CHAPTER THIRTY-ONE

Hello from Silverthorne Bay.
I know what you’re thinking. Why didn’t she go to Eugene, Oregon, with her sister?
I made a few calls. My friend Byron—he’s the one who helped me decorate your car—told me about this place where they helped people with anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses.
It’s a beautiful place. You should visit it.
You should visit it—the town, not the center.
My parents came a couple of days ago to visit me and be with me during a couple of therapy sessions.
We’re working on our relationship. I guess there’s a generational gap between us.
Dad’s ideas fit well with what my grandparents, who grew up in Mexico, taught him.
He has the beliefs of the late sixties. Mom is no different, but she tried to be less strict with us because she understood that we live in a different era.
There are so many things we need to iron out, but I’m hopeful that they support me and love me.
