Chapter 6

Chapter 6

Z saZsa was anxious to get to her room and change clothes. She was still trying to figure out what to wear on her date with James, when she heard the loud voices coming from the apartment. She pulled out her keys and opened the door. Although she didn’t have to, ZsaZsa lived on campus, where she shared a dorm suite that consisted of four bedrooms; two bedrooms on each side of the suite with Jack & Jill bathrooms between them. Phire and she had one end of the apartment, while Deirdre and Angela’s bedrooms were on the other side of the common area near the entrance. What was called the common area included an open concept kitchen, sitting room and a study area. The entrance to the apartment had a walkway with a coat closet near the door. ZsaZsa was hanging her jacket in the closet as Angela and Deirdre continued to have a rather loud disagreement. It was very rare to hear Angela raise her voice. She was the peacemaker of the group and nearly never disagreed with Deirdre. However, to her surprise, Angela sounded upset and was really giving a piece of her mind to Deirdre.

“Ladies, I believe we are on the verge of breaking the noise level rule for the dorm.” She walked into the kitchen area. “What is the cause of your discontentment?”

“Girl, speak English,” Deirdre taunted.

“She did speak English, Deirdre,” Angela pointed out. “Allow me to add more. You are wrong to do this. And the devil will grab hold of you if you continue on this path.”

“Oh, my no. We do not want to wish Satan on anyone, Angela,” ZsaZsa said firmly. “I do not know what Deirdre has done, however, it could not have been that bad.”

“You are taking up for Deirdre?” Angela turned on her. “You have no idea how devious she can be.”

“Oh, just show her the pictures.” Deirdre leaned against the table with a smirk on her face. “I think they are really good. Maybe I’ll share them on my social media page. I mean I do look good in them.”

“No.” Angela turned to her. “What is wrong with you? Why would you want to hurt her in this way? You don’t even like him.”

“It doesn’t look that way in the pictures. I think he likes me.” Deirdre stared deviously at ZsaZsa as she spoke.

“You are interested in someone?” ZsaZsa asked, smiling at the thought. “This is good.”

“No ZsaZsa, this is not good. And no, she is not interested in him for a good reason. She simply wants to hurt someone,” Angela glared at Deirdre.

ZsaZsa frowned, getting a bit confused at the conversation. Deirdre liked someone, but she was not interested in the person? She really did not understand what was happening, however, they had stopped yelling, so that was good, ZsaZsa thought. “Well, is the gentleman handsome?”

“Yes, he is,” Deirdre replied. “I have pictures,” she pulled out her phone, then turned it for ZsaZsa to see. “Here, I can send them to you if you like. Don’t we look good together?”

ZsaZsa saw a picture of James and Deirdre glancing into each other's eyes. Her heart dropped. “Is that….”

“Yes, it is. We were at the student center and decided to take a few pictures. Want to see another one?” Deirdre pushed the screen to reveal yet another picture with her hand on James' chest. “We couldn’t keep our hands off each other. You know when that sexual attraction hits, you just have to act on it. And we did.”

ZsaZsa wasn’t sure if it was the hurt of betrayal she felt or the smirk that was on Deirdre’s face, but fury as she had never known hit her. She wanted to shove the phone down Deirdre’s throat. Before she could stop herself, ZsaZsa twisted her body and drop-kicked Deirdre across the table. The phone flew from Deirdre’s hand going in one direction and her body went in another.

“ZsaZsa…oh no!” Angela gasped. “ZsaZsa stop!”

ZsaZsa heard Angela, but she had been trained never to take her eye off her enemy and at that moment, Deirdre was the enemy she wanted to kill. She hopped on top of the table in one step then stared down at Deirdre who was on the floor coughing from the kick to her chest. Lifting one knee in the air, she dropped down landing in the center of Deirdre’s chest. She heard the door slam but did not dare take her eyes from Deirdre. ZsaZsa grabbed Deirdre’s legs, then slung her around, hitting her head on the edge of the sofa, then a kitchen chair, then sent her flying into the study area. She heard another door while storming over to where Deirdre landed. She heard banging in the distance and, then Phire asked Angela for a chair. ZsaZsa decided Deirdre needed a little more of her rage. She grabbed her by her hair and dragged her across the floor banging her head against the wall.

“ZsaZsa, stop,” Angela called out.

“ZsaZsa, kick her ass,” Phire shouted.

She decided to listen to Phire as Deirdre attempted to stand. ZsaZsa kicked out again, knocking her back into the other room. She walked purposely toward Deirdre and was about to punch her in the mouth when her body was lifted into the air. ZsaZsa kicked vigorously at the person who dared to stop her. Her anger was so fierce, she could not see who sat her in her room.

