Chapter 40
Chapter 40
J ames was getting worse, and it looked like the sun was about to go down. The little girl was gone, but promised she would be back in the morning, if her daddy had not arrived. Elliott could not wait any longer. James was now going in and out of consciousness and his leg was getting worse. Elliott touched his forehead and he now feared that James had a fever.
“Hold on man,” Elliott said in a low voice. “I’m going to find something to help you.”
James nodded, “Hurry back, man.”
Elliott walked out of the cell looking both ways. When he reached the two steps, he peeked around the corner. He did not see or hear anyone. He went to the door the little girl indicated was the medical center. It was locked.
“Damn it,” he huffed. He looked around to see if there was a key hanging anywhere, but there wasn’t. He was going to have to venture upstairs. He went back to the corner where the stairs led to the upper area. Slowly, he took one step at a time, keeping his head low. From where he was, the stairs curved in such a way that a person could see him from the back if he wasn’t careful. He took a step into the curve. Looking behind as his head emerged, he did not see anyone about. The area appeared to be the seating area of a kitchen. He looked forward as he took another step.
“Wow!” he said in shock. The kitchen looked to be the size of a house. “Where in the hell are we?” He said then walked further up the stairs as the place came into full view. This was not a normal home he thought as he looked at the wide spread of the kitchen area.
“Okay focus,” he said to himself. He looked around to ensure no one was about. Then he searched for a phone or anything he could contact the outside world with. In an area across from the kitchen there was a set of doors that were open to what appeared to be an office. There was a computer on the desk.
“Yes!” Elliott exclaimed.
He surveyed the area, then made his way to the office. The sight of towels on a stool caught his attention. He needed clean towels for James’ leg. He made a mental note to pick them up before he went back downstairs. But now it was more important to let someone know where they were. He had no idea how, but he was certain Calvin would be able to trace the IP address and track them. As he walked towards the office, a huge room to his right came into view. They were definitely not in Kansas, he thought as he stepped closer. There were banners and flags next to two very elegant chairs sitting on a pedestal. It was a throne.
“Oh hell,” Elliott stated. They were in a castle of some kind. He stepped further into the room and could hear footsteps above him. The living quarters, he thought. He would have to explore that later. Right now, he needed to get help for James and get them out of wherever the hell they were. He turned back and stepped into the office. The minute his foot hit the floor he knew he had tripped a silent alarm. He turned back, grabbed the towels and started to run back down the stairs. He looked up to see men, no, they were armed guards coming into the room on the back side of the kitchen. The last thing he wanted was to lead them to James. He ran in the opposite direction through what he thought was a throne room. There was a door on the other side. Before he could get to the door, it opened, and more guards came through. Damnit, he was caught.
“Hands up.” One of the guards ordered.
Elliott complied noting the guard was speaking English. He put his hands up still holding the towels.
“On your knees,” the same guard ordered. “What is your name?”
“Jaguar,” Elliott replied.
“Why are you here?”
“Jaguar,” Elliott repeated.
“What is happening?” A female voice echoed in the room. “Stay back Theodora.”
“Oh no, Mother. That is my friend.” Teddi ran over to Elliott and stood next to him.
“Your Highness, we found him in the kitchen area,” one of the guards advised.
Your Highness. Elliott looked up to see if it was ZsaZsa. It was not. It was an older woman dressed similar to the way ZsaZsa did. Maybe this was her mother, he thought. But he was not going to take any chances. These people could be connected with those who took them. Give them no information until you know who you are dealing with . The words from Slay rang in his ears.
“He was stealing towels?” She asked.
“We do not know.” The guard replied.
The woman walked over to her daughter. “Teddi come with me.”
“No,” she pouted. “I have to protect him until Daddy gets here.”
The woman walked closer. “You are an American? What is your name?”
Elliott noticed the woman’s voice softened. But he was still not taking any chances. “Jaguar.”
He saw the curve of the woman’s lips. “That is your code name, is it not?”
Elliott did not respond.
“All right, put your hands down,” she exhaled. “Let’s get to the bottom of this.” She stepped onto the platform and took a seat in one of the chairs. “Theodora, I want you to explain. Who is this person? Do not tell me about your imaginary friend. I want you to tell me who is this man.” She watched as her daughter took the man’s hand and began to explain.
