Chapter Forty-Six

JETT

“It’s not fair,” I grumbled.

Rowan and Bodie both chuckled.

“Not this again.” Rowan slapped me on the back. “How long are you going to pout about not being able to go inside?”

I was about to tell him that it would probably be all night when headlights blinded me as a truck pulled up behind the vehicle we were all leaning against.

“Hey man, what are you doing here?” Rowan shouted.

The lights flicked off, the driver’s door opened, and Huntley hopped out. “Just coming by to check on River before I head home to help Bre and Lennon with Stormi and Forrest until Bronson gets off work,” he replied, walking toward us.

I made a scoffing sound. “Good luck with that.”

“Ignore him,” Rowan told Huntley. “He’s just mad that the delivery driver is inside and not him.”

Huntley’s gaze drifted toward the house for a second, then he looked back at us. “Yeah, well I have good reason to go in, and I’m not taking no for an answer.”

“Do you know the secret password or something?” Bodie inquired, a hopeful tone in his voice. “I really need to get in there too.”

Rowan glanced at the three of us. “Something is up with you guys. What is it?”

“Hey. Don’t act like you handle being away from your wife very well,” I told him. “If she was pregnant, you’d be going out of your mind.”

He shrugged. “Okay, you got me there.”

Then he pointed at the others. “But what’s the deal with the two of…” Rowan trailed off, his eyes widening. “Holy shit. You two knocked up your wives too?”

Looking at Huntley, and then Bodie, they both had shit-eating grins on their faces—total giveaways.

“River is telling the ladies tonight, so I guess it’s okay to spill the beans to you knuckleheads too,” Huntley told us.

“Same,” Bodie said. “Gemma is revealing our news as well. All the ladies are probably going to flip out with all the baby talk.” He gave us all a glance. “We’re having twins.”

My brows threatened to hit my hairline, and my eyes widened with shock. “Wow, no shit?”

Bodie chuckled. “Yeah, no shit,” he said with a huge smirk on his face.

“This is awesome, congrats.” Rowan smacked Bodie on the back. “Just don’t ask me to babysit.”

Bodie decked him in the arm. “I'll call you up first.”

The streets echoed with the roar of laughter, and I was shocked the ladies hadn’t come out to see what the commotion was, or the whole neighborhood more like it.

Rowan got serious, giving us all a sappy look that we should probably give him shit for, but we were all too damn excited. “I’m really happy for all of you.”

We thanked him and then congratulated one another. It was still hard to believe that I was right smack in the middle of this awesome bunch of friends.

“Okay.” Rowan slapped his hands together loudly. “I’ll try to help you all get inside.”

“Now we’re talking!” I yelled.