“Do not hold me back!” ZsaZsa was doing all she could to get away. “I am not finished with her yet.”

“Stay.” The person said.

ZsaZsa was so angry tears began to flow from her eyes. She wasn’t physically hurt, but her tender heart was breaking. How could he? Why would he do such a thing? ZsaZsa asked herself as she fell across her bed. She didn't know how long she cried when she heard a tap at her door.

“May I come in? It was Phire.

“No,” she replied. “I do not wish to talk.”

“I’m coming in anyway.” She opened the door.

ZsaZsa watched as her friend walked into the room then leaned with her back against the wall. She then came over and slid onto the bed beside her, put her feet up and sighed.

“We are not having a good day when it comes to the heart, are we?”

ZsaZsa agreed. “It does not appear to be so.”

“You want to tell me what happened with James?”

ZsaZsa took a deep breath then told Phire what happened when she came home. It still hurt talking about it. She really liked James and could not believe he would be so cavalier about the budding relationship building between them. Phire was trying to explain how she knew the entire scene with James and Deirdre was a set up, but the explanation did not ease her despair. ZsaZsa was upset with him and that was that. She wanted to kick herself for being so stupid. Why would James want her when he could have someone like Deirdre, she thought as Phire continued to try to explain what was really happening in the picture. She put her hands over her face and let the tears flow.

There was a light knock at the door.

“That better not be Deirdre,” ZsaZsa muttered.

“It’s James Jr. I called him and told him what happened.”

“I do not think I want to talk to him.”

“Hmm. I can send him to Deirdre’s room.”

“Don’t you dare.” ZsaZsa reached out grabbing Phire’s arm.

Phire laughed, then opened the door. “Hi, James.”

“Thanks for calling, Phire.” He turned to her. “Hello, ZsaZsa.”

ZsaZsa stood wiping tears from her eyes. “Hello, James.”

“May I come in?”

ZsaZsa nodded, literally unable to say no. He looked so handsome and concerned.

“I’m leaving this door open,” Phire was saying as James Jr. closed the door in her face.

ZsaZsa stared at him, still angry and ready to give him a piece of her mind, then she melted at his words.

“I am sorry for any part I had in hurting you. But Phire was right, we needed to have this on tape so that you could see for yourself what Deirdre was up to and my reaction to her.” He took her hands in his. “I made it clear to Deirdre that I am not interested in her. And I wanted to do it now before you and I became a thing.” He exhaled then continued. “I am only interested in you. We can take it slow, and really take the time to understand what is happening between us. That is if you are willing to be my girl? Are you?”

“We do not take courting lightly in my culture, James Brooks. You will have to get the blessing of my guardian, who is my brother LaVeré before we can become a couple.”

“I’m willing to do that, but first I need to know that you are feeling the same about me that I am feeling about you.”

ZsaZsa gazed up at him. Her heart wanted to scream yes, I feel exactly the same way , but first she had to know how he felt. “Do the stars align when you think of me? They do when I think of you. Does the sun rising have more meaning each day for you since you met me? It does for me. Does the moon bring dreams of me to you when you close your eyes at night? You see, those are the things I feel for you. Is it the same for you?”

“I probably would not have put it as eloquently as you, but yes, that is how I feel about you.”

ZsaZsa smiled, then frowned. “I am afraid I have a confession. I was very physical toward Deirdre. I am not sorry for it, James,” she rushed on to say. “She hurt me deeply with those pictures. And to be clear I am not sure I will not do it again.”

He stood there smiling down at her. “May I kiss you?”

The question shocked her at first, then she thought about it. She really wanted him to do that. “You may, I would like that very much.” ZsaZsa nodded.

What started as a sweet kiss at the meeting of their lips, shocked them both. He placed his hand under her chin. Just his touch caused her body to tingle. Her lips trembled waiting for his. Those beautiful thick lips of his parted. Her eyes closed in anticipation of them touching hers. Did they feel as soft as they looked? Were they as suckable as a lollipop as she imagined? When his lips touched hers, all the questions were answered. The power of his lips against hers sent sensations throughout her body. His tongue ran across her bottom lip, causing her mouth to open for him. Then his tongue slipped between her lips. It felt as if her body literally melted at his touch. She wasn’t sure what to do. She had never kissed a guy before, so she followed the movement of his tongue and found she liked it. She liked it very much. Then his arms were around her waist, just as if they were dancing. She could feel his body against hers and she liked that too.

He eased back, and her eyes opened. “Did I not do it right?”

He smiled. “No, you did it better than right,” he whispered then pulled her closer.

She smiled as his lips captured hers again. Every planet was in sync at that moment for ZsaZsa. She had never felt anything so wonderful, tasted anything so delicious or felt as safe as she did in his arms.
