pumped his cock a few times, I appreciated the way he hummed in pleasure, his lips exploring every inch of my skin as he did, turning me into a pile of goo.

We scrambled to take my yoga pants off—it was clumsy, but we didn’t give a fuck.

When his fingers found my folds, I was pretty sure I had died and gone straight to heaven.

“So wet,” he murmured against the skin of my neck, which he was sucking on between words.

“Need,” I whined, pulling him closer so his cock was lined up with my now-exposed pussy. “Fuck me, alpha,” I ground out, nipping at his chest.

His eyes darkened, and his grip on me tightened as he pushed forward, filling me in one firm, powerful thrust.

I saw stars.

No, that wasn’t strong enough. I saw entire fucking universes as my vision whited out and every nerve in my body screamed with pleasure at being stretched so… fucking… perfectly.

He wasn’t even knotting me yet.

He would be soon, if I had anything to say about it.

“Fucking hell, you’re like a vise.”

“So big,” I murmured, throwing my head back. Walker took the opportunity to attack my nipples, sucking on them so hard my entire body trembled. He clearly had a very talented mouth.

Lucky me.

Knot. Alpha. Mine.

It was like a mantra in my head. Slick poured from me as my pussy cried to be knotted.

“Fuck me, I’m not going to last,” Walker panted, as he set a strong, delicious pace.

I was too far gone to fully understand him. My orgasm was already close and, fuck me, I wanted to come on his knot.

“Please, knot me,” I whined pathetically.

Walker growled. “I’ll knot you when you come, omega,” he said, one of his fingers finding my clit and tapping on it lightly.

That was all I needed.

I detonated around his cock, my body shuddering in his grasp. With a roar, he thrust one last time, right as I was in the middle of my release, burying himself in me completely as his knot expanded, filling me oh so amazingly.

“That’s it, omega, drench my knot in that sweet slick.” He groaned, thrusting once more as his knot expanded, stretching me to capacity.

The stretching.

Holy fuck, the stretching.

I wasn’t new to knotting, but when Gregory had knotted me, it felt nothing like this. With him, it was cold, impersonal. It was almost painful.

With Walker, it felt goddamn euphoric. His knot was touching every inch of my walls, hitting and stretching places that had been otherwise unexplored until that moment.

Huh, so Gregory must have had a tiny knot…

Good to know.

My orgasm was still going, the knotting making it last impossibly long.

I wasn’t going to survive it.

What a way to go, though.

My lips found Walker’s shoulder at the same time his found my neck.

Everything felt good. So fucking good.

But I needed more.

I didn’t think—I just acted.

And sank my teeth straight into Walker’s shoulder.
